Deviant Wolfe is in a really cool, hip area in old downtown Sanford. It looks like there might be a lot of history here. Cool set up inside with big picnic tables as well as some nice couches for seating. They also had a nice big bar area, which I like. It seems quite a few breweries are going to just a small walk up area. It was getting busy at just after 7:00 in a Friday evening and it looks like the kinda spot that could go off. I was out before that happened, hey I'm old it's getting close to my bedtime. Beers! I did two flights of four each. The funny part was a asked the server to just give me half pours since I wasn't planning to drink the extra and I hated to waste the beer. He said it was going to be wasted anyway. ‍ Any Way The Wind Blows was a very clean tasting lager. No off flavors, just a nice easy drinking beer. So Saison We All had a nice saison flavor it. A little fruity and very to style according to my taste. The Haze Annulment was hazy IPA as you would guess from the name. Great hop flavor and aroma without just a little bitterness. A little grapefruit flavor in there as well. Sour Not Sorry! I love s good sour beer. This one is a sour IPA, which is a bit of a rarity. This sour absolutely didn't work for me. It tasted like a tea or dirty sweat socks. Just no thank you... Monkeys Dunkel had a really nice malty aroma and the flavor to match. This was a very tasty dark wheat beer. Red Rye. Now I also love a rye ale, and SWPFTD loves a red ale. This one was outstanding! Not only did it have the nice rye spiciness to it, but it was balanced by the maltiness. Excellent beer here. Pineapple Troll Cake...Hmmm. Described as a sour ale with pineapple, coconut, lactose, and rum soaked oak chips. That's a lot going on. Surprisingly I didn't get much on the aroma just a mild sourness, the flavors actually came together well though I admit to not being able to pick out all of those individual flavors. I liked this one though. T-SMILF! I'm not sure what that means but I'm curious. Anyone? This is a strawberry milkshake IPA with tangerine zest. I actually could pick up the tangerine and the strawberry in the aroma though it could have been the power of suggestion. Damn! Definite strawberry on the tongue. I really liked this one. Deviant Wolfe, which I must admit drew me in because of the name, is solid. There were several other breweries in the immediate area but my flight got in late and I only had time to hit one. I made the right choice. I think I'll buy myself a t-shirt, but don't tell SWPFTD because she thinks I come home with too many shirts. Shhhh! Dropped into Deviant Wolfe Brewing on Saturday afternoon. Creative beer ideas, but inconsistent results. Quality: I love doing beer tastings, so I was very excited by the fact that Deviant Wolfe Brewing had two special pre-set ones. One was the February Flight of the Month, put together by a member of their team, which included St8 Off Tha Hopz, Pineapple Troll Cake, Bruiser J, Red Rye, and Nefarious Nebulas. The second was a Valentine's Day Chocolate Craft Beer Pairing, which came with Norwegian Wizard Crisis, Strawberry Dragon Fruit Seltzer, Pineapple Troll Cake, Matturdays, and I Ain't Afraid of No Roast, along with a piece of special chocolate with each. We also got pours of Sourmanjaro a coffee sour blonde ale, and King Cake Stout, an imperial stout, as full pours. In reflection, the descriptions of the beers all sounded better than the beers actually tasted. I think the bar was set too high, and more often than not it did not hit. While I did enjoy the King Cake Stout and Matturdays, the rest of the bunch left me wanting more. Especially Sourmanjaro, it is a concept I was all for, which failed to deliver. I do give a lot of credit for the chocolate pairing though, it was memorable, and they clearly put the time and effort into developing it and coming up with great candy choices. Quantity: Larger Flights, both in terms of number of beers and size of pours. Value: $20 for the Valentine's Day Chocolate Craft Beer Pairing. $6-$8 for Draft Beers. Ambiance: Deviant Wolfe Brewing is located along the main street in Sanford Florida. Inhabiting a storefront along this long line of similar looking buildings, nothing immediately stands out to suggest it is a brewery, we actually walked past the first entrance when looking for it. Outside they have a few high-top tables, but there was limited covering and it looked ready to rain. Inside they have an assortment of seating with three benches, a few couches, and bar seating both near the taps and along the window. A television was awkwardly placed high up, and there was also a large screen that looked ready for movie night. The music was heavy rock, which is not something I expected from the staff on duty. Crowd: Small crowd, especially compared to other nearby bars. Both dog and kid friendly, and plenty of both could be found on this day. Service: Extremely friendly staff. Surprised how many people were working on Saturday afternoon, but it just meant quicker service. Parking: Plenty of street parking on the nearby side streets. read more

Headed here later on a Friday night after stopping by a couple other breweries. Modern taproom with a sleep design and long wooden tables made for large groups. Before ordering a beer,had asked for some food which they don't serve. However, they did mention the place down the street delivers (whose food was really good). Once I got my food, settled on the "Infinite Zeros" ($7) - a full flavored biter with no hoppy aftertaste like other IPAs. Was pretty full after the food.beer combo, so couldn't try the other beers. Bartender here was informative and the place was pretty chill for a Friday night. Slightly more expensive than the other breweries here, but worth a stopover. read more

I love me my Sanford breweries. These folks at Deviant are always very pleasant and creative with the types of brews they think up. I love that they have an area for the kids to play in and an art wall for local artists to display their artwork. Each brewery in Sanford has its own unique flavor to it and this place is a definite go-to. read more

My husband and I ventured in on a Friday night and were actually able to get a seat at the bar. This was both good and bad. Good because we could check out everything that was happening at the bar and not have to hover over others sitting at the bar in order to get some drinks. The bad - everyone hovered over us, breathing down our necks in order to get a beer...and this was constant...the entire time. So, there is no open space for those not sitting at the bar to come up and place their order. Due to this, I will not sit at the bar here again, which sucks, because that is where I go always want to sit when I visit a brewery or bar. We went here because we were in town for an event at another bar and I saw that multiple people had checked into their sour beers on Untappd. Me being the sour beer lover that I am, decided we must go. We ordered a flight of 4 sour beers and they were all okay to good. I don't like IPA's, but their sour IPA was the best out of the bunch. There was a gentleman playing live music while we were there and we had to scream over him in order to hear the person next to us. Even the bartenders mentioned how loud he was to one another, yet no one working there had him lower the volume for the hour we were there. We opened a tab because I was in high hopes that we would stay for additional drinks, but as it took us 10 minutes to get the attention of the staff...as we sat at the bar right in front of them....we just closed out our tab and went for drinks elsewhere. Yes, they continually served people coming up to the bar behind us instead of us...sitting there with empty glasses. Once we finally got to tell a bartender to close us out, it took her another 5 minutes to figure out how to do it/where our card was. Hopefully over time they will realize they need an easy access area for people at tables/couches to order their beer. Hopefully they will gain additional staff members on busy nights. Hopefully they will monitor volume levels of their live music. Hopefully I will be back and able to update my review to higher than 2 stars because I love beer and I love breweries, but I love great service and a great atmosphere as well. read more

Awesome new brewery in downtown Sanford! The atmosphere is cool and is centered on sustainability which is a breath of fresh air. There's a mix of tables, bar seats, and comfy couches as well as outside seating. The service was great with knowledgeable bartenders and a selection of beers. We tried a flight of the beers brewed in house and loved each one. Favorite is the sourmanjaro, which is a sour with notes of coffee, but all the beers were really good and had unique flavors. Great beer selection! The only thing that was frustrating was one of the employees seemed annoyed with us wanting to get the stamp for our hops passport. We bought one beer and she asked what tab it was under and the name and we said we just wanted to pay cash as we already had closed out a tab and we didn't need the discount from the passport (you get a bogo deal when you visit with the passport). She again asked in an annoyed tone "I need the name for the tab for the discount" then she proceeded to lecture us on why she needed that info. 1. I told you we wanted to pay cash as we had closed out our tab with friends and we just wanted ONE beer. 2. Don't raise your voice at me and talk down to me like I'm incompetent. 3. I appreciated the fact that you wanted to educate us on the discount however we said it was fine and we just wanted to pay cash :) This review might seem a bit harsh, but take the time and be patient with customers! read more

So this brewery is new to me, actually I heard that it's new in general. Upon walking in, this brewery has a relaxed vibe to it. The picnic benches, the couches with super Nintendo for the TV's, the dim lighting, I'm all for it! This brewery is can definitely be the place to chill, however I noticed the inconsistency in their menus. A couple of beers weren't available and we didn't know until we requested them. Something else that was noticable was one of the bartenders getting flustered and getting a rhythm, because everyone wanted flights within my group, but she recovered by being accurate with the selections. I liked the options that were available, so therefore a flight was my best option. I'd like to come back and hang out for a bit the next time I'm in the area. Huzzah for yummy beers! Deviant Wolfe is a nice hangout in Sanford for friends and family. The bar itself has biergarten style seating with repurposed woodwork and a sort of rustic / camping aesthetic to boot. The building itself used to be a bank and they've even managed to repurpose the vault as an office. Lots of sustainable practices at work here and it's nice to see some environmental stewardship from a local business. Beer is obviously an important part of the equation, and rest assured it's a positive. Guest taps and in house beers are listed marquee style and the selection rotates as new additions are made. Try the Sourmanjaro if it's available - I would describe it as a lemon-y sort of biscuit? Intensely drinkable (especially for when it's hot) and definitely a good sour for those who maybe aren't too familiar with the variety of beer. Go here! read more

Great spot for some awesome local crafted beer. The ambiance is nice and casual with some games and stuff to mess around with. They do not have food but as others have said, you can order form local spots and they will bring it to you. They play music in the background and it is at the perfect volume. Very cute newer brewery to the downtown Sanford area. Great brews! And the inside is very cute with large bench like tables and then come areas with couches. So this is my update. I returned to give this place a second chance. This time it was much slower and the girl behind the bar was super friendly. Also they moved the movie theater sign and put up a more proper display for there beers and events. They also put out beer menus with descriptions! Glad they figured things out there. I think everyone is looking for that local bar, that makes your feel as if you have been there a hundred times. The beers are very creative and trendy. New beers go on tap regularly with a wide range of flavors, so there is bound to be something for everyone. The establishment itself is kid friendly, including wi-fi and seating. With the friendly staff serving refreshing beers on tap, and a flights in case you want to find that perfect brew for you.
