We purchased a new fridge, range and dishwasher from Jeff at the Meridian store. I have to say I was slightly concerned with some of the service reviews but Jeff was very helpful and knowledgeable. He helped us pick out products that would work for us. We had an issue with the ice maker in the fridge and called the service desk. They were helpful and set up a convenient service appointment. I then called Jeff about the issue. He called me back and explained possible problems and put us at ease that it would be taken care of. When the service rep arrived he was knowledgeable and very pleasant. He fixed the problem, explained the issue and it works great now. I can say without a doubt that I will be a loyal customer and will give them a shot when purchasing items in the future. read more

I have been a long-time customer of DeWaard and Bode and have always been very happy with their professionalism and competitive prices. Not very often do I write reviews, but for some reason I was compelled to write one after my last shopping experience with them. My husband and I went into look at purchasing new appliances for our kitchen and talked to a salesman named Nick. We purchased three new appliances and Nick was so patient in answering all our questions, and going the extra mile to make sure we understood all the new features on each new appliance. Because of our experience of doing business with Nick, I would recommend him to anyone who is planning on buying, or just looking at new appliances, to ask for Nick. He is very knowledgeable and will make you feel comfortable and won't rush you out the door. I also want to put in a good word for their service department. Whenever I have had a problem they send out someone as soon as possible and get the job done. I have only talked to the service department by phone but they have always been very friendly and concerned about getting my problem solved as fast as they can. They ordered the parts and we now have been without a machine for over a week. They said we can bring you a loaner for $40,instead of just bringing me a new machine. We had a good experience buying a washer and dryer here. But two months later, the washer stopped working. No big deal, still under warranty. Called service department and were nice enough. They sent a tech out to take a look, said that they need to replace the controller. Ok, sounds reasonable. A second tech came back a week later with a controller that they took from another washer in the warehouse, replaced it, still didn't work. Came back again a couple days later to replace the controller again with one from the manufacturer, still didn't work. After three visits and a couple of weeks later, we were hoping to be prioritized, but were told to wait a few days, and even made it sound like they were doing us a favor by sending someone out of Saturday. Ok, maybe they were busy. Finally another tech came to replace the controller again. Didn't work. A month, four visits and three controllers later, I called to ask what is to be done next and asked for an exchange, which they had suggested in a previous call. But service reps, who were nice and helpful in the beginning, were rude and completely unhelpful. I understand their frustrations, but I would advice against showing these frustrations to their customers. After all, we paid for their products. Bottom line, good sales experience. But if your product is faulty, good luck with dealing with the service department. When researching a company, check out their service department also, and weigh that in your decisions. read more

I came in with my dad, who bought a couple few appliances earlier in the month, and the experience was great. I needed 5 new alliances for our new home and Kyle worked with my on pricing to match what I found online at a box store. He explained the mail on rebates and even found me another one that he could add on. He really put out the effort to get me the best price to earn my business. My husband and I purchased the top of the line LG washer/dryer set on June 20th at the Bellingham store. The washer was delivered the following week and all was good up to that point. Later that day I opened the door of the washer and was hit with a very strong chemical odor, I never had that happen on previous new washers. I ran a 'tub clean' cycle expecting to get rid of the strange chemical odor but, it was even stronger afterwards. I did 2 more to no avail so, tried a vinegar wash which did nothing. I subsequently did a total of 3 separate bleach 'washes' and there was still the chemical odor. It was our remodel contractor who figured out it was coming from the rubber gasket around the door opening. Both our contractor, and his foreman, were shocked that the awful chemical odor was so strong. Three days after it was delivered, my husband called the salesman, Jason, who sold it to us. He likened it to a "new car smell" and said his exact same model had an odor but went away after a couple of washes. When we told him everything we had done to try and get rid of the smell, he said he would refer the matter to someone above him. On Monday July 1st we received a call from the service manager, Bren, who was not very helpful. He didn't seem to care that we were unhappy with an expensive purchase, around $3,000.00, that gave off a strong chemical odor that was coming into our house (hasn't he heard of environmental health hazards from cancer causing chemical?!). He even commented, "there is a lot of money involved here", after my husband told him we wanted a replacement. We explained that a brand new washer that smells like chemicals is not acceptable. The Service manager said he would contact LG and get back to us. It has been over 2 weeks now and there was never a call back. On Wednesday the 17th we called the store to try and get the name and email of the general manager, but the receptionist wouldn't supply one. Instead ,she put us through to the voicemail of Gordon, the sales manager and as of today, no call back! This is our first purchase with DeWaard & Bode, we are new to the Pacific NW, and it will be our last. We have never had a problem with a new appliance purchase and never a smell from a new washer (Miele and Samsung). We regret buying an LG product AND ESPECIALLY regret ever walking into this store! read more

Horrible service. Sales was okay. But right after purchase our refrigerator's freezer drawer would not close properly and I called and called and absolutely no one ever answered or returned my call after leaving several voicemails. Then our dishwasher completely broke. After 2 months of calling and calling finally someone returns my call and schedules a technician to come out. Technician comes out and says motherboard completely fried and that all new parts will have to be ordered but unfortunately parts are on back order...so we had to wait another month month/half...it was just absolutely ridiculous. Then sadly we get dishwasher fixed and technician was supposed to be at our house between 12-2 so my husband looses a day of work to be home for technician!!! all for the technician to not get to our house until 7pm at night. Poor guy! Bottom line - hire more people if your company is that behind. We will never ever buy anything from DeWaard and Bode again. read more

We bought a Samsung stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher from DeWaard & Bode in the winter of 2018. It was a package deal advertised with a great rebate offer. We were supposed to get a $600 rebate in 6 to 8 weeks. It took 3 months and 8 calls to Samsung to get a $ 300 gift card for1/2 of the rebate, then an additional 3 months and 6 more calls to get the other $300 gift card. Now, 1 & 1/2 years after our purchase, the ice maker on the refrigerator stopped working. A service guy came out and charged us $128 for 8 minutes of time to tell us that the ice maker needed to be replaced. Although he told us that it is a common problem, he didn't bring the replacement kit with him. The service Dept called the next day to tell us that the Kit could be ordered and we could schedule another service call and get it replaced for $360. This whole process has been disappointing. If your are looking for great service, or reliable appliances, I would not recommend Dewaard & Bode or any Samsung appliance. read more

I'm not sure if what I experienced was pure laziness or complete incompetence. We called the company that makes our dishwasher to put in a warranty claim on Monday morning. We were told that we could expect to hear from D&B very shortly to set up a service appointment. After waiting all day, we still heard nothing. Tuesday morning we called D&B to make the appointment ourselves and were told that they never received the service request. So we called the other company back and were told that they could see that the request was sent. However the guy at that company emailed it again, faxed it, AND called D&B to make sure they got it. Again, we waited all day and never heard anything. We called twice, but no one was answering the phone so we left messages. Finally someone called back and said they still hadn't received the request. Bull. It was sent through two different mediums AND they were called by the company requesting it as well as us. We called the dishwasher company back and told them to pick a different service provider. Now we have to wait a week with our dishwasher in the middle of our kitchen. If you're not going to do your job, close your doors and walk away. Maybe that's why there is never a single car in the parking lot? read more

I've spent thousands of dollars at DeWaard and Bode over the last year during a remodel. I regret my purchases and feel service would have been at least equal if not better at one of the box stores. Too much of a sleazy salesmen feel every time I had an inquiry or stepped into the store. Service and communication post purchase is non existent. I get caught up in the moment because my goal is to purchase appliances, but I will do so somewhere else in the future. read more

I would highly, highly advise AGAINST Dewaard & Bode. I purchased new fridge from them in October. Installation left without confirming that the water nozzle works. I called within 20 minutes of them leaving to report this, after 4 back & forth calls (installation department vs repair department, neither wanted to take care of it, kept sending me to the other department), got an appointment for 9 days out. In the meantime, my husband got the water to work but with very light water pressure---it took about 90+ seconds to get 8 oz of water. A repairman came out on scheduled day, looked at it for less than 10 minutes and said that root problem is the water pressure itself, not a faulty part nor a faulty fridge. Wrote up a bill for $80 for the visit. I told him I wasn't going to pay it because installation didn't do it correctly to begin with. After this heated discussion, he wrote off the bill because I purchased the extended warranted. Had I not, I would have been stuck with it.... Deward and Bode will nickle and dime you. For a "local" company, you would think that they would go above and beyond to take their of their customers but that's obviously not the case. read more

Terrible place. Do not waste your time or money. Bought a washing machine here 2 and a half months ago with their service warranty. My washer broke this morning. Seriously! After only 2 and a half months. I had problems getting ahold of someone. When I finally got a call back, they tell me they can't come look at it for another week and a half!!! Really!?!? So I'm out a 1,000 and still don't have a working washing machine. In the meantime they are wasting away my 5 year warranty (that I paid for) because my machine will sit here not getting used until they figure out when the are going to get around to fixing it. This experience was so disappointing. We tried to shop local and it wasn't worth it. We had our small stacked washer and dryer die and needed replacements ASAP. The salesman was helpful and told us we could get a dented one for a discount and it could be delivered soon. The price kept going up with added delivery and attachment fees so pretty soon we were up to a $1500+ investment. We scrambled and they asked for payment right away to deliver it soon, which we agreed to since we're were without an appliance we needed. When the delivery team arrived, they looked at the room, perplexed (we'd sent measurements ahead of time before buying), and then said they wanted to go through our front door with their muddy boots and drag the appliances over our new flooring since we're remodeling. The laundry room is in the back. I asked them to please not, and they finally agreed, but then proceeded to hastily remove my back screen door which they never put back fully. After that they began working, and I tried to let them be, until I heard glass shatter. They'd leaned on the window in the laundry room and it was shattered all over the floor. They said they'd clean it up, but it was a windy stormy day and after quickly picking up most the glass pieces they just left the hole. They then used my bathroom and left it muddy and after nearly an hour left the machines installed. I asked them how they'd handle the broken Window and they avoided the question, finally saying the manager would usually call and take care of it. I clarified I'd expect him to call promptly since it was nearly freezing outside and it was a Friday on a long weekend. Alll day I received no call. By 4, with my window letting heat out, I called our sales rep who was mortified. He did some calling and found out that the delivery team had said we were remodeling so the broken window was no big deal, which was completely untrue. He got ahold of the manager and we were told he'd be in contact. Luckily my husband was able to get off work and patched the window. Nearly a week later we were called not by Deward and Bode, but by a window repair company to visit for an appraisal. I let them know it was way too late. At this point, my expensive dryer started to stop every 5 minutes, and my husband looked behind the machine to see they'd installed it with no airlflow and an incredibly kinked hose exactly as the installation booklet they'd left on our counter pictured not to. He went and purchased a new hose himself and reinstalled it. He'd now done our window and our hose, at our expense. I looked over the charges and saw that the hose was a separate charge I'd now paid for twice and discovered they'd also charged me for changing the direction of the front loading doors (which were opposite of what we'd asked for). At this point I began calling, and finally got a manager who said he couldn't believe this happened. I asked how they could make it right and he told me he wasn't sure yet, since this never happened. I thought this meant he'd take it seriously and find a solution for our huge inconvenience and some reimbursement for additional expense, perhaps even the colossally shoddy delivery. He didn't call me back. The repair team called my husband nearly another week later to come reset the door so it opened out, as they'd promised to do for free and then charged us for. He arrived and could only do one, so we're back to one opening to the back of the room. Finally, after a month, we received a check with no context for less than $60, which doesn't even cover the window, much less installation and the hose we had to re-buy and install. It didn't come close to the wasted time we spent calling for support, repairing their mistakes and waiting for various repair people to come fix one thing or another on multiple days we had to take off work. The manager who said he'd resolve this never got back to me. I won't be using this company again. Even a large company probably would have been more responsive and I would have expected a local company to care a lot more about their cusumer experience. Every step of the way their was a chance to make things right and they delayed or avoided it. Communication with management was terrible. I've never been more disappointed in customer service at any size company for a major purchase. read more

Worst customer service experience EVER! As the contracted service company in our area, DeWaard and Bode refused to service our product. We received a call from the service department explaining that they would not do the work because we purchased our product from a competitor. Fine! They proceeded to explain that the company we purchased our appliance from participated in practices that DeWaard and Bode does not support. In addition, it was also explained that while they do receive reimbursement from the manufacturer for the service work, it is not enough to make it worth their time and sustain their service department. They told us that we were welcome to pick up the parts for our appliance, but that was where their obligation ended. The parts were sent to DeWaard and Bode after I directly contacted the manufacturer with an issue and I was told that DeWaard and Bode would contact me to set up a service appointment. Mind you, we have purchased from DeWaard and Bode multiple times in the last several years...NEVER AGAIN! I attempted to have a conversation with the manager as to why I was upset with the way this situation was handled. He repetitively looked at me and said, "But I don't understand why you are upset." I finally left because I was clearly wasting my time and once again contacted the manufacturer of my appliance. The employee I spoke with there clearly understood my frustration, agreed that I should not have been involved in the politics, and also felt this interaction to be very unprofessional. DeWaard and Bode has every right to refuse the service work, but this was handled very unprofessionally and the response from upper management was unsatisfactory. While I would prefer to buy locally for the most part, I cannot stand by and support a company with this poor level of customer service and lack of professional approach. Edited to add: Two days after originally posting this review, I received a very nice call from the owner of DeWaard & Bode. He LISTENED to my story. He apologized for the way I was treated and for being put in the middle of politics, saying that he would be very upset if his wife was treated like I was. He said he would completely understand if we never made another purchase at DeWaard & Bode and told me he was on his way to a meeting with the service department where he intended to address this situation. My hope is that this situation can be avoided for someone else in the future. read more

I would never recommend DeWaard and Bode to anyone, ever. We are on our 2nd appliance from (1st one was returned) them and have experienced the absolute worst customer service in our lives. Once you have bought a product from them, they do not care about you. We never get our phone calls returned from the service department, we have had the same problem with our purchased appliance 3 times now (under 6 months) and the latest we have been without ice for over a month. We have made repeated phone calls and are repeatedly ignored. The day we walked into DeWaard and Bode is one I regret and will forever. If you purchase an appliance from them I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you also purchase a service contract as you will most likely need it serviced and then once you are involved with service........Good luck! When they say "I'll find out and call you back" it never happens. Just please do yourself a favor and save yourself the un-due stress, go somewhere else. read more

First, walking into their store you'd think you'd just entered a men's club......no woman sales people anywhere......ever (been going there 10 years). They are primarily young men that are thrown out onto the sales floor and wait and pounce as you walk through the door. I don't feel they have any interest in what I need except to sell the product and the products they are selling have been a huge disappointment. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher....never liked Maytag but needed to install it in our new kitchen within 2 days and it matched our colors so we bought it. They claimed it was a GREAT product. That was 4 years ago and we've had nothing but problems......replaced 2 face panels and spent way more than what we paid for the dishwasher. Our old dishwasher worked 12+ years without ONE problem....we would have kept it except the color no longer matched. Purchased a fridge.....the motor was so loud that it echoed throughout our kitchen. Told them about it on day two. Fought with them to return it. After upgrading, they agreed to return it but it was a hassle beginning to end. Purchased a very expensive mattress.........absolutely hated it within the first week. They refused to return it so we are out $2000+ for a bed we can't sleep on. We will never go back. The reason I gave them one star is for their parts department. Very nice people, have a large selection of parts and try to get it right. read more

We have purchased a number of appliances from DeWaard and Bode over the past 15 years for our home and 9 rentals but no longer. The last purchase was in June 2018 at one of our apartments.. was a washer and dryer... Several months our tenant notice a leak into the garage.. Thinking it was a plumbing problem with the drain hose, I called our appliance repair person and he found that the washing machine was never hooked up to the drain pipe and the hose went into the wall behind the washing machine. I did notify D B and took them the invoice... a month went buy and no one contacted me... I also called our handy man to check in the crawl space to see if there was any damage.. total cost for the two bills came to $150 and expected to get reimbursed .. I took the second bill into the store and all I got was an argument from the service manager stating that I should have called the store to have the problem checked out. He blamed everyone but the installer.. He argued with me for 15 minutes and finally agreed to pay us for their problem... At this time I do not think we will ever shop at DeWaard and Bode again.. read more

DeWaard & Bode has been to my home over 8 times to "fix" my leaky Jenn Air dishwasher. I've spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours waiting for the repairman then waiting while he tries to repair it. They've replaced my soap dispenser, the rubber around the inside - even told me to not use soap in the dishwasher (um isn't that why you have a dishwasher?) Now, on the 8th trip to my house, the repairman wants to replace the top and bottom spinners at a cost of ANOTHER $200! I told him, "How about you get the parts that you think will fix it, install it and if it works I'll pay you." But no, the repair coordinator called and said parts and labor will be another $200! The service department is obviously inept. Additionally the service manager was rude and basically didn't want to have to deal with me. I'm now searching for a new dishwasher - god only knows what's wrong with the one I have? But one thing is for sure.... I WILL NOT BUY ANY APPLIANCE FROM DEWAARD AND BODE! read more

We bought several high end appliances from them after moving here. They are knowledgeable about their products and it is easy to purchase appliances from them. However, there were a few times it was very frustrating to reach one of the sales clerks after the purchase because he was always with another customer. What really didn't sit well with us were all the installation costs they wanted, and after making purchases already, it felt like a "bush league" nickel and dime transaction. It was even difficult to get the price of installation nailed down so we would know what the actual charges would be. We have major appliances sitting in our kitchen that we are slowly installing on our own because we thought they just wanted too much for installation. We have always had free installation on even lower end appliances with other businesses. We have more items to purchase, like tv's, microwaves, etc, but we will be going elsewhere. read more

About five years ago we purchased a couch, love seat and chair from DeWaard & Bode. We looked at several different sets. Along with the salesperson we decided on a leather set of furniture. Three months ago it began to crack and peel. We called and they told us that we bought bonded leather. We specifically asked for leather but what we ended up getting is a very thin layer bonded to fabric. We called and they said that the warranty was good for a year but they would call the manufacturer. I have called back and they still haven't gotten a response. A week has gone by and still no follow up call. When something goes wrong you learn what kind of company your dealing with. We have purchased many items from them, but this is the last. I'm highly disappointed on the way this was handled by Dewaard & Bode. Actually I should say they really didn't handle it at all. Our family and friends are disappointed also in the way this was handled. We won't be spending our money with a company that doesn't help when their is a problem. read more

We purchased a washer & dryer, refrigerator and dishwasher two years ago from DeWaard & Bode. The refrigerator is a Whirlpool Gold and cost us $1600.00. We were paying, as we went, as we were working on a remodel of our kitchen. The service mechanic installed the refrigerator and attached the connection wrong. The refrigerator has leaked for at least the best part of two years and ruined the floor at the back of the refrigerator. The connection is all corroded and not useable. The service mechanic who came out and looked at it said it was attached wrong. It is our oinion that it is DeWaard & Bode' s liability. We try and buy locally and keep Whatcom County first. The service manager at Dewaard & Bode did not see it that way and he told us he did not know when the leak started and would not be liable. He offered us nothing in the way of service or assistance. I told him to come out and look at the damaged floor and he would have no doubt it had leaked for the full two years. He did not care to do that. He said they have no liability whatsoever for this refrigerator and he would plan on doing nothing. The service at this store was awful and I will not return or recommend them to anyone. We will drive to Seattle to purchase a new refrigerator. Not happy!!! read more
