Been wanting to try this place for many years and had time to go finally. I didn't hate no love it. It was more mid for me. I did enjoy the smoothie with boba. I miss have smoothies/boba drinks made this way. I did like the huge menu because there are so many choices of options. I did like the scallion lobster although it was messy to eat. The flavor reminded me that that canned chop suey I ate as a child. I felt their prices were kind of high for the area. Just my personal option. I wasn't a huge fan of the pho broth, but I didn't hate it either. I'm indifferent bout it. But my noodles were very clumped together and hard to break apart to eat them in the soup. I would have preferred more white onion and not more green in the soup. The meat choice (brisket sliced beef) was ok. The price for the bowl was reasonable. The crab pho was not worth the price. Got the pork vermicelli bowl, beef pho, pork pho. It was a cold busy Saturday evening. I didn't enjoy it on several fronts: 1. When you see a menu on every page stating " no returns or exchanges" it gives a bad taste for the quality of the restaurant. 2. When you see 3% on all credit card transactions which is waived with cash, you know they are about saving every penny. But it gives off a bad vibe when you see a receipt with two prices l. 3. Quantity of food abysmal. Look at the pros we ordered: content lacking. Pho was soup mostly. Vermicelli had pork and shrimp and pork spam. Flavor was ok. 4. they put MSG. This is one of the best pho places we have found since moving from California. We took my entire family, sister, brother-in-law, father, and mother, including our twin girls out to eat on a Saturday night. We were eating a bit early around 5 PM and we were happy to be seated within five minutes. The place was fabulously decorated and had a lot of wonderful mesmerizing decorations for our babies to stare at on the ceiling. Our waitress was very fast and efficient and got all of our orders taken and delivered promptly. She was helpful and recommending the correct size of noodles and even helped. Make sure our girls had the best seating situation since we still had to have them in their car seats. The food was amazing and I can't wait to try all of the other things that looks so delicious on this menu I ordered pho Tai my favorite dish and it did not disappoint. And every time we're here, the service is friendly, food arrives quickly, and we can normally leave within an hour to continue our visit to Detroit area. The menu is extensive, and I wish I live closer to try out more items! The seafood crispy noodle is definitely one of my favorites and we get that every time we come. We tried the grilled pork roll today which we agree quickly that this will be a staple in future visit as well! The grilled blood clams are very good. The grilled oysters aren't as delicious, but that might be because I prefer raw oysters aren't over grilled ones. We didn't care for the clams in hotpot, as it tasted as if "broth" was just hot water with clams and lemongrass smell. I ordered the oysters to start which came out on a sizzling plate and were absolutely delicious. The pho was great, the star of the show is really the broth which is ADDICTIVE. The restaurant is very spacious and there are plenty of chicken, seafood and noodle dishes if pho isn't for you. I loved all the decor, it was fun and very on theme. My few gripes were that I called before arriving just to ask an approximate wait time and was told there was no way they could let me know about the wait time, I would just have to come in. She wouldn't even let me know if they were busy or not. The waiter did take a while to get to us but was nice enough to apologize when he finally got there. I've been wanting to come here for a while because I've heard such great things about it and let me tell you...it did NOT disappoint! Holy moly! Abundance of food and everything we ate was SO delicious! I couldn't be more pleased and can't wait to come back with all kinds of friends who are sure to love it! When my friend and I came here, we had completely forgotten that it was Valentine's Day, so it was definitely more busy than usual. But we still showed up at 6:30 and were seated right away, which I love. AND the staff were so apologetic every time they stopped by to bring us food or check in on us throughout the whole meal, explaining how busy they were, meanwhile from our perspective, they were checking in very regularly and the service was SO fast! That must mean that their "regular" service is even quicker and thorough, which is genuinely impressive! Because this place is called Detroit Pho & Crab, we knew we had to get BOTH pho and seafood bag, which had to include crab in it! It was just two of us, so we sprung for the medium sized bowl of pho dac biet (P5), which we substituted the meatballs for extra tripe, and we built our own seafood bag with 3 types of seafood - 1lb crawfish, 1 lb snow crab legs, and 1 lb green mussels (we had originally wanted the blue mussels, since they seemed smaller because you got more per pound, but our server said those were long gone, so we pivoted, but if you really want blue mussels - we weren't sure of the difference other than size - then you'll definitely want to come earlier, like around lunchtime, or on a less busy day for early dinner)! ALL OF THIS FOOD was more than enough for the two of us to share and literally everything was SO good. I would highly recommend all of it. The pho was delicious, the broth - SO good, the noodles - SO good, my only thing about it was that I wish it had arrived HOTTER so that when you put the veggies in to cook, it could've cooked it a bit more. I didn't even have to wait to eat because the broth was already at the perfect temp where you didn't even need to blow on it before putting it into your mouth, so that left the veggies we put it right when the pho arrived a bit on the "too raw" side of my personal preference. For the seasoning for the seafood bag, we went with the DPC style, which is cajun garlic butter, and that was truly the perfect seasoning for the seafood. I didn't feel the need for any acidity in it, which the lemon garlic butter or cajun lemon garlic butter would have provided, so I would say that every time I come back I will be ordering the DPC seasoning style again and again. Overall, unless you come with a massive party, but even then, I would highly recommend building your own seafood in a bag rather than going with one of their special combos that they have already created. Those are definitely for larger parties, but given that everyone has preference too, it's just easier to build your own and make sure you maximize the amount of seafood you order vs. what I find are unnecessary, stomach-filling sides that the combos include a lot more of than what I'd prefer. Hope you come here with friends and family to try it out because man alive was everything SO good! I am already planning the next time I can come here and going to try and bring more people so we can try more seafood goodies and other items on the menu!! read more
