So, new rider here as of April, and out on a tour of California on my new bike. I get to the furthest reach of my ride and--loose chain. Really loose chain. I had seriously stretched out the stock chain riding all the canyons and going down the freeway with my buddy. Now--I'm nowhere near my buddy, or home, but I know it's not good to have 5" of slack in my chain, so I call up the only motorcycle shop with no "closed" info on Yelp, and leave a message. Chris calls me back, talks to me, tells me to bring it in to his shop in Santa Rosa the next morning, and settled my mind. Fast forward to today as I sit here. Chris is polite, knowledgeable, and told me exactly what part to buy to get this job done and me back on my bike on the road. He's working as I write this, which is pretty cool. He is by appointment only, but made a consolation for me since this was a high-priority event and I don't live around here (you're amazing, bro), and I have to say: if I lived around here: I'd get on his appointment list for sure to get any work done that I needed. My Honda Silverwing FSC600 needed service at 7,000 miles and I found MotoMedic based on the Yelp reviews. I took it in for an oil and filter change, new rear tire, and had Chris install my aftermarket windshield made by Madstad Engineering. He also checked my coolant and brake fluid levels as well as the quality of the coolant and brake fluid. He took the time to show me how to properly check the oil level with the bike vertical and not on it's side stand. As a first time customer at MotoMedic, I am very pleased with the service. I took in my well cared for dl650 for tires & chain and brought home a new bike. Chris noticed a few things and fixed them such as brakes & sticky brake calipers. I recently got a used Yamaha XT250 Dual Sport after being away for motorcycle for 30 years. I was referred to Chris at MotoMedic by Cycle Gear. I am so glad I was. Bought a Yamaha R3 back in October 2015 & have put only 1800 miles on her. 2 weeks back my very first motorcycle got rear ended. Happened over the weekend so besides calling in an insurance claim I couldn't do much in the realm of starting on repairs. The damage was all cosmetic so I was able to get her home & stowed away until I could call a shop. As I was shopping around for a motorcycle mechanic on Monday, I found that a majority of them in & around Santa Rosa are closed on Mondays. I finally found the MotoMedic, placed a call & got voicemail but Chris called me within minutes of me leaving the message. I informed Chris what had happened & that I wanted to drop off my R3 that very same day. Chris closes shop @ 5pm & I usually get home from work around 4:30, the second I got home I hopped on the R3 & made it to the MotoMedic within minutes of Chris closing up shop. He went over exactly what the repair process would be & not only that he waited until my ride came to pick me up which was around almost 6pm. Chris is very accommodating with his service & kept me updated every step of the way. Always kept me in the loop of what was going to be done to the R3. Chris also made it extremely easy to deal with State Farm & the claim process. Got the R3 back a couple days ago & she's good as new. I can 100% say that all of the other review hold up. Hands down you will not find someone more customer service oriented, personable, and straight up than Chris. I recently got a new (used) bike that had a couple weird things come up after I got it. So did my research and made the decision to bring it to Chris. When i got there I was pretty much like one of the people in the mechanic commercials where I'm making weird noises and using my hands a lot to explain what was happening. Chris had ALOT of good insights and once I dropped it off with him I felt comfortable and knew my bike was in good hands. Heard from him later on with an update on his findings and suggestions he had on what should be done and what could wait, didn't feel pressured what so ever or feel like he was trying to milk some extra money (you know that feeling you get). This review is for an excellent and honest consultation rather than actual service. My bike is an ancient beast of a sportbike with serious personality issues. It experienced what we might label a catastrophic electrical system failure on a short road trip. Chris assessed the situation and clearly laid out his concerns that the work ahead may exceed the actual value of said ancient beast. We discussed the finer points and decided to hold off. It was excellent to have an intelligent, honest and clearly very skilled mechanic take the time to work out that decision with me instead of diving right in and asking me to open a blank check that could have been in vain. We called Chris at MotoMedic the day before we were looking at a Vespa we had hoped to purchase. We wanted to get inspection rates and we really had no idea what to look for. Not only did Chris give us a super reasonable rate quote, he spent several minutes walking us through the things we should look for and test when checking the Vespa out. If that wasn't great enough, when we arrived for the inspection the next day, he provided the inspection for less than quoted and gave us a hands on lesson about everything we needed to know about taking care of our Vespa.
