We were seated outside on the front patio. It's not even worth sitting there as there is only one other table. A bit too close for them not to overhear us. There was a car running non-stop ten feet from my chair. The restaurant cannot control who runs their car in front of the restaurant, yet it goes to show that tables should not be placed out there. There is beautiful seating out back and we felt cheated that we wasn't given the option. While the sandwiches were good, the fries were cold to the touch. They were replaced immediately. I also had to ask for lettuce and tomato for my chicken sandwich. I wanted to visit this place for a long time yet we're disappointed in the lackluster experience and no lunch menu. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! I ordered a LG pizza with graziano sausage and ground beef, onions and black olive toppings. It's the worst pizza I've ever had. Even Domino's was better. The sauce and toppings were skimpy and very unevenly distributed like the person preparing it never made a pizza before. The crust was rubbery. There was almost no meat on it and I only tasted the graziano's 1 time in 3 slices, and the meat that was on it was very over cooked and flavorless. Although they serve high quality mozzarella cheese for other dishes they didn't use it on the pizza. They used a blend of sharp cheeses without saying so on the menu. read more

I came here again with my family and it was more disappointing this time. First off the wings that were very good were taken off the menu. Second the food is super expensive and the place is kind of in the middle of trying to be a bar and a steak house. I got the chicken tenders agina which were out of the world for tenders because they are soooo crispy and tender but they have little to no sauce options with a weird bbq sauce and the ketchup is in little cups. We tried there bao sliders and they were pretty good but nothing to special. The French fry's were very good again with the special seasoning. The service was very average and the nothing out of the world. This place is wierd because it's in the middle of being nice and a bar. I think it would be a good fit for a bar but not an expensive steak house. All around it was very average at a 7.1/10 read more

Destination Grille- Grimes, IA Stopped in in a Sunday afternoon during a motorcycle ride and 85 degrees outside! Opted to sit at the bar. Was greeted promptly by the bartender asking if we would like drink and food menus or just food. We decided to eat at the bar. There was only one other group at the bar so plenty of room. The bartender was friendly engaging, which ended up talking with the other group at the bar and new group just joining. He was not overly pushy but nice enough to answer questions about the food menu when we stopped him. Their Sunday specials looked good (and smelled phenomenal) but we were hungry hungry for meals. We both ordered classic mules (which didn't last long). I had the lobster corn chowder and braised beef bao buns! The lobster in the corn chowder was plentiful and very flavorful. Bao buns were soft and housed just the right amount of meet. Lastly, but certainly not least, the hubs had the candied bacon cheeseburger. The patty was juicy but not overly 'wet'. That candied bacon, to die for. It really elevated the sandwich and truffle fries, if you've never had, you'll never got back to regular fries! The atmosphere is a very upscale bar/restaurant with incredible outside space. It was hard to see the person across the table because of the sun position and time of night. Not sure they could do too much other than add window treatments. The food was ok. My dish was not what I expected but that is on me because all places have their own recipes. The manager came to our table and asked how the food was and I said ok. She asked more probing questions and found out more behind my response. You don't see that these days that is for sure. I told her I wasn't complaining about the food as it was on me because I expected something different but that does not mean their version is not right. My disappointment was an internal disappointment not a restaurant disappointment. Well a few minutes later she returned with a box of homemade truffles and a small gift card and invited me back to try something else. So nice and not expected. She listening to me was a surprise in and of itself the other was the cherry on top! read more

This is a new place in our town. It's beautiful, tastefully done and novel. HOWEVER, the prices are crazy high. A domestic beer is something like $7-$8. The food is unique, good and plentiful, but the prices are, again, high. There's also no happy hour, which is weird to me. I'd think a new place would want to draw people in to get them to stay through dinner. The seating is also a little goofy: you can sit there if you have a reservation or right next to there if you don't. Seems like this might be someone new to the hospitality industry. I'm afraid these folks are going to chase away customers who will only come in one time, get sticker shock and then won't return. This is too bad as this is really a nice place. read more

We did not have reservations so we sat at the bar. Second floor Bar staff was super friendly and engaging. They kept our drinks filled and had our food delivered in a timely manner. The Caesar salad was delicious and the Brussels were charred perfectly. Tasted great! Lobster roll was ok but heads up-their version is served cold and was heavy on the Mayo. Would have ordered something different had we know this. The pizzas going out also looked delicious. Overall, service was great and drinks were great. Went to Destination Grille last night for dinner with my husband. We didn't have reservations (the first question asked when we walked in), but were seated immediately. They have a rooftop outdoor bar area option as well which looks very cool, but we opted for indoors this time. Our server came immediately to take drink orders, pour glasses of water and ask about appetizers. We ordered craft beer but saw they have a selection of specialty cocktails worth checking out. We went with the DG fries (fries with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil and sides of aioli and ketchup). It didn't take long for either to come and those fries were 100! They were all crispy and not at all soggy and had generous Parmesan and truffle throughout - not just on top. Our server came back to take our entree orders soon after - we ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with the lobster corn chowder as the side (since we had the fries) and the DG pizza (small). The side options all look amazing - mushrooms, brussel sprouts, fries (which I spoke to), Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes (to name a few). They also have two soups - lobster corn chowder and French onion and a few different salad options. Some of the entrees come with a choice of soup/salad along with the side but we had gone with the more casual meals this trip. The menu offers handhelds, pizzas, pastas and main course entrees - not an extensive menu but everything looked and sounded delicious reading the menu and with a smaller selection they can specialize and do a better job with what they offer. My husbands cup of soup came out quickly. It had generous lobster pieces and tasty corn (he loves his corn). He said it was good but didn't rave about it (the fries beat out the soup for his liking). There were plenty of runners cheering away empty plates, filling water, etc and although our empty plates were cleared, no one offered or came to refill waters, and we noticed other tables all had carafes. It was taking some time for our entrees and we noticed others who came in well after us were getting their meals earlier. We were enjoying our time but really wanted more water, when a runner came out with a cup of the lobster soup for my husband (he already had eaten his and the cup was long removed). The server came quickly and told her to take it back, we already had ours, then mentioned the food should be coming any time. We asked for a water carafe and he went to get one and asked us about additional drinks. We were happy with water at this point and the meal was what we were waiting for. It took quite some time and while every other table around us (who had come after us) received their appetizers, entrees, drink refills, etc we waited. Our food finally came out a good 45 minutes after we finished our fries, soup and drinks, and it looked amazing. We were somewhat surprised there was no apology for whatever mix up had caused the soup to be presented twice about 20 minutes apart (which made us think there was some confusion) and for the delay in the entrees, but we were hungry. The burger was more red than my husband likes, (he ordered medium well and it was more medium or medium rare) but he said it was tasty with the melted Swiss and the mushrooms and after the delay didn't want to send it back. The pizza was so good! All of the specialty pizzas had caught ny attention but I went with this one - bacon, cream cheese, mushrooms and chicken. The cream cheese was melted nicely and gave a different taste that I enjoyed with the other flavors. The crust is a slight pan (thicker) and was crispy and perfect. I was only able to eat half it was so filling. Overall, the service was not great but the server was friendly when we interacted. He didn't check back often when we were out of water, had no carafe offered or left until we asked, didn't check more frequently or follow up when the food was taking quite awhile until the soup came out again and he noticed the error. He interacted with us a total of 5 times throughout the hour and a half to two hours we were there - to take our order, bring the fries & soup, stop the second cup of soup and get us the carafe we asked about, deliver our food and bring the bill. From what we had read the quality of food, ambiance and service were top priorities. The ambiance is very casual and warm and we enjoyed it. The prices are slightly higher but the quality and uniqueness of the food go along with this. The service was the area most lacking for us that evening. The restaurant was not busy, just consistent with people in and out, so this was not a reason; and although he was friendly when he did engage with us, he fell into the category of an OK server for me on that night because he only came around when absolutely necessary for something. read more

This isn't a full experience review since I wasn't in the main dining room and we had a limited menu. This was my first time and went there for a seated holiday lunch of about 40 of us in the private party room. To speed things up, we had a limited menu of a Bacon Cheeseburger, Salmon BLT, Chicken Parm Fettuccine, Caesar Salad with Chicken or Buffalo Chicken Salad. With choice of side! And one of the side choices was an amazing lobster chowder. I saw the menu online and can't wait to try other items but everything offered today was great according to those seated around me! I had the salmon BLT and the bacon was seriously some of the best I've ever had. Salmon was cooked perfectly as well. Service was as good as it could be. A single server was working the entire party, doing her best to keep up with refills, and check in on all of us! The amount of time it took for her just to get everyone's order was at least 16 minutes. She did a great job, but should have had better support. Atmosphere was nice, but nothing to write home about. Pizza was good. Portion sizes were generous. Other than that, no one at our table (there were six of us) were impressed by the food. Diablo Chicken, was bland and unusually expensive for pasta. Mixed drink were pricey and little to no alcohol. Part of our order was never delivered. Service was disorganized and inattentive -- after spilling a drink on a member of our party, it took quite a while for server to bring a towel, so we all passed our napkins. We had to ask repeatedly for replacement napkins (and similarly had to ask repeatedly (and eventually got up to get our own) plates for the pizza appetizer. Bill was mixed up between couples. In general, a disappointing experience for a "Destination" that has gotten a lot of hype locally. read more

I have driven by this place many times and finally had the opportunity to eat here with the hubby. Great ambiance for date night. Very contemporary and modern with large screen TV's. Not really a bar, but easily a great place to catch a drink and appetizers. It was very busy when we were there around 6pm on a Saturday night. We did not have reservations but was able to snag a couple spots upstairs at the bar. The service was very friendly and prompt. Full service menu and an extensive wine and drink menu. We ordered the prime rib and it was a good portion size. It actually had a slight smoky taste to it which I thought was quite good. It came with a small portion of mashed potatoes and an underwhelming side of green beans. The food was good but prices more inline with downtown Chicago dining. I thought it somewhat overpriced for the area. But the service and ambiance were top notch. Would definitely come again. Probably just order appetizers and drinks though. Perfect place for date night or to meet up with friends. Would love to go back in the summer when their terrace is open. read more

Great bar staff but food was forgettable. We ordered a sandwich to share(Reuben) and it was pretty bad. All I tasted was grease. The meat was tender but the flavor was overwhelmed by the grease. DG is fire! The atmosphere is amazing. The food and service are top-notch, and there's an extensive gluten-friendly menu. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. We had to wait a while on our entrees, but our server, Erika, kept us hydrated and laughing. We did make reservations for 6 people on the terrace, but didn't realize there was a limited menu, so we asked if there was anything available for us inside, and they accommodated us nicely!
