We walked in, just my wife, daughter and myself, a table of 3, and were quoted about 35 minutes. 50 minutes later we walked up to see how long it would be and they tell us we are the next 4 top (numerous 5 and 6 people groups that came after got to still go though). Fast forward another 30 minutes and we are finally seated. We order immediately after sitting, as we are very hungry at this point, and then wait another 45 minutes for food. Food is good, but the service up until that point absolutely ruin the whole experience. My daughter should've been home in bed before we were even served food. If the wait is going to be longer, be honest with your customers. I have been here numerous times before, and usually the experience is pleasant, but after tonight, I doubt I will ever be back again. One of the top 5 worst dining experiences of my life. Shame on you Log Inn, do better. read more

The Log Inn is iconic for our area, well known for their fried chicken. We have eaten here several times before, but my wife and I decided to stop here on our way home this week. But the Log Inn is at a great disadvantage with me because my mom makes the best fried chicken on the planet. The Log Inn serves their side dishes family style -with free refills, except a party of two does not qualify for this option; But, there is a work around: If one orders a child's plate to take home to junior (Real or not), then the family style sides are an option. Junior ordered the ham steak to take out and my wife ordered chicken (all white) and I ordered chicken ( all dark) - I know, there is a nursery rhyme about us. Our waitress was also a student of nursery lore, and immediately informed us that she was changing our orders to two regular chicken dinners to avoid the up charge. That's how helpful they are here. The sides did not disappoint and the buttered corn was extra good. Mashed potatoes and gravy (cream of course but they also offer brown) was excellent. We also had Cole slaw which is served in a slightly sweet vinegar style which added a unique depth to the dish. And as for the chicken, well mom need not worry, but this was a close second. In fact, my mother just turned 88, so I believe instead of having her cook, we will just bring her here. Love this place! read more

It was very cold outside and not much better inside. Everyone was eating with their coats on. The waitress had their coats on. The service was great . The waitress recommended the chicken twice. My wife ordered the quarter chicken and I ordered the half chicken. It was greasy over cooked. We ended up with a doggy bag and it was actually for our dogs. I would not recommend the chicken. We were in town for the holidays and we took a shot for two of us to walk in and wait for a table. The place was packed as expected with a line down the hallway and out the door. We gave our name and rolled the dice and waited at the bar. We got lucky when two ladies sitting at the bar were called to their table and we snagged the seats. After waiting for 40+ minutes, we just decided to eat at the bar. The bartender hooked us up right away and we had delicious fried chicken, mashed potatoes and milk gravy, peas, Cole slaw, and warm rolls right in front of us in no time. This place is CASH ONLY. This is not listed on their website or posted anywhere in the restaurant, but there is an ATM in there. The food was alright, I had the roast beef with coleslaw, mashed potatoes and fried mushrooms. The roast beef and gravy tasted good but was a bit dry. Coleslaw was very sour, it was served in a pool of apple cider vinegar. The fried mushrooms were excellent, it was soft and juicy on the inside. The sides come in huge portions, so you are definitely getting your money's worth there. It was packed when I visited on a Tuesday night. The place is big and has multiple rooms, I sat in one that had wooden walls, was dimly lit, had no windows and was very old-timey. The whole draw of the restaurant is that Lincoln spent the night here once, so the atmosphere was fitting. read more

The service was wonderful as usual but the fried chicken that we all love and go there to eat was not good this time. The breading on it tasted old. Everyone in our party of 16 was complaining about it. I hate to think that the food that has been really good before is now horrible. Our family has been coming to the Log Inn over the years and it was nice to go back after many years to eat here again. Three of us ordered the fried chicken and one person got the open faced roast beef. The chicken is better than I remembered. It was served piping hot. My wife got two huge thighs, I got the quarter white meat which was a huge breast and three wings. More than enough chicken to enjoy. The German fried potatoes were just as I remembered along with the red cabbage. The mashed potatoes with white gravy was also good. We split a couple of desserts at the end of the meal. Coming in here I was told by my family that this is where Abe Lincoln stayed the night as he was passing through, it used to be an Inn. The place is divided up into rooms/sections. Passing by the desserts/pies going to our table, they look delicious!! We all ordered family style, they bring out mashed potatoes, slaw, peas and corn and hot rolls all you can eat and then you order your meat..roast beef, fried chicken, ham, chicken livers.
