Detroit Pizza had a pre/opening a few weeks ago and we have already tried them twice. Their official opening is tomorrow. Mind you, this is a take out location only. There are no places inside to sit and eat. Service is friendly and very helpful. If you're from the east coast, their Detroit original will remind you of a New York Sicilian pizza. We found it to be great.
Let's be honest... There is lots of great pizza out there, there's also plenty of not so great pizza out there. You can find skimpy pizza, stacked pizza, califrnia pizza, pizza from the great state of Chicago, dollar slices in Manhattan, thin pizza, pizza with goat cheese and duck sausage, round pizza and now square. The Hot new trend is Detroit pizza, at least here in California it's a hot new trend. Crisp airy and packed with flavor, a sauce so thick and savory you want a cup and a spoon of the stuff, and the cheese well let's just say cheese in all the right places. Especially the corners. Joe's Detroit pizza was possibly one of the best things I have eaten this year, it's massively cravable, the shop is in excellent order counter service was terrific. Although Joe is suspiciously thin for being open a few weeks already he gets a pass and is perched high atop the best pizza makers in the country. Don't wait, don't be weird about its shape and style, it's just pizza, but it's pizza at its best.

We decided to give it a try, and it did not disappoint. To save time, we called in our order. The staff was very kind over the phone and answered all of our questions without hesitation. When we arrived for pickup, we were greeted right away. We did have to wait about 15 extra minutes, but it was completely understandable since they were busy and several others were waiting as well. Despite that, the staff stayed attentive and worked as quickly as possible to get everyone taken care of. I believe the owners were there, and they were extremely kind making a point to acknowledge each customer and personally thank them when their order was ready. For a new restaurant still getting established, they handled everything really well. Our pizza, breadsticks, and salad were fresh and delicious. I especially appreciated that they acknowledged and thanked us for waiting it really makes a difference. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend giving them a try!

I recently ordered from Detroit Pizza Co and honestly, it exceeded expectations across the board. The pizzas were packed with flavor and clearly made with quality ingredients. The Veggie Overdrive was fresh and perfectly balanced, while the Buffalo Blaze had just the right kick without overpowering the rest of the flavors. What really stood out was the crust- crispy on the outside, soft and airy inside, exactly what you want from a Detroit-style pizza. Even the custom build-your-own pizza turned out amazing, with generous toppings and great texture in every bite. Everything was prepared well, the order was accurate, and the food held up great for takeout. You can tell they care about consistency and quality. Definitely a go-to spot if you're craving something hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. Francia service was amazing and she went above and beyond and I love there text system to inform you about the order being ready. Love the space and the open kitchen and the cleanness.
The food for starters needs massive improvement. I was there on their "GRAND OPENING" and I ordered a single cheese slice and what I got should've been called a slice of sauce pizza on cardboard. They totally went overboard on the sauce and there was hardly any cheese on it. The pizza was dry . I have NEVER seen the final topping of a slice of pizza be sauce, but it definitely was on this slice AND the crust was burnt! It was gross!!! I lived in the Midwest as well as New York City and thought for sure when I saw the name "DETROIT PIZZA CO" it was going to be amazing. I WAS SO WRONG!! I DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE EVER AGAIN. The size of their entrance is ridiculously small. It's very cramped in there. They should've made their waiting area a lot larger when they were designing the store. There was a lady struggling with a walker to come in and out, and not one employee offered to hold the door open for her, instead they stood there by the register watching her struggle to get out of the store. IF THIS PLACE WAS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE, THEN THE LADY WITH THE WALKER SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD A HARD TIME TRYING TO LEAVE THE STORE!!. That definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. The service was ok, nothing to write home to mom about. Seems like the younger staff were more interested in interacting with their school friends that came in, than taking care of their customers. Yeah, the first day they're all smiles, but days later, weeks later they don't even acknowledge that you're even in the vicinity of their store. Is it too hard to say hello? They had no idea whether I was going to go in there or not, so not even a hello not a SMILE not holding the door open for me....HELLLLO??? CUSTOMER SERVICE needs tuning up maybe these kids don't realize that if it wasn't for the customer, they wouldn't have a paycheck Prices are totally insanely expensive!! If you want to try a DELICIOUS pizza, Costco Food Court has the best pizza in town. The prices are reasonable AND their portions are generous and they are quick AND they have ample seating!!! Target also has excellent mouth watering pizza right in front of their self checkout!! Here is a picture of what I received compared to what I asked for!! I'm only giving it one star because I have to give it something to add my review.
New pizza spot in Murrieta just dropped and wow, I'm still thinking about the pizza!!! We grabbed two Detroit-style deep dish rectangles (Buffalo Blaze and Veggie Overdrive), and that buttery crust was straight-up dangerous. Like, "accidentally eat half the box" dangerous!!! Everything was delish, family-approved, no crumbs left behind... except in my wallet. My only gripe is the price. $60 for 2 10x14 pizzas is a bit pricey.
Food was pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of Detroit style but it's what my family wanted to try. Good proportions of toppings. Their sauce seems to be on the sweeter side, and prices are similar to other smaller pizza joints in the area. I'd definitely eat here again but I'm hoping we try a different style next time.

In all honesty, I am quite picky with my pizza, as I have had all types, in different cities and still compare them to my childhood pizzeria. Nothing, so far, will compare. With that said, I was unimpressed for the money I spent but specifically on the wings, when I was told they were the best. Worst wings, in my opinion, I've had. Ordered a "10x14" when it's actually a 9x13, in a 10x14 box. It tastes just like any other pan style pizza, except greasier/oilier. Extremely overpriced ($30) and underwhelming. Will not order again. read more

Having gone to school in Michigan (MSU), I've had Detroit style pizza before. So once I found out Detroit Pizza was opening up in the area, I couldn't wait to try it. Called in an order for an 8x10 pizza (4-ends) with garlic crust, Wisconsin cheddar cheese, pizza sauce, Italian Sausage, bacon, banana peppers and pineapple. Winner, winner Detroit pizza dinner! After waiting for a year, they finally opened and we got a pizza for dinner! The BF is from Detroit and been waiting for a pizza place that specializes in Detroit pizza in the Murriet/Temecula area. I've never had it...just pan type pizza. The bonus part is they also offer the popular pop from Detroit...Faygo! Awesome customer service from Patricia D.; greeted us when we walked in, talked about their menu, and Faygo pops...they are trying to get root beer in stock. We also got to meet and chat with one of the owners who was taking care of the pizzas, breadsticks, etc coming out of the oven. Loved the food and pop! Was worried I wouldn't like the sauce on the top but it made the pizza taste great. Looking forward to going back and trying more items on their menu...and take advantage of their "Quick Bite Pizza By The Slice" deal! Absolutely incredible deep-dish pizza! The dough was soft, light, and perfectly baked -- not heavy at all like some deep-dish pizzas can be. The sauce was out of this world, rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Every topping tasted fresh, from the crisp veggies to the perfectly cooked pepperoni with just the right crunch. You can really tell they use quality ingredients and put care into every pizza. Easily one of the best pizzas I've had! read more

Big NO! ive never had a pizza smell so bad when just opening the box, not only did i waste $50.00 buying this pizza but i definetly wasted my time. i tried calling for a refund on the pizza i wont be eating and Joe the manager brushed off my comment about the foul oder, i do not believe he even cared about what i had to say his "solution" was to give me "credit".... not even a sorry or anything he was instead questioning me. Stopped in today for my first order. This place is CLEAN. I was greeted by 3 different employees all with smiles. We are from Michigan born and raised. My 3 kids, tore up the pizza. We got 3 pizzas, cheese, pepperoni, and the 8 mile. All delicious but the 8 mile was my absolute favorite. Toppings are very generous. This is quality pizza, you can tell they take pride in their work. Faygo sodas and a Detroit Pizza Co slice could not be more representative of the D. Saw this place in this little mail flyer that came to my house and decided to give it a try. Omg! The pizza and sooo good, with crispy edges and soft middle. We got the double roni 8x10 and it was 4 slices which was perfect for my husband and I. We also got the 8 wings buffalo flavor. The wings were huge!! Not like your normal pizza places with small little wings. The blue cheese was delicious also! A little pricey around $40 total but definitely delicious. The staff was so nice and friendly, the lady working the register even complimented my nails and my perfume. Would definitely come back! read more

I got a great pizza today. It was on par with Apollonia's square slices and even quarter sheets. I was in the area and said why not? The service was really helpful and courteous. All the team made sure all my questions were answered. And the inside is really nice. I like how you can see all the workers making the pies through the glass. The pizza was superb. The dough had a great tangy taste, which is always good quality. The sauce was really tasty. The crispy cheese at the edges was phenomenal. The pepperonis were cupped and charred beautifully. More than Solid pizza, I give it an 8.7 on a portnoy scale. Fantastic. Will come again. Thank you guys. read more

Pizza looks good but is definitely not the greatest. The only good part was the crispy edges. Got the mile high heat. Dough was not cooked all the way through. Barely any cheese. Sausage tasted gamey. Chicken wings were rubbery and had soggy skin. Cookie was loaded with a chocolate sauce that tasted like chemicals. For the price I will not be back. read more

5 stars for Detroit Pizza Co.! My friend Fat Chris and I had been eyeballing this place for a while, and now that it's finally open, we decided to check it out after bowling--and I'm glad we did. First off, don't let "Detroit" in the name fool you--this place is clean, dialed in, and top tier all the way. We ordered a classic pepperoni deep dish, and it's easily some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. You can tell right away this is real, quality food. The small cupped pepperonis were perfect, the cheese was rich, and the sauce wasn't just hidden under the cheese--it had that proper touch splashed across the top like a real Detroit-style pie should. But honestly, the star of the show was the dough and crust. They absolutely nailed it. The deep dish was cooked perfectly--not too soft, not doughy, just the right texture with a ton of flavor. And the edges? Nice and crispy without being burnt--straight up flavor bombs with every bite. This place lived up to the hype and then some. I'll 100% be back, no question about it. read more
