DH11. Garlic Sauce Shrimp
Karol C.

Was in the mood for dumplings, so I stopped by Super Crab for fried dumplings and garlic sauce shrimp. Both were really good. I will be back as an occasional customer when I am out that way. The shrimp were served with a variety of veggies on fried rice. The rice was fluffy and light instead hard like many other fried rice dishes I've had from other restaurants. The sauce was saucing. It was complex, sweet, savory, and a little spicy. The shrimp were plump and fresh. Price was on point. My order was prepared quickly. Service was efficient. The carryout restaurant is located in a tiny strip on 13 Mile west of the hospital campus.

PSA; Do not order the almond boneless chicken unless you want chicken tenders and gravy.

Old sea food boil

I ordered the sea food boil and it's was awful, the eggs were old and rubbery, the snow crab has a funny (old) taste to it and the corn on the cob was so old the color of the corn changed! I received my money back from door dash . So I thought I would call and tell them my complaint and the rude lady states they haven't had any complaints and hung up on me! How rude. I will never eat here again and my family and friends will never and it's going to the trash

Another super crab. Seems like there is one in almost every city by now. Seafood boil sounded good for a change of pace from Thai, blue Nile was yesterday or sushi too. It was hard to tell from the outside for us on whether it was even open at all. It was open. We saw an open sign and folks going in. Bummer though. It's a tiny tiny space and it's carry out only. :( A bit run down outside as well.

This spot is more of a take out place, there is 2 table for sit down. We came here thinking it was a bigger space, but was able to sit down & eat & that was nice. The pricing is also reasonable maybe even cheap for the amount. We also didn't get king crab, so might have kept the price low. Seafood boil & Chinese food is what this place offers. We opt for the seafood boil with dumplings & wonton soup. Both apps were delicious. We got the Cajun for the boil with a mix of seafood. The seafood was good, didn't taste old/stinky like other places. The flavoring is good for the sauce. I think if left marinating a bit, it would be better. I'm just nitpicking here, but I think if seafood boiled or steamed with old bay or salt or flavoring, it would make it better. The seafood taste plain without dipping in the sauce otherwise.

Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, do yourself a favor and get take out from here. You can order from the website and pay when you pick up. The place is take out only. This place used to be a Chinese-food take out (which has the best american chinese food in my opinion). I don't know if the owner is the same and they just rebrand the restaurant but even though I was sad to see the last place go, I'm very happy Super Crab delivers. Their menu consists of cajun-style boiled seafood, fried seafood (platters and po' boy) and Chinese take out. I have not tried the boiled seafood but you bet I will. The first dish I got was the special oyster plate which has 10 oysters and 10 shrimps, served with fries, hushpuppies, and potato salad. I was so excited when I open the box as the smell was so amazing and it did not disappoint. Very appealing visual. The crunchiness was music to my ear. The texture was perfect. It is good as it but it's also good with the red sauce on the side as the tanginess balances the grease. The potato salad also has a nice acidic kick that lightens the overall profile. I personally really like the oyster as the combination of a crunchy outer layer and soft creamy inner gives a nice contrasting texture. On another occasion I tried the Chinese--Mongolian beef with beef fried rice and general tso's chicken. The mongolian beef was delicious! It's a bit greasy I admit, but the flavor works really nicely. Generous amount of meat and it was very tender. The general tso's was not bad but I have to admit the old general tso's (from the previous place) was better. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the food. Staff is really nice too and they finish your order very quickly. I highly recommend this place whenever you're searching for a quick, tasty, comforting take out meal

So good, cheap, quick, and convenient we got it twice in a row! Ready in ten minutes. I am a dietitian and wanted a healthier option so I got Szechuan chicken with sauces in the side. Combos come with rice and an egg roll. $22 all of this

I'll be ordering take-out from her every week! I'm addicted and unashamed lol. The hostess is super friendly and helpful. My mom went to this place after a raving recommendation from our friends. And babbby! Let me tell you. It was BOMB. The chicken was just the right amount crisp, and the sauce was better than any Americanized Chinese dishes. They definitely bought the Mainland flavor to their dishes and I'm in love ^_^

Yuck!

The love for 2 platter was really tasty (Cajun). And the portion was sizable. Expensive but worth the splurge. I just wish they had dine in

Jeff as our server was a delight! He took good care of us. We stuck around long enough that we hated to see him moving on to the room for a party celebration. We even tried to order a second meal but they had to make way for reservations! We will be back! Our food was soooo good! I had the B-Fast Sandy and one pancake. My bestie had the shrimp & grits plus three different flapjacks! The pancakes/flap jacks are huge. It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.

It's upscale yet relaxed, making it feel like a hidden treasure in the heart of the city. For my entree, I chose the Pepper Crusted Filet Mignon with Lobster Tail, and it was sheer perfection! The filet was incredibly tender, with a bold pepper crust and rich port wine mushroom demi-glace, served alongside Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The added lobster tail was succulent and buttery, creating an indulgent surf-and-turf combination that highlighted the freshness and quality of their ingredients. My partner opted for the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes as her main dish, and they were outstanding, packed with sweet, lump crab meat, lightly breaded for a crispy exterior, and served with house-made tartar sauce and fresh sides. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying, without any unnecessary fillers. The service truly made the evening special; our waitress Chris was amazing! She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. Her warm personality and efficiency made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout. While prices are on the premium side, the exceptional quality, portions, and overall experience make it well worth it. If you're in Birmingham craving fresh, creative seafood, Streetside Seafood is the place to go. We'll be returning soon!

There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. Bill was pricey but it was a special occasion and I would definitely return for another.

We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.
