Awesome burgers! Friendly service. One super weird thing- they were out of fries! My kids were all pretty disappointed and that seems like something that should have been disclosed to us when we were seated, not 15 minutes later when we all ordered burgers and fries! Rude. Late July was when we were in the restaurant. We came in as a party of 8 and the hostess told us they were busy and it would be hard to find a place but we could look around. Just inside the door was a dirty, empty 6 top with a 2 top right next to it. The young woman bussing was as snotty as could be about us taking those tables. Attitude deluxe. She took the dirty glasses from it but never wiped off the sloppy water. When we thanked her for menus she snapped, "ya" and rolled her eyes. It took a long time for us to have the waitress take our drink order but once that was done we had great service. First impressions were horrible but it changed and when our sweet waitress took over. The meals were good and we may consider returning when we stay in town (twice a year). Management should think about talking to the tall bussing girl about how she almost lost a big party with her crappy attitude. read more

I read the reviews before going, and there were a couple of very bad ones. So I was a bit concerned, but noticed there were also some very good reviews. So I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Service was really fast. Nothing to write home about. My husband really liked his quail. We loved being able to eat out on the patio. I added chicken to my salad because they had an outside grill only to receive a cold, dried piece of chicken in my salad ( not what I had in mind). After spending the night at The Retro Inn across the street, I went to the Destination Grill for a burger and coleslaw. AND a mojito. The mojito was GREAT. The waitress was just great and attentive and very kind. The food was late in coming. The burger was nearly burnt. The cole slaw was terrible. Nothing on the burger. What? Such a simple request. Burger and cole slaw. How can you mess that up. I LOVE Cortez. I LOVE The Retro Inn. When I swing back through Cortez I will not be eating at the Destination Grill. read more

Stopped here on the way to Mesa Verde National Park. In such a small town, I had low expectations for quality food. This place ended up being AMAZING! My husband got the New York steak and I got the rib eye. Both were cooked perfectly and very tender. The mashed potatoes were supper yummy and the Southwest vinaigrette that came on the side salad was fantastic- wish I could get the recipe for it! The service was good and she was very friendly. The food was poor, the ribs were over priced (23 for 1/2 rack) and not much meat. I fought the meat off the bone. The sauce was the only good thing. The lollipop lamb was tough. I would not return for a meal. read more

Ordered the Baseball steak with steak fries and salad with blue cheese dressing and crumbles - salad was a house salad and the dressing was blue cheese (didn't see any crumbles unless they were in the dressing); steak fries? since when are steak fries spiral cut?; and now the "Baseball" - expecting an 8 oz, small, thick piece of steak, the two medallions were not what was anticipated. I had a prickly pear vodka martini two nights in a row --yes, I very much enjoyed it on night 1--and between the two nights we enjoyed various burgers, potatoes various ways, and quesadilla appetizer. This steaks ordered were top sirloin - 8 oz, at $22 each, medium rare. My wife's was well done. The potato was barely a few bites and we had to request butter. The 'seasoned vegetables' was corn. Man, I hate to leave this review. Because I've been eating and drinking here for 15 years. Way. Back when it was Koko's bar and grill. It's had its ups and downs. But never felt inclined to leave a review. But tonight I brought some friends and my family. Service was fine, drinks were fine. But the ribeye steak I ordered was raw to begin with. Then sent back, hoping it'd come back better, but still was raw rubber and rotten tasting! Couldn't eat 3 bites without getting sick! The sides were a double order or corn and blue cheese(sickening!). After all these years of trying, I will NEVER return! Like I said it wasn't the service, it wasn't a lack of effort by service staff, But rather, a rotten! Rotten! Food service! Worst I've ever ever had in cortez or otherwise! I'd rather eat roadkill! And it wouldn't have cost me $150. Wow! I'm done, I'm done, I'm done!!!!!!! Sorry, but when your that bad you should go belly up. Done!!! read more

Destination Grill, I will avoid next time I am in Cortez. First off you do not have a drink special and not have enough of the key ingredients to make the drink all night. My wife and I ordered from the Chefs Specialties. The Grilled Salmon and that was good; however, you cannot replace one of the sides with a side salad to me that is not acceptable. I ordered the 10oz ribeye from the Chef's Specialties for $26 that was a total mistake. If this is an example of beef in Colorado I would be embarrassed; I ordered it medium it was well done. A ribeye should never be less than 1" thick and this was at best 1/2" I've had better shoulder steaks. I believe the only reason this place is still in business is because of the location within easy walking distance of 4 hotels. If you do go, stick with something simple the burgers looked good. read more
