Destroy Pest Control came out and took care of a Yellowjacket nest in my chimney. The technician methodically assessed the problem and approached the nest from inside and outside the house. The technician located the nest and used a pesticide to kill them. Service was untimely, unprofessional, and ultimately ineffective. I called Destroy for a mouse problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They showed up a couple of hours after the estimated time window, citing a delay at a previous job.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It happens, not a big deal. They came and sprayed around the outside, plugged some gaps, and set up 3 or 4 bait traps and some sticky traps. This took all of 20 minutes. They talked me into a one year service plan that costs $1484. (I immediately felt I had been strong armed by the technician). He had also said the only way we would resolve the mouse problem was to replace all of the insulation in a part of the house. The cost was $10,000+. I declined their upsell. (A second opinion advised this insulation was unnecessary). The service plan was to come back in a month to reassess the mouse situation and replace traps. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We scheduled the next service with a window of 9 am - 12 pm. I stayed home from work to wait for them. After hearing nothing , I called at 11 am for a status. I was told they were running behind and could not be there until 1 pm[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. That didn't work for me so we rescheduled for the next day from 8am - 11am. I stressed that I was only available until 8:45. They reassured me that I would be the first appointment. (We live about 20 minutes from their office). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The following day, we stayed home again. Heard nothing until 8:26 when the technician said they were running late and could be there after 9.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Frustrated, we adjusted our schedule and waited. The technician showed up reeking of weed. It was apparent the technician had smoked very recently. Perhaps that was part of the reason for the delay. They did the service and left in about 20 minutes. The technician offered to take $50 off for our trouble. Strangely, he Venmo'ed us $25 from his personal account. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called later to express my concerns. I spoke directly to the owner, Thomas. He was professional and offered to personally come back and take a look at the mouse problem. He said he'd cancel our contract and prorate the money if we wished.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I stressed I had a very short time window and had to leave the house by 8:45. He assured me multiple times that he'd be "in your driveway by 7:30". The next day, after hearing nothing, I called at 8:30. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thomas had forgotten our appointment. He said he could be there in 20 minutes. I reminded him how he quite literally guaranteed that he'd be in our driveway by 7:30. He eventually said "You're right, you got me".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He agreed to refund us our money for the contract. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To his credit, Thomas heard my complaint with professionalism and was apologetic. His offer to take care of the issue personally at no additional cost was appreciated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had he followed through, we would have likely remained customers. I followed up 3 times over the next 3 weeks. Heard nothing until a month later. They refunded me $935, thereby charging me over $500 for two service appointments that took all of 20-30 minutes each. VERY DISAPPOINTED after months of their attempts to get rid of the voles, I still have them. Owner made promises claiming that what sets him apart from the others is "he likes a challenge" and when you hire Destroy Pest we will get him - the owner. At first, I wasn't going to say anything, but I was just appalled about my experience. I called and spoke with Thomas on Sunday about a wasp nest in my backyard. He was very pleasant and told me to send my address and email as he would be able to come the next day. I sent my information as requested. The next day I hadn't heard from him and had called him around 1045 am. He apologized and told me he had two persons call with the name Sonia on the same day I called. We laughed it off. I understood and he set with me on the phone and sent me the appointment time frame from 11-2 the same day. By 4 pm, he hadn't arrived. I called at 4:05 pm and he answered. He said "did I send the On my way" text. I said "no" and apologized. He said "hold on" and then the phone hung up. I was on the highway and I thought the phone hung because of the reception. Called back and he never answered. Nor did he return my call. I did send a text saying, "Hi Thomas! It appears we are not able to make this happen for some reason. During our last call, your line hung up. I did call you back. I will just seek some other company. I do thank you for your time." Situation: My wife and I are allergic to bees. While cleaning the deck I discovered a small paper-wasp nest under our grill. With guest coming on Sunday we needed it removed the same day, on Saturday. Destroy pest cake out sprayed the nest and removed it for us. Negatives: - It was a little expensive, We were charged $200.00 to remove the rather small nest as shown in the picture. That being said it was same day service - The guy was unable to accept a credit card and I had to go to the ATM to pull out the $200.00 in cash, although he was very apologetic for the inconvenience, it was Saturday and I didn't mind running to pull out cash. - did not respond to request for price quote prior to arriving. Positives: - They arrived on time - Provided same day service on a Saturday. - Total time to remove the nest was less then 5 minutes. Summary: Good company same day service but a little pricy. The service we received was satisfactory but they REALLY need to fix their scheduling system. The first appoint we had, the tech was almost 3 hours late. They scheduled us for a follow up appointment on Labor Day and told us we would need to empty our cabinets, which we did. Turns out they weren't actually open on Labor Day so we waited all day and no one ever came. Ultimately, they ended up not coming until 2 days later, so we just had to deal with our belongings sitting everywhere since we had emptied our cabinets. read more

January 2019 we had mice. We live in the woods so it was bound to happen. We called Destroy Pest Control. Within 2 visits, they had taken care of the problem. They set traps, did a thorough review of our property, and plugged up any and all holes that could have contributed to the problem. They were always on time and taught us alot along the way. For instance, when we were having our kitchen remodeled, I located a hole behind the stove and plugged it just as I was taught. When the kitchen remodel included additional plumbing under the sink and installing a new dishwasher, I was certain to make sure all of the steelwool around the piping and tubing was in place. I called Destroy with concerns that we might have bed bugs. I was very impressed when I spoke with Al, who was able to schedule a technician to come out even though we are out near Dulles in VA. However, the technician who came out (Daryl, I think) didn't really do much of an inspection at all. I eventually found out that we don't even have bed bugs, we have carpet beetles. I showed him bags and bags of the bugs that we caught, and he failed to inform me that they weren't bed bugs. He also failed to inform me that he didn't see any signs of bed bugs in our mattresses or elsewhere in the house. Instead, he gave us a quote that it would cost over $3,000 to treat our house for bed bugs, when it typically costs only $100 - $200 to treat carpet beetles. That's pretty dishonest. read more

The company is responsive and the technician is professional and caring . I had an original mouse problem in the attic earlier this year. Destroy took care of it. The mice came back through another opening, this summer and Destroy is currently taking care of it at no extra charge. They are also taking care of my beginning termite issue as well. Thomas never completed the work. He said treatments would work but I still have bugs inside my house. He applied treatments two times on different occasions but treatments never worked. He said he would follow up via telephone regarding each treatment but he never called. when I called regarding all follow ups he said he would stop by but he was always and always had an excuse for showing up late. He never called to say that he was running late, NEVER. For the last treatment, he never called. So I called and he gave me two excuses and said he would call when he was on his way. Needless to say, he never called and he never showed up for the last treatment. Overall, Thomas was ALWAY late, NEVER called to say that he would be late, never apologize for being late, never returned any of my phone calls, never treated my house. Most important, he never showed up for the last treatment. I still have insects in my house even though he applied two treatments on two separate occasions.
