Reception: Kristen was great. So soft spoken, and polite. Lynn the owner was at a different desk. She was loud for the setting. Making a personal appointment on her cellphone, she at one point placed them on speaker phone so she could check her calendar and make the appointment. At that point I got the entire conversation and Kristen was on the other line trying to help other clients. I do feel that was a little unprofessional to be that loud in the setting we were all in. Britt was my massage therapist. She was fantastic. My massage was a relaxing one. I normally do not talk too much during the relaxing massages because well, I'm relaxing! Ha. I love this spa!!! My therapist is truly the best! I come frequently but my recent visit has not been at all pleasant. During my time, it was brought to the Owners (I believe her name is Lynn) that a sexual assault occurred during a session. This was handled in such a repulsive manner I truly cannot believe what I witnessed. She down played the situation because the therapist was a man and then recommended that he not "come off" that way. Truly shocking, I wanted to truly apologize to that man for what he had to deal by his own boss. No urgency!!! I sat in my car hoping I would see the police come to take a report but I did not see anything. I do not believe I will be returning this situation has rubbed me so wrongly. I truly hope that young man has a strong support system because I'm sure he has been traumatized by this incident. read more

DeStress Express is good for pedicures. I only had a pedicure and it was decent. The atmosphere is a cookie cutter design. Very small room for the pedicure. Megumi is the therapist and has very good energy. They also have manicures and massage packages. I didn't do any of those. read more

When you called Destress they were able to get me in immediately. They were very helpful and professional on the phone. Check in was easy and no wait. Angel was my masseuse and let me tell you, her name is so fitting because I was in HEAVEN. We had a brief discussion about what my needs and preferences were. Once the massage started I knew I was in the right place. Pressure was great, technique was outstanding!! It wasn't long before I drifted off into a bliss of relaxation. I had back surgery a few months ago and while I am healing well, I was experiencing a lot of muscle soreness, particularly around my hips, and between my shoulders. I was set up with a massage therapist who knew exactly what to do. Nathan was intuitive and worked miracles with both my muscle soreness and the headache I had when I arrived. I was extremely pleased with the massage and booked another session with him before I left. The next day at work, I was close to pain-free and my coworkers noticed how well I was moving. Wife got me the dudes day off for my birthday. I get a massage every couple of months and this is one of the best I have ever received. Very nice and also continued to ask was the pressure good and if I needed anything which I appreciated. Manicure was good just shaped my nails. Pedicure was really nice. I absolutely love this place! When I first moved to this area I was in search of a new massage therapist, thankfully I came here and got an amazing hour and a half massage from Natasha! I've been going for over a year now. All the things I've liked about different massage therapist seemed to roll right into one. I find that she is very attentive to what I need in terms of if I tell her my neck or leg is bothering me. Not to mention you can't beat the price! Its $75 for an hour and half, and if you buy 4 or more at a time it's only $70. You can also purchase any of their services online! I've never had a problem getting an appointment. Oh and all the rooms are decorated so nicely, really makes you feel comfortable and at home. One day I tried a facial and I hadn't had one before but it was great, I felt very refreshed afterwards! I like to get this done before special occasions or vacations because it does seem to give you a certain glow. I also did microderm abrasion once (they had a special) and that was good too. This really is a one stop shop because I also get my pedicures here as well. I love the cute designs they put on my toes! I get a lot of compliments on them. Scents were not overpowering, and the massage therapist asked my preference - something I've never been asked!! Iv been getting my nails done since I was 12 and I'm 30 now ..... today I went to use the rest of my mother's day gift at DeStress Express Massage Therapy in Newport News and experienced the WORST 2 hour mani/pedi in the world!! My nails look like my 7 year old daughter sat me down to play dress up and did my nails now let me be clear the Massage and Reflexology was AMAZING and that part gets 5 stars......but oommggg my nails are sooooo screwed up I was in tears smh ...... the office manager didn't charge me for the service but technically it was a gift card so it was already paid for and now I have to search for a nail salon that's open on a Sunday and come out of my pocket to fix this problem ( for the record the office manger was very nice and understood my issue even tho she tried to come up with excuses as to why her nail tech sucks) ‍ read more

PASS on the nail service here! (I read the reviews, but all were in regards to the massage services but hoped the nail service would be as good). The room was great (very relaxing atmosphere) & lacked the odor that I normally can't tolerate w/ my asthma. I agree w/ other reviewers that the walls are thin. Kay was very friendly sweet, HOWEVER, our manicures weren't straight & she missed the sides of the nail consistently. I had scheduled this for my maid of honor & I before my wedding & basically had to eat $175 bill that we had to rush & re-do in the car to the ceremony. My suggestion would to get better task lighting and maybe magnifying glasses if Kay is struggling to see adequately, but I have gotten better manicures at the Beauty school. :( read more

I've been here twice. The first time, it was wonderful. A much needed massage and stress relief was needed. But the second time was absolutely my last time. I'm not sure if the young lady who did my massage was inexperienced or in training, whatever the case may be, she definitely made me feel so much worse than I did prior to coming. She was rough during the massage, which made it nearly impossible to relax. She dug a little too deep. It was horrible! I was sore and aching for weeks after the massage. Nope! I've had about 10 massages or so here and I can say with the uptmost confidence that it's the best in the area!!!! You wouldn't be able to tell from the outside, but its very cute and well-decorated on the inside. It's located in a business strip, in the middle of nowhere, so I always feel kind of sketch coming here. The front desk receptionist is quick and pleasant, often knowing you by name. The waiting room is a little bit cramped, but its usually empty so not a biggie. Almost every time I've come here I was able to get my appointment earlier than scheduled. I've played around with the therapists and realized almost all of them have the same exact technique from start to finish. I was told the manager trained them all and they have to do her style of massage. Not complaining, because I really love knowing that Im going to get the same quality from any member of their team. Deep Tissue tends to be done way too hard, but Destress Express opts for a slower, more technical approach. Hands down the best scalp and neck massage! They have about 6-8 rooms, Im not too sure what the exact number is, but they are all decorated just right. I feel extremely comfortable in each and every room and love the interesting colors and artwork. The music is typical for this kind of establishment, and played at just the right noise level. Natasha has been the best IMO (just dont overbook, please save some space on her calander for me! ) The prices are up there, but its about the same anywhere else for this level of quality.
