Price seemed in-line with other places, staff was particularly nice. People mentioned MAGA stuff (huge RED flag for me) and I DID see a Trump/Vance sticker (wtf?) but I also saw a Biden/Harris sticker. So if you are reading this Ms. Primo...how about: no stickers? I don't want to ruin my appetite thinking about Trump. That being said, the sandwich was the best sandwich I have eaten in Ohio. I will return and get some weird thing when I go back. 25 years of waiting and just disappointment. Nice warm day out, and me and my mom decided to go get something to eat for lunch. We hadn't been here before, but she has been waiting 25 years to come here. She has lived in Akron for all her life, and Kenmore for 10 of those. The bread was soggy, the ingredients were not quality whatsoever, it even looks like they cooked the sandwich with the lettuce on it. The pickles, the only thing free with this expensive meal, were soggy. We paid $41 for this meal for just utter disappointment. Not only that, but these are MAGA Trumpers, displayed everywhere, which is embarrassing in a town with such diversity as Kenmore has. A unique place, off the beaten path. We were visiting the area and looking for a good lunch option to take to the lake! Landing on Primos, we stopped on the way and ordered. There is no dine in option, so everything is take out. It is definitely a small family owned business, which is always a perk in my opinion! Real people making a real living. The sandwiches themselves were amazing! We tried a few different ones. High quality ingredients, great ratio of bread to fixings to condiments and the rye bread specifically was a stand out for me! So delicious. Homemade side dishes and desserts were also available. Or a simple bag of chips for just .50 as an alternate side option. They also have a cooler with a variety of unique brews available. The whole place is a bit of a spectacle with signs and memorabilia covering most of the inside. The bathroom itself is also an interesting site, with pictures of shirtless men, cats, and burgers seemingly cut out of tabloids and taped right to the walls. It's small and morgan wallens photo is staring at you while you pee, but it all added to the experience! read more

After a nearby weekend round of golf, we stopped here for a trunk lunch in the parking lot. Due to COVID-19 they are takeaway only and without a park to hop over to, we just opened up the minivan trunk and tailgated right there in their lot! My buddy and I decided to get two sandwiches (Hot Italian and a Reuben) so we could split and try them both. We also got a big bag of local area wavy chips (Hartville brand) and doing so they gave us a container of their famous bacon-flavored chip dip! I was also to try another area favorite (for the first time), a pure cane sugar soda called Norka. The hot Italian sub was excellent and only mildly spicy served pressed on a grilled bun along with onion, lettuce and tomato. The corned beef Reuben sandwich was great served atop a hearty grilled bread, lean corned beef and plenty of sauerkraut and Russian dressing. Chip dip was definitely flavored with bacon seasoning and we gobbled that up in no time using those crispy wavy chips. I had a cherry-strawberry Norka pop and it was very refreshing and not overly sweet...went great with our sandwiches! Will most certainly add this to my foodie list for future golf rounds when we need to spot for a quick bite. Well done, team! read more

I've actually wanted to stop here for a few years. I even tried at least twice, but but both times I can recall being unlucky and it ended up being a Sunday or Monday and I was greeted with their "closed on Sundays & Mondays" sign. But anyways, I happened to stop here recently, and it was a Tuesday, thankfully. So I was able to try the Turkey Reuben with Cole Slaw and Swiss on Grilled Rye Bread. The prices do seem just slightly higher than I would have expected. But I have to say, this was seriously the best sandwich I've had in quite a long time. Yes, seriously. The turkey was definitely great, but I expected that. What really caught my attention was that the Cole Slaw was particularly perfectly sweet and the Thousand Island Dressing was quite delicious. Additionally, the worker was professional and helpful, and even showed me some of the antiques, pointed out a cool picture of her on the wall from 15 or more years ago standing next to an old muscle car (she has worked here for many years), and offered an additional sample bowl of Broccoli and Cheese Soup. The soup was good, too. The place was simply pretty awesome. The only downside was that it was a bit sad to hear how she said the place was always busy and filled with people before the Covid Crazies tried to take over and control and shut down everything, though. And I guess they just never fully opened back up. I think she implied that she and the owner prefer it as "take out only", but the place looks and feels like a place that would be difficult for regulars to find a substitute for. Makes me think they would be disappointed. While I wish I had visited Primo's before the Covid Crazies became a thing, I'm just glad that particular hell on Earth time period is over. Even if there are still obvious negative side effects from the Covid Crazies' path of destruction. Anyways, the plants, antiques, vintage signage, and other decorations were great and created a cool, unique atmosphere. Cool place. To someone like me, that loves plants, it was like a tiny slice of heaven. I bet it was a fun and chill place to eat and hang out at back in the day. I'm looking forward to getting take out again. According to her the Reuben sandwich was the best, by the way this is from favorite sandwich, that she ever had in her life. What makes it so good you ask? According to my wife it was the bread. I ordered for Chicken salad sandwich. Perhaps a regional thing we are not familiar with, their chicken salad is made with pineapple in it & is distinctly sweet. Unfortunately that was not what I expected and it really did not appeal to me. We ordered the coleslaw and potato salad to split. Here again, the potato salad was something different, sweet but not like it was made with sweet potatoes. Suffice to say this was not appealing to us either. The Coleslaw was good but not remarkable. The highlight of this meal - after the Ruben - was the carrot cake. Delicious and an excellent size potion which we split. The price of our lunch was $30 which we felt was quite reasonable. Would we go back? Definitely. We would perhaps pick other things and asked to sample them but the quantity and quality of the food was excellent. Additionally the service was quite good. Although we are not very familiar with all of Akron, the location seemed a little bit off the path. Nonetheless we would make our way there should we return to Akron in the future. Enjoyable sandwiches. I really liked the Reuben sandwich here. It had a nice amount of corned beef flanked on both well-melted cheese, and the bread was nicely grilled (and not greasy). The tasty pickle spear and chips on the side made it a complete and filling meal. Their coleslaw was enjoyable. The carrot cake got a lot of praise from the table, in particular it's surprisingly light and fluffy (but not overly sweet) cream cheese frosting. It might be the best cream cheese frosting I've tried, and they seem to know it's good, as they lay it on quite thick. The restaurant is casual and comfortable. The Hot Spicy Italian all the way is my go to sub with a can coca-cola and a glass of ice. These are very special owners they have runners that walk around with bags of fresh chips with small cups of ranch dressing and they fill your basket if you need more these runners are very special challenged people that have been given a chance to earn a living and they are so awesome. We could only wish there were more businesses that recognize the needs of the community. My hats off to these caring owners you will always be successful. I come here for lunch when in the area the food here is second to none the bread is just simply the best toasted then loaded full of the freshest ingredients. If you do come at lunch time you may want to call ahead and reserve a table you can drop in but you might find yourself with a short wait this is a very popular lunch stop and can get crowded but worth it. It may take a little effort to find this old time deli as many times as I've been here I still get confused and usually just punch it in the GPS to save time. Primos Deli has been serving Akron for over 35 years. They have been voted for some best subs in the area. Everything is cooked to order and the menu has a great selection of your deli favorites. They also have a large beer selection for take out and fourteen on draft. The staff is very friendly and fantastic and they really make you feel like your at home. Today my wife tried their sardine app. and anchovy appetizer. The dishes were very fresh and flavorful. She also tried their house salad, the portion size was great and the lettuce was fresh and crispy. With her salad she also had a side of pastrami which was perfect and very flavorful. I ordered their award winning spicy Italian Sub. It had all the classic Italian cold cuts. The sandwich was really good, my only complaint is that I felt that they were really shy with the meat. I also tried their bean salad, absolutely fantastic. It had great flavor filled with a variety of beans, peppers and onions. As a side dish I ordered the mac n cheese. This dish was really disappointing because the noodles were really over cooked and the whole thing was not really cheesy or had much flavor. I have been looking forward to going back there for dine-in - they had great service, great food and a terrific beer selection. Primo's will be carry-out only indefinitely. This is a slap in the face to the Akron community and to all of those who grew up loving dining at Primo's. The Primo's that I know is not something that can be replicated and thrown into a styrofoam container. Shame on the owner and whoever else supported that decision. Love this iconic place. I always stop by when I am back in Akron. Stopped by today to get my spicy Italian fix. The sub was exactly as I had remembered it, but I was sad to see that the dining room is closed. Apparently, for good. Not sure why, but the sub jus isn't the same by the time your get it home and isn't the same as relaxing and having a few icy cold beers from their wide selection. Please open up the dining room!
