This was such a fun experience from start to finish! As soon as we sat down, they brought us delicious rice cakes, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered the garlic dumplings, and they came covered in an amazing sauce. The bulgolgi was some of the best I've ever had, and the buldak was incredible too. The staff was super nice and friendly, helped us navigate the menu, and made the whole experience even better. The portions were very generous, easy to share, and packed with flavor. Worth the drive and the wait. Wow! This place is amazing. From the unique decor -- see pictures -- to the super tasty Korean food, this is a fun, hole-in-the-wall spot that I highly recommend. Don't expect to get seated right away. You scan a code to get on the list. It was 30-40 min wait in the 5 o'clock hour on Labor Day weekend, and when we left at 7-ish, it was 90 minutes. So come prepared to walk around Clawson while you wait for a table. That said, when we sat down, they brought out these delicious rice like cylinders in a sauce: it's called Tteokbokki. We ordered two things to share. The clear noodle dish with chicken (Japchae) and the beef bulgogi. Both were incredible. So full of flavor. I did wish the bulgogi was available in less than the one pound serving. But I'm happy to have the leftovers. I was very happy with the experience and 100% plan to come back. Walking into Noori Pocha was almost like being transported to South Korea! They played a video of someone walking the streets of SK on the projector and had a ton of cool Korean themed art on the walls including graffiti from all their patrons. Matt was an incredibly friendly server who got us what we needed quickly and always had a smile on his face. We visited the restaurant on a Tuesday and waited about 25 mins for a table. Once we ordered, the food came pretty quickly. The food was incredible! The plates are made to be shared, which is the best way to do it so you can try some of everything. Our table enjoyed kimchi fried rice, corn cheese, magic fries, beef bulgogi, and the soy garlic dumplings. Everything was extremely flavorful, a little salty but that was expected. The bulgogi came with lettuce wraps and white rice. Everything was served hot, crispy and DELICIOUS! This place is definitely something to experience. The gastropub doesn't open until 5pm for dinner so that's a bummer but there is a small restaurant side that you can eat in at! This is my favorite bathroom at a public place EVER!! In the women's restroom the lighting is so cool. I can imagine that's what the inside of the gastropub looks like and I hope to see it soon! There were pads and a light mirror and it was spotless. Quite possibly the best service I have experienced at a restaurant all year. The tables do have a button to call for service, but the servers literally arrive within 5 seconds of calling. On top of it, everyone is so nice and friendly. These dishes are meant to be shareable - everything is a serving size for 2+ in my opinion. Four of us shared three dishes and almost finished everything, so I would use that as a guide when ordering. Amazing Korean Gastropub that was featured as one of The NY Times 50 Favorite Restaurants in 2024. Their noodle salad dish is incredible, as is their chicken gizzard plate. K-Pop videos play in the background, and miniature dolls from Squid Game adorn the shelves while banner length ads with Korean girls hawking soju are hung up. Exceptional service and the server also asked for feedback on the noodle salad and I told him it reminded me of nyeongmyun (chilled noodles) and how they should serve it. Let's start with this place is very quant and gets very busy so get there early to stand in line or check in. There's only about 11 tables there. The good thing is Clawson has lots of things going on in the area so you can hang out at one of the local spots. The service was amazing and very fast. They were friendly and patient with us while ordering. They were well dressed and clean. The restaurant was also very clean. The food was 10/10 and I would definitely eat there again. The chicken was delicious. But the fried rice and dumplings *chefs kiss* will keep me going back. You can also do carry out if you don't want to wait to sit down. Next time I'll try carry out which I think will still be good. Also the prices are very good. I got fried rice, chicken and dumplings for under 45$. Noori Pocha was a good spot to hit up Sunday night before the start of another work week. A few friends and I stopped by a couple Sundays ago for a good time. We ordered a good amount of food and alcohol, which ended up being about 40 per person after tax and tip. 1 LB BOOLDAK (SPICY CHICKEN W CHEESE) - 24.99 +3.99 for 4 jumeok-bap I think we got medium spicy, which wasn't too bad! The chicken was nicely cooked and marinated and there was so much cheese. Getting the rice balls on the side was definitely worth it, so I'd recommend. The portion size is pretty fair for the price. JOKBAL (BRAISED PORK HOCKS) 34.99 Good with a variety of sauces and garnish on the side. It looks bigger than it really is, but the meat is topped on a bunch of bones, This was delicious and went well with the romaine lettuce it comes with. I would recommend eating it with some rice, too. CORN CHEESE - 6.99 Not worth it. The cheese broke immediately upon pulling and the flavor was underwhelming. I would not get this again. SAPPORO BEER (SOMEK) TOWER - 29.99 Beer isn't my thing but it was smooth enough that I was able to drink 2.5 cups during the evening. A couple of my friends loved it and had at least 3-4 cups. Not too strong, either. JINRO IS BACK - 13.49 It hurts that they sell each bottle for that amount here when you can get it at H Mart for much cheaper. Still, a good time. The ambiance is so lively and exciting here! We loved the lights indoors and the seating. You can open your stool and place your belongings in there as well. I love that they give you tteokbokki on the house when seated- it was very delicious! We ordered the corn cheese, jokbal, magic sprinkle boneless wings, and soy garlic boneless wings. Magic Fries (5/5): The fries were solid themselves (fairly crispy outside and soft inside), but the magic seasoning brought it to another level. It tasted a little like a sweeter version of the white cheddar popcorn seasoning and I thought it worked incredibly well with the fries. Usually I like to dip fries in some kind of sauce, but this didn't need it at all. Sweet+Spicy Wings (3/5): Good flavor with just the right amount of heat, but the exterior was pretty soggy and had very little crunchiness. The meat was also just ok. A little stringy and wetter than I like. Soy Garlic Wings (3/5): Not as sweet as other soy garlic wings I've had. Comes with lettuce and rice and rice balls too! Our part of 3 could barely finish it. I don't drink but I imagine it would pair nicely with alcohol. Nice side dishes including spicy sauce (gochujang?), egg, kimchi. Seafood pancake. So good. But lots of oil b/c fried. After all it is a pub/gastrobar. It wasn't overwhelmingly oily though and had good crunch. Mussels soup: Not good. Mussels rubbery. Soup nothing but a little pepper. Everyone else reviewed this and liked it, it seems but I didn't. Next time Id prly get the Sundubu-jjigae. Environment: Honestly I've not seen anything quite like it. Walls are decorated by customers drawings. This was perfect for my kid who was entertained with a sharpie and endless sharpie-circles on the wall. Nice "pub" feel to it. I liked the shiny tables. It doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It caters to the young generation who are looking to have fun. Know that music can be a bit loud, which is not unexpected but a little too much for me. Service: Great. Fast. You won't find a place like this in metro Detroit! The vibe is super Instagrammable lol. Get there early, even 10 minutes before open, to snag a spot. Upon arrival, you'll input your name/number into their touchpad to secure your spot in line. You can mill around Clawson if there's a wait, as you'll get a text when your table is ready. I appreciate the seats with the cubby to store your jacket, purse etc. You'll need to since there's no backs to the seats. Smaller space, but that's the charm. We went to the gastropub / eat-in side. My son and I ordered bulgogi, chicken gizzards, soy dumplings, and seafood tofu soup. We loved the bulgogi and soy dumplings. We thought the seafood soup was flavorless and dull. The chicken gizzards were chewy and hard to eat. They tasted of chicken, but were unpleasant to try to chew. We loved the atmosphere. The waitress was super helpful in picking our dishes - we just didn't like 2 of the much. First time here. Just did a lunch takeout. Box of wings and some potstickers. Deeeeelicious! Was a little interested in the price, but it turns out that these are some seriously meaty wings. Two of us split a box of 8 and it was plenty! Note that it takes an honest 15 to 20 min to cook your order. But everything came out perfectly cooked and when they said it would. Worth the wait, or order ahead online. My prediction is that this place will become THE late night food spot for Clawson. Inside seating area, 5pm or later, looks really cool, too. Firstly the ambiance in here is fun and eclectic, with authentic knick knacks and posters from South Korea I believe. They have a QR code when you enter to be added to their waitlist and seem to follow having tables sit for a max of 90 min I think to keep things moving. When we came in on a Tuesday evening it was pretty busy but we had a cocktail around the corner and came back within 30 min of waiting. The service in here is great, there is a bell to ask for your waiter on your table and each chair (no backs so watch out if you have any back issues) is like an ottoman so you can put your stuff inside it which is clever and space saving! When we sat down they brought over some sort of complimentary cold noodle in tomato ? Type sauce that was really tasty! Then we ordered a few things - the japchae was amazing as was the rice and the magic fries and the bulgogi! Korean cuisine isn't my favorite but the flavors here were so on point and tasty that I would definitely love to come back here as it's a total vibe! Even the drinks we got were tasty too! my favorite meal of 2024!!! I was blown away by this restaurant & can understand why this was the only Michigan restaurant on the NYT best restaurants of 2024 list. Waited around 70-90 mins for a table on a Friday night, but was prepared to wait! The checkin process with the QR code was super easy. We just went to a nearby bar for a few drinks while we waited for our table. There was a service button on the table & food was served super quickly after ordering. Loved the atmosphere and have never experienced anything else like it in Michigan. My personal favs were the bulgogi, corn cheese & beer tower (duh!!).
