We were wanting something quicker but quality & this was the perfect spot -- order at a kiosk & they call your name/text you when it's ready. It's a smaller space, with some indoor bar seating & some covered outdoor tables. We ordered the classic burger, spicy chicken sandwich, and mozzarella sticks! The burger was good, but the aioli AND the delicious bun really did it for me. Spicy chicken sandwich will live rent free in my mind forever, I got back and eat it right now if I could. I'm a little torn on Deux Luxe. The food was truly delicious. There were a couple issues, though. The guy at the counter was a bit too forward and told me not to even bother trying anything but a couple things on the menu, which was odd. Also, the cost just is a bit too high, even if the food is great. It feels like a fast casual burger at $20 is a bit too steep to have again. All that said, if you haven't tried the food here, you should. Just be prepared for a very high price. read more

i was pretty excited to try out deux luxe especially given the recent acclamations and fanfare it's received (best burger in nyc?). i'm a big fan of a simple smash burger as well as wagyu, so the burgers here sound like the best of both worlds. what i loved: - mozzarella sticks!!!!!! would come back just for this. and the breading is gluten free! ugh! amazing. - sooo many sauce and aioli options! what i wish i loved more: - round cut fries weren't as crispy as i expected, but im also more of a shoestring girl so just a personal preference - while the classic burger was tasty, i would've preferred the meat to be cooked more. i saw other reviewers also mention that they would've liked a little bit of a char on their burger and i am obliged to agree. although it was wagyu, the texture was too mushy to be enjoyed as a burger. i think a pink middle is good for steaks, but burgers should be somewhat firm and retain its patty shape. - my friend ordered the limited truffle burger and it was just extremely salty! we were disappointed by this one unfortunately the vibe here is cool with a slightly retro aesthetic, with merch, stickers, and art available for purchase. not sure i'd come back often since it was a bit pricey for the portion, but all in all a decent meal. read more

I don't get the hype... -Big Deux - the presentation is nice, clean, well wrapped, I also hate my burger cut in half for me. The waygu beef patties had zero flavor whatsoever, it almost tasted like they were steamed or boiled, no sear/char, no salt, no pepper, nothing. The big deux relies heavily on the toppings and sauce. The sauce is good, there is no argument here, but it isn't enough to mask the lack of taste and flavor of the patties. -Fries - why does it cost $ for ketchup? -Place itself - too small for how busy it gets, two girls were eating at the counter where you order since all the window stools and one single table were occupied by eaters. I will not be back for either of these items, BUT, the mozz sticks looked VERY good from the other parties that had them. MAYBE i'd come back for them. We decided to try this place today. We ordered online (10%off) and I came at the pick up time to store. It's very small place with very limited seats (all been occupied). People At register been extremely friendly and helpful. My burgers been seating at the counter and been waiting for a fries. Will start with the good- I like packaging and that burgers been cuted for 2 pieces, that it's perfect for sharing. Original was very good and soft. Big Mac was great too. And I liked fries. Came for dinner during the week, The space is on the smaller side, they have some counter seating inside and some covered outdoor seating, but it can get cramped or hard to find a space. The restaurant itself is bright and clean and the service is very friendly. You order and pay on the screen and they bring your food to you. I went with a friend who is gluten free and we wanted to try as much as possible so we ordered the mozzarella sticks, small fries, the Classic Jr with a gluten free bun and the Big Deux Jr with a gluten free bun. The gluten free bun was a bit dry, but I am told that is to be expected with gluten free bread. The burgers though were tasty, I preferred the Classic (I think it had more flavor and was more moist). The mozzarella sticks were huge (4 per order) and very tasty, I would never have known they were gluten free. The fries were circles of not thin but not too thick fried potato which were tasty, but I would not call them fries. Overall a solid option for those with gluten allergy and if I went back I would get the Classic burger (two wagyu patties vs the one patty in the Classic Jr). I might be missing the hype here but I had high expectations given this is marketed as the best NYC burger on Time Out. Ordered their classic and the Nolita spicy vodka chicken mozzarella burger. Was disappointed with their classic - the wagyu patties had no flavor to me and I was questioning whether the patties were boiled or perhaps steamed? We added caramelized onions in it and honestly glad we did because that was all we tasted. The vodka chicken burger was certainly better - more flavorful, hint of spice and definitely a great cheese pull. I did leave the restaurant feeling unsatisfied. The service however was excellent. I was intrigued by the idea of a wagyu fast causal burger and popped in here on a Monday night. You can order at 1 of 2 kiosks or order with a really friendly staff member - super helpful in the difference and size of the burgers. I got the Deux Luxe Jr ($13) with a sesame bun and just 1 patty - it was plenty for me! Overall a clean good burger that wasn't too oily like so many smash burgers are these days. I personally couldn't really taste a major difference in the patty and the textures sort of combined together. Still tasty but I was hoping for more. This burger tasted like it was cooked in a janitor's closet using leftover mop water. Calling it "wagyu" should be a crime--no char, no seasoning, zero salt, just bland, gray disappointment. It was my first time at Deux Luxe, I really wanted to love it after so many people raved about it. The staff was super charismatic, welcoming and very helpful. Here's where I think I went wrong. Instead of trying their classic cheeseburger my first time there I ordered the Josh. The Josh came with 2 wagyu patties, patties, crispy hash brown and an egg ( and s side of fries). I also added on a coke frostie which was fantastic. The fries I could have skipped in entirely. They were bland and not crispy. The burger was juicy but just all around mid. There was nothing special or stand out about it. A little char on the burger or something to make it stand out would make a huge difference. Or maybe making the egg a bit runny. Deux Luxe is a perfectly cromulent burger spot in the neighborhood that is getting high praise from Time Out and other outlets. It is also likely why it was so disappointing to bring an excited party that ended up being let down by the experience. The staff was very nice and attentive, and even the lovely owner was checking on us at the end. The main gripe from burger lovers was the lack of flavor, which other Yelpers have also noted. The chicken sandwich did get a lot more praise. If DL can apply the feedback and work on their signature item, there is a lot of potential there despite the competition around the corner. read more

phenomenal, must try burger!!! i stumbled upon this spot while visiting nyc and got this month's special and it was out of this world. the wagyu beef patty was incredibly juicy and paired beautifully with the pillowy-soft bun. the burger also came with a dipping sauce and crunchy toppings, which you could coat onto the burger after dipping. the contrast between the soft burger and dipping sauce and crunchies was fantastic. on top of this, the sauce was bursting with flavor, and it made such an amazing finishing touch to the whole experience. this burger is the definition of melt in your mouth!!! you can just tell all the ingredients are high quality and thoughtfully curated. overall, i loved my experience: cutesy decor, kind service, and tasty, unique food. this will def be my new go to spot whenever im craving a good burger and im in town!!! cant wait to try more items from their creative menu that i havent seen anywhere else. totally eyeing the nolita spicy vodka chicken sandwhich read more

I've been gluten free for 17 years and this is hands down the best burger/sandwich restaurant I've ever had. The buns are light and fluffy and all the sauces are house made. You can tell they really care about the ingredients and quality. We talked to one of the owners and they have an amazing story about how the concept came to be, and we were so impressed with the service. Great atmosphere and overall vibes.
