I went in for a tour with Laura and was ready to go through Detrays for my purchase. Upon following up to get more information about prices for different upgrades I was told I need to give them at least a thousand dollars and have land bought before I would need to meet with them in person if I wanted to make any adjustments to the model I was looking at. Laura was extremely condescending even when I explained I had a modest down payment saved up. I was laughed/scoffed at just for trying to do preliminary research. I was ready to purchase through this company but I won't consider it now. If they're going to present themselves as an affordable housing option, they they would do better by not laughing at potential customers for asking extremely basic questions. I'm extremely disheartened after this latest experience and hope any potential buyers approach with caution. I'd give the tour two stars because I did get to see some of what I wanted, but she decided to include another couple with my tour without notice or care. The phone conversation gets 0 stars. This is an update. I will be tearing off and replacing the full ridge cap on my home. It started lifting after just 18 months. Pic shows it lifting up, allowing weather in. In the factories defense, the original install was torn out and replaced, by Detray's/Skyline. About 70% of the roofing had to be replaced by order of the fire marshal because Detrays/Skyline sprinkler system guy did not install fire sprinklers to code. Geez, that doesn't sound like much of a defense...... 90% of the issues we have had are related to workmanship, I have no beef w quality of most materials used. Buyer beware: Dana Detray's will tell you "this is a factory problem, not our problem." read more

My boyfriend & I were 90% set on the classical house. We just needed the credit application, and basic house information. I went back, and this old women came out with an attitude telling me the homes were locked. She was absolutely rude for no reason. She definitely assumed since I was young- that I wasn't worth her time. She wouldn't even give me the baseline price without the credit application??? This experience is why I will NOT be purchasing through them. They lost a customer. Unless your over the age of 40 I don't recommend going here. read more

DeTray's has horrible customer service. They pretend to be nice until they have your money. Dana DeTray the owner is very unprofessional and tells you what you want to hear. He has no problem letting you know you that they have 120 other clients that are important and that he has been in this business a long time and if you try to talk to him, he will tell you how it's going to go or just walk away and ignores you. Their service department is a joke. We have been waiting 2 months for our house to be completed. The center section of 3 was damaged due to improper covering during a rain and snow event. They are trying to get by as cheaply as they can even though there is more damage. Communication is horrible and we have been failed in every level by DeTray's. We are not sure that this time that the home is stable as Michael this afternoon 3/1/18 asked by phone "did you happen to purchase the warranty"? The TNT contractor on their list of available contractors to use is also a joke! DO NOT use TNT Property Preservation if you decide to purchase a home from DeTray's. I have attached pictures of the once beautiful home that sat on the front of their show lot and how it currently looks and that has become a nightmare. We have made 3 payments on a home we can't live in and don't have an end date at this time. We suggest you purchase your home from another vendor as they have been difficult from day 1 to work with. *Update #2. After waiting 6 months and multiple requests for one of their crews to remove construction debris, we finally removed 2,000 lbs of material ourselves at a cost of $240.00. No one would take responsibility to help us out from the contractor TNT property preservation (Richard Paul Lewis), DeTray's or the set up team, they each point the finger at the other as everyone else's responsibility except each other's. Communication has gotten even worse especially with Michael the project manager. It is now 2 years since signing contracts with DeTrays and we still are waiting for repair work along with warranty work to be completed (excuse after excuse). We have walked with DeTrays crew multiple times and they continue to ask for our lists of repairs already submitted multiple times. Be careful when dealing with this company. We put down the $1000 deposit they ask for. When our loan was not approved they only refunded $750. They pocketed $250. I think that is pretty greedy! They say that is to cover the work they did which consisted of writing up a purchase agreement. What that says to me is that you step in their front door you are costing them money. We are now 4 months into our home in Ocean Shores we purchased through Detrays and I wanted to wait to write our review. A year ago, We were about to move to Ocean Shores to retire and wanted a beach style house. After many hours on the internet checking our building options we choose to talk with two builders - Detrays and a builder of homes in the NW. We had a prior visit to Detrays so we kinda knew what they had. We set up an appointment with both builders. In talking with Detrays we found their staff, Dana, and Diane very helpful. They helped us plan a house we could retire in - from adding a fire place to a dormer for more light. We did up graded several areas of the house to our liking and ended up with a house that Fit us very well. Before we finalized with Detrays, We checked out the other builder that builds in OS and by the time we got done with some upgrades or changes we wanted it was almost twice the price of the custom home we designed with Detrays. The builder didn't want to make any adjustments to their floor plans and come find out, we would have to contract out for paint, flooring, and exterior paint since it wasn't part of the home price. It was an easy choice at that point since we wanted a move in ready home. Prior to placing our order, Dana and Diane Detray met us on our lot to go over everything about the house we chosen. Once we placed our order, We admit the house took several months longer than we thought it would but adding an attached garage didn't help with the timeline. We did stay in contact Detrays during the whole process - they kept us updated on the progress. Also we found out - in Ocean Shores everything runs on beach time. Since we have lived in Ocean Shores we have noticed nothing goes up fast or moves fast. From day one we have enjoyed our house - a few things needed attention we found during the walk thru and Kit Homes had their crew out fixing those issues within 2 weeks of being in the house. The fit and finish of the house is great. It is well insulated and solid built. We feel we have a custom beach home that is exactly what we wanted to retire in. read more

So myself and my husband have both been to Detrays twice once on Monday 2/16 and Tuesday 2/17 the first time we drove up we walked into the office and waited a good five minutes and no one came out to help us. We basically gave up waiting and just started walking into the homes they had on site. We liked what we saw but a lady came around locking them all up around 5:15pm so we didnt get to finish and left. We came back on Tuesday to finish looking at some of the houses. My husband went back inside I stayed outside. He soon afterwards came out alone with a panflet and a business card. I asked what happened? He was basically told that everything we need to know is online and to call if we have any questions. Oh, and she asked if he already had land to put the house on. Really? Because I dont remember any prices online and that would seem to a pretty big factor in purchasing one of their homes dont you think? I am so incredibly disappointed with the huge lack of customer service, we not only made one attempt but two. Needless to say we went down the road about a mile away to American Home Center and received excellent customer service. I doubt I will go back to Detrays even though they seemed to have some wonderful floor plans and models, even if I did there is no guarantee of actually being helped. Very Disappointed. read more

She called my father in law who is a Vietnam Veteran a, " pathetic soul" and , "gravely"? As with most sales people, they will tell you *anything* to get you to buy their product, even promise you things that you'll learn later are an impossibility. Mike Buck was the person that we worked with. When we wanted out of our contract because they weren't upholding their end, you know... building us a house, he straight up told us that he didn't believe that we were going to follow through on buying property and that's why he wasn't finishing up our project. Seems to me that the thousands we paid as a deposit was enough to show that we were serious... I guess not. We did get some our money back, after being accused of wanting to get out of the contract to go with another dealer (not at all the case), but it was such a hassle. Our project has changed since having to deal with DeTray's, but it is complete now! I guess they didn't want the 700k that we ended up spending. I wonder what the commission on that would have been. I would never send anyone I care about to this place. Once our family visited the area where we moved to, they have decided to join us... they will *not* be buying a home from DeTray's, so more money lost by them... but by the way they treat people, I doubt they actually care. Don't get me wrong, purchasing/designing the home was wonderful. Lora a top notch sales gal. It was during a pandemic so "waiting" tested our patience Once home was delivered in April - DeTrays received full funding from our lender. Well - the Customer Service then ended. We received keys to the home in late August after what we thought was all take care of but still there countless issues such as a non working furnace, chimney not installed - cleaning was sub par. It was by finally looking inside that I saw the window blinds I upgraded were a "no" It's been a countless string of emails etc to try and get these things taken care of. Today, November 4 we might or might not have a working chimney.... Did I mention we've been making full payments on this home since delivery. Love the Skyline home but PLEASE see to buy somewhere else if you'd like to keep your stress levels low. Or wish to deal with a company where customer and referrals do matter. read more

The absolute worse purchasing experience of any kind we have ever had. I wish I could issue a minus 5 star rating. Two years of our lives put on hold because of non existent customer service, rude treatment, extortion, lies and so much more. If it appeals to you to pay construction loan house payments month after month and utilities on a fully functioning home that you are locked out of, then these are the people you want to do business with. I think its ok to peek in the windows, but you will have to look around a very large sign advertising for DeTray's. We have been living in an RV in our driveway with a sani can as a restroom for over 6 months now. Our house has been here for over two months, but they just can't find the time to come do the dry wall fixes and lay the carpet, so here we sit, day after day, week after week, month after month making payments on something we are not allowed to use. If it sounds entertaining to you to deal with a contractor that charges some pretty outrageous prices and when you question the costs, they walk away from you forcing you to find your own contractor. (our attorney said at this point DeTrays were in breach of contract, but we didn't know that back then). The contractor we found, after talking with several, did the job for less than half the price of DeTrays contractor and did an amazing job. Or if you want to waste your time with DeTrays banker that fiddles around month after month asking for the same paperwork over and over and after you pay thousands of dollars for inspections, permits and even an appraisal, he denies you the loan forcing you to go through it all over again with a competent banker that can approve you in a week. If this sounds fun, then let DeTray's hook you up. If you have a lot of extra money laying around that you don't know what to do with, here is the answer to your problem. After having to find your own contractor and learn the business, taking lots of time you didn't know you were going to have to spend and obviously delaying your project. When your house is completed, and sitting on a lot somewhere, you will get a "demand letter" from them telling you your site prep must be completed or you will face storage and interest fees on a house that you don't own, have never seen and don't have on your property. When our site was ready only a couple of months later, they held our house hostage till we could cough up several thousand dollars in extortion fees. If you enjoy doing business with people who continually set appointments with you and are chronic "no-call, no-shows", then you came to the right place at DeTray's. When you first put down your earnest money, they are responsive and polite, but after you write that check and walk away, all of the promises of "in a few months you will be in your new home", etc.. go out the window. They have zero customer service towards their current customers and only care about selling more homes. You will be put off time after time because of home shows or special sales, or just because they are short staffed or my favorite, "they have other priorities". When I replied to their email with "I waited all day and no one showed", after being stood up time after time for appointments that they had made with us regarding our site. I was responded to with an email stating "is she drunk?" I have been called "drunk","crazy" and "stupid" and they have said personally demeaning things about us to our contractors. This project has been going on for 2 years now, and we still can't live in our house. If it sounds fun to live like homeless people on your own property and enjoy going to the laundry mat twice a week for months and months, then buy a house from these guys. They have no timelines, contracts, appointments or promises that can't be broken or changed at their whim. You too could be as unfortunate. Do not do business with these people. read more

Update: It's 6 weeks later and we're in the house we were originally buying, so no need for a manufactured home. It's a good thing because these folks never called us with the information we were seeking. We plan to sell this house in about 5 years and get a bigger house on more land. When we do, we won't be doing business here. If we go with a manufactured home, we'll shop elsewhere. (I downgraded them to one star because really, they did nothing but waste our time.) Original review: We are in the "what do we do if..." stage of home buying. We are supposed to be closing on a house this week, but something yucky came back on the title. Unless that can get cleared up, we'll need other options. Not finding a lot of what we're looking for on the market, we wanted to see what a manufactured home looked like these days. (They're very nice!) But this review isn't about a type of housing, it's about this particular dealership. We came on a Saturday and... a madhouse. It was crazy. First there was no parking. The lot was jammed full of cars. I kind of hung out in the driveway and waited for someone to leave, and I got my car parked. We went into the office and it was chaos. People everywhere, talking loudly, trying to be heard over each other. It seemed each salesperson had 3-4 people they were trying to work with, and doing a poor job with all of them. We were told to go walk through the houses and then come back. Uh... hello? Prices? That's kind of an important factor. I got one of the women to jot down some prices that sort of made sense, and off we went. It's kind of hard to be wandering through a home with 6 strangers and imagine living there. You can't talk openly about what you're seeing because there are so many other people around. It was nuts. But we looked at the homes and discussed what we saw, then went back to the office to get more information. You really can't get much information when each person is trying to help 3-4 people at a time. Our person would rush in back, grab us some handouts, then rush off to do something for someone else. Questions? Flag her down again. She'll have to call with the answers. Give us your information and wait for us to contact you. Here's a thought... you want $100-$200k from me? How about you have enough people working there so you can greet me politely, show me the homes, give me prices, answer my questions, and give me more than 5-10 minutes of frequently interrupted time. I'd get better customer service from a used car salesman. Nice houses though. read more

Terrible Terrible customer service from start to....Not finishing almost 2 years later!! Call and emailed about problems over and over to get fixed and NOBODY calls or emails back ever. Just put I. Another call today and nothing. Everything is a bandaid patch job. Open nail holes on roof to give a leak as well. Took care of those ourselves knowing you can't trust them to get I'd done anyway. He was very friendly and helpful with all the information we needed about the house and how to start the process. Jason also went out of his way to send us available properties he came across. We had a house fire as a result of a faulty bath fan and decided to replace it with a manufactured home. We (my wife and I) found a model we liked and shared our contact information with a salesperson. He called a few days later to follow up so we went back and explained our situation. We were encouraged to leave a $500 Earnest Money which would get a contractor involved to provide a quote. After about 10 days we got a call and a guy did show up. He looks around and says it's going to be at least $40,000 and that DeTray's doesn't provide anything other than finishing work. In fact, gutters aren't provided and delivery is extra unless they determine it is an extremely easy drop off point. When I asked the salesperson about the gutters he gives me a piece of paper and says it's listed there. Seems like they would have talked about that. To make a long story short, once they got our Earnest Money the follow up was usually a result of me calling them. The contractor never provided a written quote and it just felt like they didn't care if we made a purchase or not. After six weeks of no action, we requested a refund. I sent two emails and made two phone calls and finally got a check minus $100 for their time in getting a factory quote on some changes we wanted plus the contractor visit. Unless you are prepared to do a lot of research and talk to multiple contractors, I would NOT recommend DeTray's. Nice enough people but lousy with follow up and communication. read more

Zac accompanied us as we wandered through the display models, answered our questions and when he didn't know something immediately went for assistance. We will be buying our home from them. If you would like to have a house like this that you can share with your local birds and critters, you too should buy a "Skyline" home from "Detrays" in Puyallup. I purchased a new home from Detrays and after many weeks of delays the house was finally delivered to our property in Packwood Wa. It was set up within 3 days and then it all came to a screeching halt. First it was going to be done by Memorial Day, then the middle of June, then July 4th. I finally had to drive to Puyallup and kick and scream to finally get my house finished to the point we could finally move in. We moved in on July 7th and now nearly 3 weeks later, we still cannot cook meals in our new home because they neglected to send all of the pieces to our propane cook top in the kitchen, we can't test our propane fireplace because they neglected to wire it for operation and they haven't installed the chimney and cap yet. And worst of all, after 2 1/2 months the eve of my new home is still open to the animals and the elements due to a manufacturing mistake at the factory and nobody I talk to at Detrays or the Skyline factory seem concerned enough to even call me back to discuss when these issues will be addressed. Just a word of caution, when you're looking at new homes at Detrays they make everything sound really nice and you get "a lot" of attention. After the order is placed and they have received the funds for your new home, my experience tells me you will have many disappointments and a great deal of stress trying to get your home completed. When any of the Detrays team tells you, "I'll look in to that and get back to you" don't plan on hearing from them again until you track them down, because that has been my experience throughout this whole process. Well after a $500 non-refundable deposit, which I had to make before options could be discussed, and $36,500 & a mortgage in process for the balance my journey began with DeTrays. Since I had sold my home & had to rent until the mfg home was delivered to my lot in Ocean Shores, I kept asking for a guesstimate so I knew how long a lease I needed. No one ever even now would give me a ballpark date. Said home finally delivered 4/28/17 after sitting in the lot at Skyline home waiting for DeTrays to make moving arrangements. I am here today with a laundry list, some safety issues among them, I need a porch post wrapped to match the other 4, I need a carbon monoxide detector to be safe & legal, I need 1/2 of my home hooked up to the furnace & a section of flashing is missing from the peak where the 2 halves fit together. I have given up trying to talk to anyone at DeTrays - they tell you they will call you back & never do. They committed me to $445 for a crawler after the mortgage had been closed & then $223 in "additional sales tax for increase on 4/1/17" which should not apply to my home delivered to Gray's Harbor County. If you want a Skyline Home go to the factory & cut out this BS in the middle!!!!! The worst example of "customer service" I have ever encountered!!! They get their money & forget about ya & do everything in their power to dodge you. Only have one star because I am not allowed by the system to give ZERO. Just filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Consumer Protection!!! read more

We are customers and are still waiting for our house. We ordered our house in April but as of the end of September, we are still not able to move in yet. At this rate we could have had a stick built home. Diane DeTray is wonderful to work with, however her husband, Dana seems only interested in your money. They are poor at communicating and leave you hanging way too much. The products (homes) are built very well but the Detrays are only the dealership, like when you buy a car. The houses are built by Kit or some other builder, and they are built in another state. I gave them two stars because of how well the homes they offer are built and how huge Diane was in the design. They also allow quite a bit of customization. But you need to be persistent and keep on them. We were originally told the house would be ready in 6-8 weeks. 6 months is quite a bit longer than that. We finally moved in after 7 months from the day we ordered the house but they never returned to fix cracks in the walls from transporting the house. My final review is that their customer service is one star worthy. read more

I John Antonelli has been in the Auto Business for over 25 years and I have seen and herd a lot of bad business practise but notting as bad as the one that i just been in. I came to Detray's on March 10, 2017 to purchas a home from Marlene LeMoine. This women was the most nicest women to deal with. We agreed to a price and i left a $500.00 refundabe deposit. I came back to see them on March 17, 2017 to make more adjustments to my new home. Marlene gave me some business cards to contact a License Contractor to set my new home up.At that time I gave them my bid from Mike's Set up to set up my home for $45,990.00. On March 20, 2017 a person came to my Dealership at Sunset cars of Auburn named Peter to look at a 2006 Honda Odyssey to test drive. He left his business card to call me because I was off work. On Tuseday I called DeTray's to talk to Jonathan there finance manager about my loan. He tod me at that time that they dont to do business with me because they don't use Mike's set up. They only use Indigo Interprise and his name happened to be Peter. This is the same peter that came into my business the day before to look at a van. Talking to my sales perosn Fernando. He was there to contact me. So I got the bid from Peter (Indigo Enterprises) His bid was $50,134.58. I called the owner on Saturday April 1, 2017 Dana DeTray. He told me he would look into this. I did not back so I called him back the same day and he told me that they only use Peter (Indigo Enterprises) to set up my home. So far I put down $2500.00 at the River estates In auburn where my home is going. I also put down $500.00 at DeTray's for my home. Also I sold my new house and all parties new this and i need to be out of my house on may 4, 2016. So I called the bank that is financing this 21ST Mortage and lisa williams told me I can use any Licensed Contractor I want. Dana Detray and his finance manage told me they wont sell me the home unless I used Indigo Enterprises wich is $5000.00 more money. I call the River Estates and they told me that they are going to file a complaint to there coorperat office of this shady business going on. I called Lisa Williams at 21ST Mortage and she told me that there company is no long doing business with Detray's for un lawfull business practises and also for charging customers points on a loan. Detray's wanted me to pay fee for financing becuase of credit wich is very illegale in the state Of Washington.Jonathan the finance manage called me on April 7, 2017 and told me that they are no longer useing 21ST Mortage because of there business practise. 21ST Mortage called me before he did. She also has all the documation showing the higher bid on the contactor and the points I was being charged. I'm now talking to there cooperate office to look at other fraudulant points that they charged on previous customers. So now I'm out $500.00 and $2500.00 for the deposit at The River Estates. The emotional stress has been very dificult So I'm asking detray's to pay me my $500.00 Deposit and the $2500.00 deposit that I have at The River Estates and also $2000.00 for the inconvience to find another home and all the wrong doings they have done. I have everything that states in this letter to prove in the shadow of a doubt that all this information is true and correct. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. This company is awful. My 85 year old grandma's house was delivered in February and still is not ready for her to move in. Birds started nesting and walls started molding because it sat for so long. They put in writting that the home would be done but another month has gone by. Owner is super disrespectful and takes no ownership in what is happening. He just says he hires people for that over and over. They were able to put up all the homes for the home show in a couple days but cant get someone to finish this house. They are waiting for a part that is in Oregon but wont go get it. we have to wait for something else to be delivered. So they haven't had something delivered in months, hard to believe. Or maybe it isnt hard to believe after reading these reviews. We will be going to the BBB, attorney general and writing to Get Jessie. Not sure how these people stay in business. read more
