I've bought all my appliances at DeWaard & Bode. Back in October my oven decided it had enough. Right before Thanksgiving and Christmas. Terrible timing. I went up to De & Bodie picked out a oven, paid in full. I was told there was a wait and it might not get here December or first of January. I knew products were slowed down because of the virus. So I thought ok I can live without it until end December early January. December comes and the installation people were ready to install on December 28, the oven hadn't come. So we decided to make an appointment for early January. The installer called last week again ready to install. BUT DeWaard and & Bode didn't have it still. I calledl them up and said the installer wants to instalthe installer iand will be ready on Friday..... But guess what, another employee also had ordered the same oven, so he delivered "my" oven to someone else. I ordered mine on the 14th of October and this other person ordered eary December. Now I can either take the floor model or wait, since I paid for a new one I don't want the floor model. NOW my oven won't be here till mid March. So now its going to be 3 plus months before I get my oven. I'm hoping it was an honest mistake. I asked DeWaard and Bode, don't you have invoiced connected with an item? We've dealt with them a several times. Shopped there whenever we are looking for appliances. Selection wise, they're pretty much the biggest in the area. But, there isn't a great deal of competition in Whatcom county. It shows to some extent. As some other folks have noted, some of their sales staff are not that great. For service I feel a bit more confident of Lehmans, but haven't had any bad times here. Compared to other places (nationwide): They're ok. Not the best I've dealt with but not the worst. Given that I think I can count all the "full service" appliance places in Bellingham with one hand: Check them out. BTW: As per usual I checked the yelp filtered reviews, as usual, NO clue why any of them were filtered. The ratio was four 5-stars and three 1-stars. The 5s seemed about like the non-filtered 5s. First impressions: Very attentive staff! I visited their smaller location. Decent selection of stuff, sale prices weren't bad either. I'll scope out the larger one at a later date but not holding my breath on finding anything i'm looking for. I noticed another reviewer compared them to another retailer that I also like to shop at, they claimed their selection was larger and better. I would disagree with that to some extent. They have good sized locations with budget-friendly options but it consists of a lot brands or designs I wouldn't purchase. I looked at their website, they stock very few things I would put high on my list for purchase. I look for brands like Viking, Wolf, Thermador, Sub-Zero, Electrolux to name a few, as brands I'd consider a higher priority for purchase. The kinds of features I want in certain appliances are frequently only found in commercial appliances and commercial supply outlets but not the kind you'd find at local supply outlets. - Glassdoor fridges, Refrigerator ONLY (D&B don't seem to have any, no mention of it on their site) - Stand-alone propane/gas oven As a few examples, it looks like I'll be buying them at a commercial kitchen supply outlet. I like to keep it local when I can, but sometimes you just can't find what you want. A positive of commercial appliances is that the good ones are designed to be repaired by almost anyone, and replacement parts are typically not hard to acquire (or expensive). read more

Ok so I have to admit this is where my home appliances were purchased.. I have received awesome customer service and pricing in sales and refer all my clients to Ralph whenever they ask. The service dept. is helpful and whenever I have a question in regards to my appliances this is where I turn when I can't figure it out for myself. Just had a service tech help me with my dishwasher, I was curious how these things work so I hung around to see how he could figure out what was going on. Buying appliances during the pandemic is challenging and it did, indeed, take months to get our appliances--with some bumps along the road such as some appliances being delayed multiple times, and one appliance delivered damaged (but noticed immediately by the delivery crew and taken back without questions). Salesperson Igor did an admirable job juggling the no-doubt very many inquiries from everyone (including me) for updates on when appliances would be available. He often proactively reached out with updates when he had them. It took some creativity and work from Igor to get us all our stuff but he pulled it off. read more

We like to buy locally and have found Dewaard and Bode convenient and competitive with other sources. We recently purchased a microwave advertised on line. Interestingly their initial price charged was not the advertised Labor day sale price. To their credit they adjusted the price when the advertised price was called to their attention. Only negative is their installation cost ($150) and delay in delivery on a recent microwave we purchased. Over two weeks to have a simple over the range microwave delivered and installed. read more

Went there as last resort for freezer at the start of the lockdown in March. They had what I wanted in stock so I paid the $40 or $50 more so I did t have to wait for Home Depot to get more. I paid and went shopping in the plaza. Something didn't seem right so I looked at my receipt. I saw the salesman charged me $20 to install my freezer. Just in case you're wondering there's nothing to install, just plug it in. I went back into the store and he told me that it was a fee to bring the freezer inside my house because of liability and that the delivery fee only brings the unit to my door. If I didn't really need a freezer I would've gotten my money back and punched him in his face. I was looking at a condo to buy and they had just bought their appliances from the warden and Bodie and guess what that same fee was there again $20 to install a refrigerator with no water line. And if you look at the other reviews this seems to be the norm for them. Stay away!!! read more

I too like to shop locally and have lived in this town for years and years. This is not the old DeWard and Bode's or Alysum and Bode from days when people were polite. Yesterday i wanted to buy a washer, so called before I went to ask for a salesperson because I am in a wheelchair and it is difficult to go any place.I had questions about the washer and since ours was broken, wanted to buy one before the store closed that day.I encountered the rudest woman in Whatcom County who slammed the phone down in my ear at the end of the conversation and acted as if she could barely be bothered. Today I called the store to talk to the manager. No dice. I got handed off to Ben, the assistant manager who told me the person who answered the phone on Sunday was the"sweetest person around". He kept making excuses for her behavior until I finally said never mind. He didn't want to hear what I had to say. These people who are running the place now must be second or third generation. It was hard to accept, but they really don't care about repeat customers... BTW, we went next door and bought the same washer for $100 less with free delivery. I told Ben on the phone that I would tell everybody I know that D and W needs to clean up their act but he will probably make an excuse for his behavior as well. The point is that he did not care because I wasn't buying anything, just complaining. This is me telling whoever is reading this that their customer service does not exist, that Whatcom has other competitors and this place is not the best place to shop. read more

We purchased relatively high end appliances for our new house. Within the first four years four of them have broke - the GE fridge, GE microwave, GE dish washer and LG washing machine. These guys were quick to tell me how much it was going to cost to fix them and added "we just sell them". Sure, the manufacturers might be at fault but WTF? Fortunately there are plenty of better service options out there. read more

Service department a joke. You can only leave a message. I bought new washer and dryer and used it only a few times and now water is leaking everywhere. They can't get me an appointment for 3 weeks? That is unacceptable. Maybe if their installers, who also damaged my exercise machine mat were more knowledgeable and or trained better, they wouldn't have so many people needing service. Never doing business with DeWaard & Bode again. We have done a significant amount of business with DeWaard & Bode because we like to support our local business. We bought a 50" TV, a washer and dryer and 2 beds. We have had nothing but problems with our washer and dryer. The dryer has needed to be serviced twice and it is still under warranty. The last time, which by the way, is not fixed yet, they sent an EXTREMELY unprofessional service technician out. We called and talked with the service manager. He apologized, grudgingly, and said the part would be ordered and it would be in within the next couple of days and we would get a call as soon as it came in. 5 days later, we still had not gotten a call, so we called the service manager back. Come to find out, the part had come in 3 days earlier and we had gotten no call. Needless to say, they will not be out now for another 3 days, which will be 2 weeks we have been without a dryer. The products we purchased were a premium price and inferior quality. The service in inexcusable. Please do not do business with this establishment again. We don't want anyone else to go through what we have experienced. read more

I am giving 5+ stars for the two delivery guys, Austin and Bu. What a treat talking with them. I am impressed that they have university and advanced degrees, so this made the delivery much more interesting. (They are taking a gap time to figure out what they want to do for careers.) They carefully checked the placement of the dryer, which is blocking my cabinets as the new LG dryer is deeper than the one it replaced. I cannot review fully Dewaard and Bode yet, as I have to give the new washer/dryer another chance. I am not overly impressed with the dryer (and, honestly, who really needs apps on their appliances? Though this is LG, not Dewaard decision). The dryer does not dry as well as my last one and I wish I had not replaced the dryer, but just the washer. Though they would not have matched. I measured the space for a new refrigerator, and brought the measurements with me to the store. I gave the measurements to the salesman, who said "no problem, the refrigerator you are looking at will fit perfectly. The first refrigerator that was delivered, had a broken freezer handle, and was never even brought into my house. The second time the delivery was made, was a bit of a mess! Turns out, the salesman lied, and the refrigerator sticks out too far! Then, when it was being brought into my house (which I had to pay extra for since I have stairs), the guys were not careful, and damaged my stairs and the railing, and tore the weatherstripping on my front door. I was told the only person that could help me was the service manager. I have now called 4 times looking for the service manager, and have left 2 messages asking for a return phone call. Nothing! Apparently, there is either no service manager, or he doesn't know how to return a phone call, or he simply refuses to do so! Buyer beware! I purchased 4 new appliances for my home last year. The washer broke down within 2 months. The transmission was shot ! I was advised to upgrade to another "reliable" washer . That cost me an additional $200. Now the refrigerator has broken down. The icemaker crashed after two years and it will cost me an additional $500 to get that fixed ( do NOT buy a Samsung refrigerator). Now Samsung knows they have a problem with the ice makers . You would think that there would be some compensation for that problem but not the case. There is no backing this product from Dewaard and Bode. Very disappointed with this company. read more

I went here to buy all new appliances....the salesman was great, I think Jason. But when I got the appliances in my home they seemed much cheaper looking than what I witnessed on the showroom floor, however I probably didn't inspect them as much as I did once they were in my home and was using. I paid a lot for a nice LG dishwasher but the front panel seems flimsy, the microwave fan doesn't work well enough to keep the steam from getting all over my cabinets....I've had service come out twice and they insist that its working the way it should. Also, the refrigerator makes loud noise and is an LG as well, not impressed and it's been a year. The worst part of my experience was the delivery, I was scheduled for a window of 5-7pm, they arrived after 8 (in December) took my front door off and left it off for 2 hours (during the whole installation process of 4 appliances) as I sat watching the heat go out the door, very disappointing. The service guys also got a little up tight when I told him he put the refrig door on the wrong way and he had to change it. Fast forward to Jan 2019, I purchased a box spring, it was delivered and the delivery guy barely wanted to remove the plastic, said he was in a hurry to get all the holiday stuff delivered. So he did because I asked him to, sat it down on the bed frame and was out the door. I went in to adjust it on the frame to find it damaged. Immediately called my salesman Joe at Burlington store, who I might add was amazing helping me get this all purchased over the phone! He called the delivery guys, they called me and ask if I would like to keep it and get a discount or get a new one delivered at they don't know when. So got this all redone with Joe, said I would have a delivery the next Saturday, I requested AM delivery as not to have to sit home another day waiting. Needless to say, I never got a call the night before giving me a window of time so I called the Bellingham store and was told I wasn't on the list to get a delivery. Omg here we go. Finally got this figured out and I'm sure I wasn't on their list as I was told oh it will be end of day after 530, not sure when. At 315 I got a call from a guy saying he was leaving Bellingham to bring it. Overall just a big nightmare with their delivery service. read more

I went into the Hannigan store to purchase a new stove...I was super excited I'm that weird person that loves appliance shopping. I had bought my washer, dryer and dishwasher there all on separate occasions and everything went OK. This time I knew exactly what I wanted, the salesman was friendly and I ordered my new stove. They didn't have it in stocks but he said they had already ordered some. He told me that it could be in by the next Monday but could take up to 3 weeks, he didn't know. After 2 weeks of not hearing anything I called to check and was told there wasn't a delivery date on it and they would call their sales rep and get back to me by the next day. No. A week later I called back...so this is week 3... the receptionist couldn't get a single person from sales or delivery on the phone so she emailed some manager to call me with an expected delivery date. The next day my salesman called to let me know my stove is on backorder and it would be another month. I wasn't extatic about this and asked him if there were any other options, he said for sure he would get some options put together for me and get back to me later that day, maybe the next day...it's now been another week, no stove no options...let's just say I'm really not a happy customer. Twice I called to have my appliances checked for repair. I was told my mini fridge would cost more to repair than to purchase a new one by the D&B service repair person. It's seemed extreme considering the unit wasn't that old. With a simple Google search, and a $14.00 part....it works good as new. I installed the new fan effortlessly. I also had someone come out to check my side by side fridge that was not holding a temperature. Again, they told me it was going to be an extensive repair. Again, I googled my model of fridge and found out there was a recall on the motherboard. I was sent to motherboard for free and installed it myself. Problem fixed. When I told them about the recall, they said it was highly unlikely and that they hadn't heard about it. (Really?) I am upset that I called them the second time, and had to pay for their service fee to come out to the house twice....but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt because they are the big guys in town and reputable from what I have heard.?.? Unless you're under warranty, call someone else for service or always get a second opinion. (And always google the issue first apparently) read more

Huge selection of all kinds of appliances. Very small selection of furniture. I appreciate that the salespersons were not so aggressive as the last time I visited several years ago. Recently I have been working with the service department to repair a dishwasher that is under warranty. There have been multiple repair men out over the last several months. Two visits ago, the service man took everything out from under my sink and told my kids to put it away. The most recent implied that the one before broke it. Only one told us what was wrong and what he was ordering to correct it. The last few have not bothered to explain anything or tell us what they were doing to fix it. I have had to call the service department ,multiple times to find out what was going on. Getting calls back was not always timely either. Last call, the service scheduler said, it should be fine to use while waiting for the parts. The part comes in Thursday but it's only plastic feet that go under.... all well and good except they left my dishwasher torn apart. Not use able and it now smells awful! Not very pleased with them. The scheduler is polite. That's what the one star is for. read more

Last year I bought a new stove from Dewaard & Bode. The stove recently started acting funny so wanted to call for service. I searched the internet for the phone number and Yelp showed up 1st. After reading some of the poor reviews, I was a little concerned about a possible service call.... I called Dewaard & Bode to schedule the service. The staff was Very friendly, a service was scheduled the next day, parts were ordered and back a few days later. Service was out the next day. It could not have gone any smoother. My very older Washer & Dryer both quit working within days of each other!! - Ralph in Sales Department was very helpful in educating me about the newer appliances. Also, Ralph was patient understanding when I changed my mind about one other brand and called at last minute to order a Speed Queen Washer and Dryer. He also gave me over the phone all the features of this new choice, and their warranty information.. Thank you, Ralph. Then within two days, (on Christmas Eve, the delivery was scheduled!.) The two delivery crew arrived on time (a verify delivery phone call was made the day before) and I wish to thank very much Jacob S. and Jerid P. for taking their time to properly remove the ancient old Washer & Dryer, and professionally installing the new SQ ones. They were friendly, professional, and installed new hoses, and vents, and cleaned after installation. Two great guys who work well together! Thank you. I have used the appliances for two days, about seven loads so far, and am happy with how quick and easy the Washer, and Dryer are completing the laundry process.. very quiet too. The clothes come out very clean and smelling fresh. Just want to wish all at DeWaard & Bode a Very Happy New Year, and recommending their store and staff to anyone looking for excellent service.. After looking for a washer & dryer set in all the other stores in town (Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) we found by far the best service, prices, and selection here. We had in mind some brands we were looking at specifically and got great input from the salesman without being pushy. After a terrible experience at Best Buy it was so nice to walk in and buy a set within 1/2 hour. We have bought 2 other appliances at Deward & Bode in the past few years and have always been happy with the service. read more

We have bought appliance at D&B for 25 years, but the communication and logistical coordination with Chris was atrocious. He pushed us to take delivery when we were not ready. He'd set it up and I'd end up canceling. One of those was sent anyway to our old house we didn't own anymore. The electronic notifications kept going to a defunct number despite three requests to change the number. On the day of actual delivery the crew showed up 90 minutes before the stated delivery window despite being told no one would be there. This experience is unlike any of our previous ones, so I'd recommend you deal with someone else or go somewhere else. read more

Yesterday I intended to purchase a barbecue but our sales person became extremely rude when I declined to give him our phone number. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told he "wasn't there." No one made the slightest attempt to earn our business or even to make us feel welcomed to be in their store. I would highly recommend another retailer over Dewaard & Bode. read more

We purchased many items for our new home from DeWaard & Bode. In one respect, we have been treated very poorly. A Simmons Beautyrest mattress we purchased in 2015 is under manufacturer's warranty but has failed; this has caused me many back pains, doctor visits and medical bills before I abandoned this "new" mattress and began to sleep on the "old" firm bed in the guest room. We submitted our Warranty Claim request on October 23, 2018 to salesman, David Ihlan, and despite repeated reminders, including a visit to the office, we have received no response! read more
