I moved intrastate and interstate many times, DeVries is the worst experience I have ever had. There were missing boxes, broken furniture, broken electronics, a broken smoker, damaged flooring, etc. They stored our items in a "climate controlled warehouse". It was not climate controlled as I had some items sensitive to freezing and thawing that were ruined. Also our brand new mattress was sitting in water while in their care. It has a large water stain and the side collapsed. The insurance is a joke. If your item weight 10 pound but was $6,000 they pay $6 (60 cents a pound). The claims "manager" is the rudest human I have ever dealt with. He denied that his company broke anything and said "we never drop anything". They dropped my desk on my wood floor splintering the floor. Then they closed the door in hopes I would not see it. I would not use this company. They are horrible to deal with and have no concern for your items or you as a customer. read more

I had an amazing experience with DeVries Moving. They were competitively priced and the owner came over to introduce himself while they were packing the truck. They were super helpful, the team was quick and efficient and it took way less time than we thought it would. The movers were polite, clean, professional and very nice. Ricardo and the movers were early, professional and communicative. He called me to touch base on the ETA a couple of days before. They went over the top and put things exactly where I wanted them and even put together the bed frame and furniture!! read more

As far as trustworthy this company gets a 1 from me. When a package of Art wasn't delivered at the time all my other goods came , I had hoped that finding this package would be important to them. Also, after paying an extra $350 to crate an art sculpture , its arrival broke my heart. All handling instructions had been ignored and it was transported upside down. The instructions were fragile, only handle with crate in the topside up. Filed a claim on November 15th and no response is forth coming. So I called and the end result is too bad! You signed off. Let me ask, if it was important to check off each item unloaded then why wasn't the truck unloaded slowly- one bin at a time to check off. Not 4-6 crates at a time. After 1 1/2 hours the driver said he had to get to the next delivery hours away. Oh, and sign here. I understand things happen, but be responsive and trustworthy. Stand up tall for the failure that has occurred. Don't say- TOO BAD. read more

These guys are AMAZING!!! From start to finish, the folks from DeVries did an exceptional job on our move. They were courteous and professional at all levels. The movers they used were clean and professional. The mover in charge was amazing and helped us to get the most out of our experience. The folks coordinating the move from the Spokane Office were consistently in contact with us and helped us solve our needs. Even when they delivered everything, they went above and beyond on helping us get our stuff where it needed to go. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Seriously. DeVries moving company was THE best! The crew came exactly on time, packed up all my belongings, (being extra careful of my fragile items), loaded it all up and unloaded it safely at my new apartment. They lined the wood floors to protect from any potential damage and wrapped all my furniture to protect it during the transport. The men were super friendly, helpful, and polite! They assembled everything correctly and were super timely! I was fully moved and situated in my new place in less then two hours! I can't express how grateful I am for the DeVries moving service and company. Plus, the owner is one of the kindest men I have ever met! 11/10 recommend for your next move! Nope, I do not recommend this company. The original quoter R**s quoted me one price just to get me to use them over any other company. During the moving and packing process, the quote kept going up so that by the time I got the final bill it was $1500 higher with no warning. The movers/packers used their materials very liberally and charged me very heavily for it too! Even though I provided many boxes and packing materials myself. They also disassembled things and did not reassemble them at the new place. Or packed items into used boxes I provided but were too lazy to write the correct ID on those boxes. So, it took me 3 weeks to find a box of food in a misnamed box saying "laundry room". I called the office twice over the following 3-4 wks asking them to ask the packers where in the devil did they pack this or that. It was extremely frustrating. I never got a call back and even R**s said he would come over twice to help look for things and never kept his promise. He just blew me off. This company is not trustworthy and VERY expensive. read more

Husband & Wife team Cat & Allen were awesome. Cat called us a few days before they were arriving to just check in. My husband and I had done all the boxing up and had moved all the boxes into the garage already and all that was left in the house was some furniture that little ol me couldn't move to the garage. Cat and Allen brought a couple helpers with them and it was a pretty impressive system they have. They packed up everything into their truck very seamlessly. They both have great personalities and really have moving down to a science. I was very impressed. I highly recommend using this company to anyone doing a big move. read more

I have had a number of moves over the years, and until delivery of my household goods I thought the move with DeVries would be a good one. However, your truck driver made sure that was not the case. We were originally told that the delivery of our household goods would be made on Saturday the 19th. We arranged to attend a reunion in the Bay Area on the 17th & 18th; we would be home the night of the 18th, and ready for delivery of our goods Saturday morning. We received a call Tuesday the 15th from "Nicki" asking if they could deliver the goods Wednesday the 16th instead of Saturday the 19th. This was not possible since we we were having some rooms painted and rugs cleaned, and that work was still being done on the 15th and 16th. We told "Nicki" that they could deliver later than Saturday the 19th, but not earlier since rooms were still being painted on the 15th and 16th, and we would be in the Bay Area at our reunion on the 17th and 18th. "Nicki" suggested that the driver could just put our goods in the garage and we wouldn't have to be there. This suggestion was not feasible since we were moving from a 4+ bedroom house into a 2 bedroom house with a two car garage. There was no way our goods would all fit into a two car garage; also our dining room table and bedroom set were to be reassembled by the moving crew. "Nicki" then asked if we minded if they delivered our goods to a local mover and then subsequently had the local mover deliver to us. In retrospect, we should have jumped at this since we would not have had to deal with the rude driver we ended up with. However, since the situation seemed so complicated we decided to forgo our reunion on Friday the 18th, and told "Nicki" they could deliver on the 18th. We asked her what time in the morning they would be there and she said between 8:30 and 9:00. After our reunion luncheon and afternoon activities on the 17th, we checked our voice mail and there was a message from the driver advising he would be at the gate of our community at 7:00 AM, and if we had any problem with that we should let him know. Unfortunately, he didn't bother to leave a contact number, and by the time we got his message your office was closed. We felt changing the time from 8:30 to 9:00 to 7AMwas inconsiderate, especially since we felt that we were trying to be cooperative by giving up attending our Friday reunion. The next contact we had with your driver was when we were awakened by a phone call at 5:45 in the morning reminding us that he would be at the gate at 7:00. When I showed irritation that he would call at 5:45 in the morning he indicated that it was my fault since he had not heard from us. I told him he had not heard from us since he did not bother to leave a call back number. He said he thought we should be able to get his number from our "machine". Needless to say, there was a good deal of tension in the air during the delivery of our goods, and it was a generally unpleasant experience. During the placement of two bedroom end tables my wife asked the helper to turn the tables at a angle to see if they would fit better, and the driver commented that she was trying to make a decorator out of them and he had to "get going". He then wanted me to sign off on the paperwork before the helpers had finished putting the dining room set together, and while the washer and dryer were still in the garage. I told him that I didn't want to sign anything until everything was done, and mentioned that the washer and dryer were still in the middle of the garage. His response was how should he know that we would want the washer and dryer in the wash room instead of the middle of the garage. What a JERK!! Update 8/5/14. After unpacking our goods at the new location, we discovered some missing items. These items were packed by DeVries and held in storage for several months. The value of these items was fairly small and way under the cost of the insurance I paid for on the move. However, when we made a claim, DeVries responded that Atlas Moving Company was the responsible party rather than DeVries. This in spite of the fact that all of our dealings had been with DeVries. DeVries is the agent for Atlas. Devries packed our goods and stored them for several months, apparently misplacing one container that included some garden equipment. Moving is bad enough; DeVries has certainly made it worse!! read more

I moved my daughter from Washington D.C. to Spokane. The move went flawless as I had expected. The rate was very competitive and did not change which is common with some carriers. The driver called the day before the expected delivery date and we set up a time for 9:00am and he was there at the scheduled time. There were 3 guys and the unloading went flawlessly and they even put together 2 of my daughters business chairs and coat rack. I am in the transportation business and deal with freight every day, long haul moving and transportation is very difficult and the whole experience went very smoothly. read more

The folks from DeVries that came out to give us an estimate were great and so was their Customer Service agent that we dealt with, but unfortunately they could not make up for the poor packaging done on our move. We had collectible items that needed to be handled and packaged with care, sculpted eagles and western cowboy statues to name a few, and not only were they only wrapped with one piece of paper around them, they were obviously maneuvered around in the box so as to get as many of them as possible in the box...There were heavy items on top of lightweight breakable items...and guess what? Those items were broken! Again and again, we came across such poor packaging of our goods that we were disgusted!! I can only guess the drivers cruise the streets looking for potential packers and stop anybody they see and load them up! I could have done a better job myself even though I'm older and had an injury at the time. We did pay for full value insurance and so we filed a claim. Atlas denied the claim because the house they delivered the items to was not the house we are now living in. We had moved to a short term rental house while our new house was being built Therefore, we kept our household goods all packed. We moved the boxes carefully in our own vehicles to the new house, which was a mile up the road. Because of this, Atlas is using the excuse that we can't prove where the items were damaged...REALLY???? I took pictures of the boxes and the broken items laying next to them, but this was not enough proof. I am flabbergasted! At least they did replace the 60" LCD/LED flatscreen TV immediately, but then we had them unpack it at the sight and it was pretty obvious that the damage done was because of...you guessed...poor packing!! This should have been a no-brainer...Pay our claim and that would have been the end. I now feel that I must warn as many folks as I can to use other companies that may actually put some effort into training their packers. I will continue to tell everyone I can to stay away from Atlas!! read more
