All the programs have been awesome with the exception of Kidz Love Soccer. (They are not run by City of Roseville and it's obvious by the horrible way they treat the kids. Avoid this program if you want your children to be treated like they are human beings!) ALL the other programs are awesome and somehow everyone involved is encouraging and kind to the children as well as being very professional with parents. The preschool program is so great (especially the lovely Miss Karen Foley!!! ) The swimming program is so great and ALL the instructors are just amazing with the kids. My son has been in swimming since he was -1 and I've loved EVERY instructor. LOVED! While watching my son's classes I also have observed the special needs instructors and have almost teared up at how patient and encouraging they are with even the most challenging of special needs children. Awesome! Get the guide at the library and enjoy the fun!

We have used Roseville Parks and Rec as our sole swimming instruction for our children (ages 3 and…read more5) for the past 2+ years. We come back year after year because of the swim instructors. They are patient with the kids and professional dealing with the parents. Our kids are currently at the Duck and Otter level and they look forward to lessons and meeting their "coaches" each session. When dealing with the office staff, they too have been extremely helpful in refunding money for sessions we've had to cancel due to vacations/conflicts and calling to let us know of availability in sessions we are wait-listed for. I highly recommend them for their swim lessons as well as friendliness in customer service during open swim times.

I will never, ever be back at this library. Absolutely disgusting. Security guard there does nothing to stop the homeless from acting up. He just sits there offers no help what so ever. It should just be given to the homeless since it's basically a homeless shelter.

I've been here once before a couple of years ago, but recently, we wanted to stop by again. The library is NOT part of the Placer County library system, which was pointed out to me (I already knew, but it was good to be reminded) as I signed up for a Roseville library card! Did you know that as a CA resident that you can sign up for a library card at locations NOT in your county/city of residence? Yup, you do have to return physical items to one of the branches of whatever library system you borrow from, BUT if you were just using their e-materials like Libby or Hoopla, then it's NO problem! So I decided I wanted another library card, so I quickly applied online (short form) and then went up to the information desk and the librarian/assistant attentively helped me right away and gave me an overview of Roseville's library offerings as well as rules and regulations (and fees/fines). Unlike many other library systems, they DO have late fees here, but I don't plan to borrow physical books or any other kinds of tangible materials, so I won't have to worry about that. Onto the library itself. One side is books for adults (I hesitate to write adult books lest people misunderstand, lol) and there are many shelves of grown up books, so their collection seems quite comprehensive. Next, there's a shelf of Friends of the Library books for sale, not a whole lot, but a respectable amount. Then there's the kids section on the opposite side of the library, and there's a good amount of book stacks on shorter shelves that do not block the view of kids which I finally noticed is the case at like all libraries, lol. Not sure why I never made that connection before. It's a smaller children's area than other libraries, but they tried to make it more cheerful w/more colorful furniture and decorations/posters on the walls. There are also kids' computers that only kids can use so that's good. Finally, there's a community room that's pretty big for meetings and if you want to have a private event or party, it seems you can rent it for reasonable rates (see pics). Outside of that room, there's a courtyard, but I didn't see a way to get out there as the door leading out was locked, maybe it's only for staff to hang out and eat lunch in? I'm not sure, but that meeting room has a lot of nice natural light streaming in b/c of the floor to ceiling windows. Overall, this is an older, but well maintained and kind of quaint library next to Maidu Community Center which is inside the Maidu Regional Park (which I've not yet explore, maybe next time). PS - obligatory bathroom visit: clean, but older, some rust on the metal doors/walls, could use an update on some of the facilities, but everything was functional.

IIRC, we've been here before, but it's been a while. This is an older library from the looks of it, but it's pretty well kept up. It's clean and quite open inside. The bathrooms at near the entrance and they were ok, my kid says it's a little messy inside probably from inconsiderate patrons, but it's still overall clean. Once you enter the library, you'll see the front desk / information desk. The wife had some questions and the staff was helpful to provide the info. Meanwhile, I wandered around a bit. On the left side of the library is the adult section with many rows of book shelves, there's also 1 long wall of books for sale by the Friends of the Library. Not a huge selection, but they had a nice variety for kids and adults alike. The kids area is on the right side of the library, not very big, but good enough. There are also about half a dozen computers dedicated for the kids to use. Towards the back there's a community room you can rent by the half-hour, guess you can't just reserve it for free. You're allowed to use it if no one else is occupying it and it's not being rented out, but for your own event, guess you have to rent it. All in all, this library isn't very big, but it's good-sized enough for the community as there are 2 other libraries operated by the City of Roseville, this library is not part of the Placer County library system, so it's important not to mix them up in case you do check out books from both systems. The look of the library is definitely dated, but it's kept clean and organized and it's nicely set inside the Maidu Regional Park so it feels safe and it's surrounded by nature, we'll definitely visit again.

The Applegate Civic Center Club is a renovated old school house in Applegate, California......that…read morehas been converted into a Rental Hall and Wedding venue. .....It will hold up to 125 persons (wedding reception only). There are many great outdoor sites nearby (including my own lovely 3 acres in Applegate) for the ceremony, but you need a nice air conditioned indoor site for your reception, especially in the summertime when Sacramento hits 100 degrees F. Applegate Civic Center Club is at 2100 ft. elevation, which places it "Above The Fog" (wintertime) and "Below The Snow". Many times over the years, we've had parties at this facility....most of them for our young daughter in the form of birthday parties. One time, it was around March 5th (daughter's b-day), and it was 42 degrees and foggy in the Flatlands, but at the Civic Center it was a nice balmy 60+ degrees and sunny! Similarly in the summer, we've had events here when Sac was 104 degrees F, while it was a comfortable 96 degrees in Applegate. The air conditioners at Applegate Civic Center were recently installed, making the building much more comfortable than the old Swamp Cooler. They recently remodeled kitchen and the floors, and new windows and acoustical treatment was recently applied to the ceilings to improve the sound. Overall, an excellent budget wedding venue. For brides that want to save on the wedding reception facility, Applegate Civic Center is only available on Saturdays (8 am to 11 pm) and Sundays (8 am to 11 pm). Having rented this facility in the past I would have given it 3 stars but having completed a recent walk-thru, I'm really impressed and the price is right: only $200 per day, $125 security deposit. Because of the price and the newly improved quality of this wedding facility, I'm giving them 4 stars. One of my neighbors recently used the same venue for a family party, and they were completely satisfied with the results.

I looked throughout the Auburn area for a location for a surprise birthday party and found this charmingly renovated schoolhouse to be the ultimate surprise setting for around 100 guests. Tables and chairs were provided (we did set up and take down), along with access to kitchen facilities for the entire day of the event, which made decorating, storing and cooking a breeze. Plenty of parking, too. I paid a refundable cleaning deposit and $200 for access for a full day Can't beat that price for what was included. I believe in keeping local community history alive so will rent this lovely facility again.

The children's area is on the opposite side of the computers and desks so I don't have any issues with distractions. I've reserved the study rooms a few times. Sac libraries limit study room reservations to one hour at a time for individuals and small groups. I just don't think that's enough time for ample studying/working. I wish the reservation blocks were three hours at maximum. Fortunately, there are a handful of desks to use with enough space for one adult or maybe two children.

They also have a used book store area with some gently used books for sale to support the library. However, I didn't feel safe letting my kid play on the playground. A lot of adults with no children hanging around on the playground equipment or in the grass.
