Dave is the man! I contacted him back in November for removal of a snapped exhaust stud! Dave responded right away and told me my two options. Option A was a lot cheaper then Option B and he stated he would try option A first, even with the low success rate. I told Dave I would get back to him, because I was swamped with time to get my Sportster to him. I contacted him at the beginning of February and Dave wasn't hesitant to take my bike in. I dropped off my bike 2/7/19 and my bike was ready 2/11/19 with the stud fixed and brand new TBR exhaust on. The one thing I really appreciated was Dave's honest business. He texted me Saturday saying the bike was done and option A was a success, when he could've easily charged me the price of Option B, and that speaks volume for his work ethic and him as a person! Dave is an excellent mechanic. He gave me a quote over the phone and is very easy to talk to. He is about half the price of any dealership or shop. His work is above the quality of anywhere else I have been. He communicated with me through the whole process and let me know if I needed any extra parts. Dave is a true master of his profession. He mounted and balanced a supplied new rear wheel, repacked rear wheel bearings. He installed a new ignition switch which he ordered and picked up. He flushed brake lines and checked all brake components, replaced rear master cylinder cover. Also installed passenger backrest recall brackets. He installed a phone charger mounted on handlebars. I needed to have my bike serviced. I own an 03 HD Heritage Softail. I was having problems with the engine as it would stall / engine shuts off at low speeds or while at a stopped. It's been awhile since I last had her serviced but unfortunately cannot afford paying the dealership cost of $110 an hour. So, I found DG Cycles of Martinez via Yelp. I contacted him and inquired about his service. Upfront, friendly and straight forward, "Dave" told me his hourly shop rate and said he could accommodate in me even in such short notice. I had called him on Tuesday and agreed to drop off on Thursday. Dave recommended that I have her towed to his shop. He said if you have AAA Roadside Service to use that to drop off the bike which I did. I'm so glad that I did because unknownst to me, the roads to get to his shop are unpredictable. DG Cycles is located in the unicorporated hills of Martinez. Best way to get there is to go thru Pinole Valley Road and take that to the top. At some point the roads turns into gravel making it very difficult to ride into the shop. Dropped off the bike and personally met Dave. He gave me a tour of his shop. He told me his background in motorcycles and the dealership he used to work for. I got a good feel about Dave. Sounded honest and personable. The carburetor needed serviced and I asked him to look over the bike and should he find anything else that required fixing to do so. Dave texted me the next day, Friday and told me what he discovered and said he would get right on it. Later that day he followed up with further info about the bike and after a test run and tuning she'd be ready for pick up. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pick my HD up on Friday, and asked if I could come by Saturday instead. Dave's response... "No problem." Furthermore, because of the location, he would meet me at the bottom of his shop at Alhambra Valley Road and Rancho La Boca Road with the bike. He is aware that most riders aren't comfortable to ride thru gravel so included with his service is a courtesy tow/drop off at this location. (Simply cuz the road is paved). I picked up my bike today and of all my luck discovered i had left my wallet at the house. Dave was quite understanding and told me I could simply PayPal him for the work. I felt so bad and embarrassed. I told Dave I couldn't just leave with the bike so I opted to PayPal him as we stood there talking. Dave is a very reasonable man. Not only was he accommodating but professional. Dave explained to me what services he performed along with a few additional things like bleeding out my brake lines, adjusting them and a few more things. All that at NO additional costs. Before we parted ways and I took possession of my bike, I discovered that I had no cash ($5.00) to pay for my toll to get back home. I was so embarrassed to asked but had no choice and asked Dave if he could "spot" me $5 for toll. Without hesitation, he gave me $5 and told me not to worry about. Well, I cannot take advantage of someone's generosity so once again I PayPal'd him an additional $5.00 back to him. FML!!! I took the bike for a good run. Romped her through country roads, city streets and opened her up on the freeways. I cannot be most satisfied. In closing, I am quite satisfied with the work performed on my Harley Davidson. I highly recommend DG Cycles for your next V-Twin bike. I think I have found a new shop to take my bike to and will refer my friends to do the same. read more

First off, David cares about you and your motorcycle. He offered to drop me off at BART when I brought him my ride and pick me at BART when my ride was finished. I contacted David for a primary leak. Falling back on his knowledge of Harley Motorcycles, he was able to determine that the main drive gear had broken causing the front pulley to come loose and start chewing up the inner primary. The result is to replace or repair the transmission (an 8 hour job plus parts). He completed the job at 1/3 the cost of any other motorcycle shop in CALIFORNIA! The man is skilled and he will be doing all of my service and repairs. Next up! New S&S Cam kit, 34 tooth front pulley, engine mapping. And soon to come a fairing install from a 2005 Electra Glide with all gauges, wires and GPS. read more

Dave is very knowledgeable and he does quality work. He's worked on my Street Glide multiple times and its always a quick turn around. He replaced my rear air shocks, rebuilt my charging system (stator/regulator/etc) installed a new front tire, rebuilt my PM brake calipers and general maintenance service. I found Dave's shop on Craigslist. I was a little hesitant to trust someone with my baby (Harley XL 1200) Especially someone from Craigslist! Well, he put my mind at ease right away. He's very polite and we'll spoken first of all. He took a lot of time to talk to me about my bike over the phone. His knowledge of my bike was vast and could only be from years of experience. He wrote me an estimate BEFORE the repairs and had me approve it. He was in constant contact with me the whole time keeping me informed of the repairs and parts ordering situations. I had a rocker box leak, and wanted the bike generally checked over. When I went to pick up the bike, to my surprise, he had even detailed it!! It was all cleaned up and ready to ride!
