We ordered the roasted ravioli for an appetizer and it was good then we each ordered a small pizza... pepperoni pizza and sausage pizza. The pizzas had loads of cheese and were cooked perfectly. The service was fine. One server that was busy but did a good job. The dining area was sparse and basic. The pizza was bland with really low quality ingredients. We got a supreme/the works and there were so many canned mushrooms, it was clear that low quality ingredients was the plan. We are once and done. So many other options locally for pizza. Tried scornavacca waukee and the pizza is great as always but don't waste your money on the ravioli. It was terrible. It was left in the fryer too long that it was as hard as a hockey puck when we got it. sad thing is spent 10.95 for 6 ravioli hockey pucks that could chip your tooth. 1. Dining room thermostat was set by the pizza baker in the kitchen it was way cold! 2. My side salad was water logged! You need to drain it after washing, or spin it dry in salad spinner, or Pat it dry with paper toweling. I did like the Romano dressing. 3. After forgetting to request our pizza to be baked well-done we sent word with the waitress to tell the pizza baker this. She claims she did but she was so lousy I'm believing she didn't pass along the word, because the bottom side of the crust was white. 4. So guess what, our combo 12" pizza wasn't even warm under the cheese. I'd give it a tepid lukewarm. it doesn't help the shaker of Parmesan cheese was fresh out of the refrigerator, thanks to our legislators and food inspectors about that. There was only one table of guests dining in when we arrived at 6:15 PM on a Saturday night. Should have been our first clue. I don't know what the trouble is, we have never had such a horrid experience at this location. Has management changed, or new owner? Our service was equally as bad. This was the slowest service I have ever witnessed. I sat and waited over an hour to get my food. I saw the waitress open a beer and take it to the back. It wouldn't have felt as long if there was any live TV available, but instead it was a silent room while waiting for food. Food was not worth the 2 hours I spent there. read more

I feel bad for the person working the register but when I went to pick up my pizza, I was 7th in line. The room felt tense and soon I learned why. There were people who had been waiting on their orders for 45-90 minutes. My order only ended up being 20 minutes after the promised time, but the onion rings had been in the warmer the whole time I was there so they weren't overly crisp when I got home. By that point we giggled as we opened the pizza box to see that the pizza was uncut. I've been a long time fan of Scornovacca's on the south side but rarely had the chance to go. They posted on their Facebook page that they were doing a soft opening so we had to go. The space isn't huge so I expect times when it is full. The veggie pizza is a favorite with mushrooms, black olives, sweet peppers, onions and more. The crust and cheese was baked perfectly. Great surprise to find Sconovaccas in Waukee! Used to live close to the Merle Hay location back in the late 90's and haven't been back since our last four moves took us to the opposite end of town. Anywho! Nice hometown and homemade food. Our meals were great, the service was good and the pizza looked fabulous. It was hard to choose which dish for our first visit. Plan to be back. The only negative is it is quite chilly when the door opens. They could really use to put another set of doors on their vestibule to keep the drafts from going straight into the space. My sweet mom saw this place while driving in Waukee and suggested we give it a try. I LOVE pizza and Sunday night pizza night was instilled in me as a child. So I asked her if she would like to join me for Sunday evening pizza at this mysterious pizza spot she discovered (only mysterious because you never know what my mom could be dragging us into). We arrived for an early dinner, only one other customer was in the restaurant picking up his order. I questioned if this was a great spot to dine-in or if it was more of an unspoken pick-up only place. But nonetheless, we asked to dine in and got a table in the corner. I felt much better about our dinner decision after reading the history of Scornovacca's on the menu and learning they are sort of a Des Moines south side pizza staple. We ordered toasted raviolis to start, which I will say were good but nothing to write home about. For our pizza, we ordered the Hawaiian (yes with pineapple, don't judge)....Ummm I will write home about this pizza! SO GOOD. The crust is thinner but still substantial with a bit of crunch. They used the perfect amount of cheese and sauce, which in my opinion is what's important on pizza. And to my surprise, as it grew later in the night the dining room filled up with people also wanting to enjoy the new location of a great pizza spot. Ordered a combo pizza which was good and prepared correctly. Quite expensive for a medium $23, but what really disturbed me was the $1 added to my bill to promote small business. I feel I am already supporting small business by purchasing a $23 pizza there. Don't add costs to my bill which I cannot opt out of if I don't feel it is necessary. The kitchen help should have gotten the dollar, not a small business promoting group. You need to remove this charge or let the customer decide if they want it added to their bill or not. read more

I don't know...we've eaten here three times and it keeps getting worse. Food is way overpriced for the quality. Ordered the cheese bread and it's literally cheap bread with sauce and cheese on it. I could make this at home and probably taste better. The pizza is fine, but the sauce has no taste for the pizza or pasta. The wait staff is less than friendly. At the end we asked for a box to go for our pizza and the box when we opened it was already used, so we had to ask for another. I like to give somewhere the benefit of the doubt. We felt the first time around the pizza was just ok but we decided to give them another try a few months later..that unfortunately left us underwhelmed. Staff: Both visits there was one waitress. The first time the girl was on top of it..for the entire restaurant. Second time we had to ask for our table to be wiped down, waitress asked when she dropped food off if our kids wanted refills on their half drank drinks but never came back to ask us again or checked on us. She also was alone in the dining area, which is not her fault so we definitely cut her some slack but she was in no hurry to seat anyone, get orders, check up or anything in between. Food: One of our pizza's came out perfectly cooked, hot and looked and tasted great. The other was cooked all the way but there was no crisp to it and it was luke warm at best. Half of the pizza was a Margarita pizza. I choose this because generally they are made with very light red sauce if any at all and that's how I like it. This one came out with so much red sauce it overpowered the pizza. The fresh basil on top had a good amount of stems and buds. It was a disappointment from the first bite. I would suggest not being in a hurry when you eat here either. I'm a pretty patient person but over an hour to get 2 medium pizza's when there was only one dine in order ahead of us was pretty ridiculous. read more

Placed an order through ToastTab (direct with the restaurant) on Mother's Day. The confirmation email said 35 minutes, but my order wasn't ready until about 90 minutes after I ordered. I understand high volume on Mother's Day, but this was wildly off. They gave out free beer to keep waiting folks happy, which I thought was nice. I wouldn't have cared about the wait if the food was stellar. We had cheese sticks and onion rings for an appetizer and neither was hot. The cheese inside the cheese sticks was barely cooked and the breading had basically no flavor. The onion rings were better but, again, nothing special. Our dishes were the spaghetti supreme and the chicken Romano sandwich. Neither were stellar. The sandwich was the best of the lot. Unfortunately, this visit was a miss. I'm sure we'll try again-especially for pizza, which seemed to be coming out promptly-but probably not for carry out, pasta, or on a special day. read more

So the food just isn't great and the price is too high for what you get. We got a cheese pizza which was not great, like a frozen pizza is maybe better. We got side salads and they were super basic for the price with iceberg lettuce, not worth the $5 they charge. Then we got the cheese bread and it also wasn't great. Finally a side of spaghetti and maybe that was the highlight! Honestly no issues with customer service, just poor quality of food that costs too much for what you actually get. I've been to Scornovacca's Waukee twice now and both times I've not been impressed. It's okay food, not awesome food. My wife was craving something cheesy and local - we decided to give Scorno's a try. We ordered a medium chicken Alfredo pizza, cheese sticks, and chicken tenders/fries with nacho cheese for pickup. The quoted time of ~35 minutes was accurate. We arrive for pickup and the lady running the register couldn't find our order - she kept asking if we were picking up for Doordash or UberEats. Finally, she did find our order. The pizza was okay, hardly any sauce on it and the crust wasn't crispy, the fries were limp and tasteless along with them not including the nacho cheese sauce, and the cheese sticks were not homemade as advertised, they appeared to be premade from a frozen bag. Overall, Scorno's isn't a favorite, but compared to some of the other chain options in the metro, they are still better. I'd recommend Scorno's go back to their roots on the south-side and bring that quality delicious food they are known for there to Waukee and you'll have easy five star reviews! read more

I am not usually someone who writes bad reviews but my experience tonight at this restaurant was the worst experience I have ever had. We called in a carry out order at 5:20. The said the Order would be ready by 6:30. When I arrived to pick up the order there was a line 15 people deep waiting for their carry out order. When I finally made my way to the front of the line after waiting another 30 minutes they couldn't even tell me if my food had been started. There was countless people that had been waiting for their food for well over 60 minutes past their quoted pick up time. There was food in the warmer that had been sitting there for 45 minutes or more. I feel so bad for the employees because management set them up for complete failure. For a business that has been around for as long as they have you would think they would have a system in place but it was quite the opposite. I left the restaurant with no food and a very disappointed and hungry family. They better get some sort of organization figured out very quickly because they are going to lose customers very quickly. read more

Lunch here on Saturday. Service was great! Ate at the Southside location for lunch for many years and really excited that they are now in Waukee. My wife and I had the 6" lunch pizza. Wonderful!
