Cute store with all my needs for Italian cooking. Love that you carry La Florentine torrone which I buy every year for family Christmas presents per tradition. The pre made sandwiches are a great treat and we buy them often for road trips or tailgating. You also can't beat their lunch deal! I grew up in North Hill and I used to go here on my lunch when I was in high school. Since I can remember being a little girl, DeVitis has always been top notch food and service. My mother and sister still live in the neighborhood and frequently shops here. Sadly I moved away but I had the chance to shop here today and visit wonderful memories. Maybe I am spoiled by some really amazing Italian markets like Gallucci's in Cleveland, but I thought this one was just OK. They had a nice deli counter with the usual, and an OK selection of dry goods. The spice selection didn't seem anything special. They had a fair amount of prepared goods (like lasagna), but we didn't try them. But I didn't see a lot I couldn't just get at Giant Eagle. All the staff were extremely pleasant. read more

I was recommended this place for the sub sandwiches by my girlfriend (specifically the italiano but we'll get to that). Upon walking in you are greeted by a more unique experience than the typical grocery with a high emphasis on both great look prepared Italian food and old world specialties. I was unsure of where to find the sandwich but the ladies behind the deli counter were super helpful in pointing them out and walking me through all of their options. I went with the $8 italiano sub which had mortadella, capacollo, salami, proscuitto, Asiago cheese and peppers. Walking into Devitis the smells of fresh provolone, capicola, salame and much much more caused a sensory overload that sent my brain into overdrive. This wonderful local spot is a smaller market but that's A ok. Everything you need to host a full on delicious Italian dinner is right here at Devitis. Walking through the market I felt a real sense of community and that's very refreshing nowadays, the store is laid out to easily find what you need and if you can't there's someone there to answer any questions you may have. Located on Tallmadge Ave in North Hill Akron, Devitis is easily accessible from Rt8 and with over 50 years in the biz I'd say they're doing something right! I opted for the Divitis $5.50 Deal, it's a Angelo small Hoagie, a side and a drink, not a bad little deal and it hit the spot! So next time you're in North Hill give Devitis a visit! An absolutely superb store. I am addicted to their macaroni salad. It is delicious. Their coleslaws are amazing and especially the oil one. We are a couple of Pittsburgh types who went here off of a Yelp recommendation before a wrestling tournament over at North Akron HS. After his weigh-in, my son was a hungry guy. Divitis did not disappoint. He had the pepperoni roll and the lasagna roll; I had the tomatoes/fresh mozzarella salad. We also bought pizelles. It was great. Here's the thing---at 4 PM,after the tournament ended, we went back for more. Eggplant roll. Cappacola and provolone on a fresh bun. And some fresh pasta to take home.
