Purchased at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, tasty and they were able to add a little extra spice Channa Masala vegan

I had Dhaba at St Joe's hospital one day and for a "fast food" style way of serving in the cafeteria it was tasty and even a little spicy! I can't wait to try them at their brick and mortar.

They are inside of a gas station. Small place. No dine-in at all. Big kitchen. We ordered the aloo gobi, butter chicken, dal makhani and Chana masala. I am bummed they don't have any Dosa or bhindi masala at all, two items that make our Indian meal complete. Limited menu due to its size, most likely. $42 total. They have been here for 7 years. Super friendly family that runs it. Food would take about 10-15 minutes to make it for us. The owner gave me a little ramekin of pickled vegetables with her meal. She let me know that there was no wheat in it at all. A couple of the other people waiting here said the food was good. That's why you never know where the good foods are located. Kept an open mind. The food was stacked in the paper bag and in a second plastic bag. Each of the Styrofoam containers were wrapped with foil wrapping too. All of the food was still hot after a 25 minute drive home. The lentils are good. I forgot to ask for all of the dishes to be medium spice. They must've just made it a regular or mild spice instead. The Channa masala is good. I can taste bits of fresh ginger in it and it has good flavoring to it. The Dal Makani is good. It's chock full of little pieces of brown lentil in it. It's quite tasty. The aloo gobi has lots of potatoes in it, it has so much more potatoes than cauliflower, that's a good thing. It's quite good as well. Not super saucy, more of a dry sauce. The butter chicken is super creamy. It's more creamy than it is sweet or spicy. It's not bad, too milky and creamy for my taste though. The service here is good. Food was also good as well.

I have mixed feelings about Dhaba Indian Kitchen and I think the 3 star rating is appropriate here... At a high level, I went into the restaurant expecting great value while in a modest package (especially since everyone called back to the roots of this style of restaurant). I think they deliver on the experience of finding good tasting food in an unexpected location... but I'm afraid that might be extent of it. From a pragmatic perspective, Dhaba Indian Kitchen makes it easy to order and pick up food (online ordering is available, and there's an easy way to pick up once you enter the storefront -- definitely appreciated during the pandemic. The value proposition is what gets me. The taste of the food is solid, but not amazing... From my perspective, there are 3 elements that you can tweak here: taste, appeal, and price. In my experience so far, Dhaba provides decent taste, but too much of the appeal leans on how the restaurant is presented, and the prices are too high for just decent food. I'd expect either amazing food for this kind of price, or a lower price showing this as a value option. As it stands, it's just not a compelling choice among the numerous Indian takeout options in the area.

You wrote a review for Dhaba Indian Kitchen 2 minutes ago 2/28/2021 Dhaba Indian Kitchen is a hidden gem located inside of the BP Gas Station. Our friends told us about this place and we had to try it! We ordered samosas, naan, Kadai lamb, and Baingan Bharta. You can order the food mild, medium, or hot. We selected medium all around and it was pretty spicy! The two entrees came with rice. Overall, it was a lot of food for two but we ate it all because it was so tasty! We look forward to ordering Dhaba again!

    Garlic Naan

Standard Indian fare with kind and quick service. Garlic naan is perfect. Chicken in the tikka masala is a little firm (normally tikka masala chicken is incredibly tender), but the sauce is tasty and onion-forward. Amount of food is about average for the price in town. Would recommend to anyone looking to fill an Indian food craving.

Chicken Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta
    Kirsten K.

Got via grub hub and food was delivered right on time and correctly. Rice was aromatic and delicious. Chicken tikka masala has veggies in it which was nice but wish it was a bit spicier (I ordered medium, will go with hot next time). Malai kofta was good and big portion with 6 balls. Naan was tasty but not the best I've had. May be partially due to delivery time. Overall a solid place for Punjabi takeout!! Will definitely order again.

Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend considering other venues. We hosted my sister's jago party here. During the venue selection process, Punjab initially offered us a flat food rate and stated that alcohol pricing would be state minimum plus $10. After we explored other venues, they agreed to reduce it to state minimum plus $5. We also specifically discussed timing, and were told we could stay as late as needed because "they understand how Punjabi parties go." However, just a few days before the event, I requested the finalized alcohol pricing and was shocked to see it was nearly triple the state minimum pricing we had discussed. At the same time, we were suddenly informed of food service timing restrictions and told the kitchen would close at 10 PM. None of this had been clearly communicated upfront, and there was never a reasonable explanation for the pricing change. Unfortunately, the issues continued on the day of the event: * The bathrooms were dirty, had no soap in the dispensers, and several stalls did not have functioning locks. * Appetizers were served about 20 minutes late and then picked up early. * Service staff were rude to guests and even attempted to charge guests for ginger ale. * Staff attempted to stop dinner service at 10 PM, and our family had to intervene to keep food available for guests. The constant last-minute changes and lack of professionalism made what should have been a joyful celebration unnecessarily stressful. We are a family of professionals, and this is simply not how business should be conducted.

I got there around 1:20 and they closed the buffet right at 2 - clearly eager to get out of there. The selection was good: I liked the fact that they had a standard green salad. I had some tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, butter paneer, and naan. I also tried bites of the aloo gobi and some vegan dish that I can't remember the name of but it was basically cauliflower and potatoes. I was a little disappointed in the dessert selection; I love gulab jamun and was hoping they would have it but all they had was a mango custard (it was good but I wanted something sweeter). All of the food was good bordering on great; my standards for Indian food are pretty high and this place met them. I thought the spice level was good - not horribly spicy but definitely had a kick to some dishes. Would have been nice to have a lamb dish but understand they have to cater to vegetarians too. The place itself is nice although the lighting was a little dark in my opinion. They were great about refilling water, clearing plates, and checking in. Bathrooms were clean and nice. Would return!

Order at the counter or they will take your order at the table. We got a small cup of complementary veggie soup. We ordered Gobi Manchurian, lollipop chicken, dry, butter chicken, Chana masala. All spicy level, which is medium+ spicy. They are out of Dal Tadka today. :/ $58.82 Our waitress made sure to check our order and our spice level. The soup is watery, oily, nice and spicy. It's surprisingly refreshing and good. The Gobi has decent flavor, just slightly spicy, not crispy. The lollipop chicken was too gristly and fatty for my tastes. My husband ate the rest. I was done with the chicken. I didn't mind the cabbage, cilantro, carrot and red onion slaw that was the bedding of the lollipop chicken. The butter chicken sauce is okay, the chicken itself is overcooked. I had a few harder, chewy piece in my portion. The Chana masala is good, that was my favorite dish out of everything we ate tonight. Upon our receipt of the bill, I was bit bothered to be informed then that they would give us an 8% discount if we use cash. Would have been better to mention that ahead of our order, no? For this and all of our entrees, we were able to select a spice level, as well, which is good because I can only handle mild spice. -Butter paneer: also delicious. -Chicken Tikka masala: very good, although I'm not a fan of when Indian places include veggies in these types of dishes. -2 orders of garlic naan: very garlicky, buttery, and a bit thin. Delicious to sop up the sauce with. Portions were very large also, the sauce was literally overflowing from the containers. As for pricing, it was a few dollars more than Aahar, also in Farmington and another of our go-to ordering places, but I feel like the portion sizes make it worth it. I usually order a mango lassi but since it was about $50+ for all that food, I did not, this time - hopefully next time. Overall everything was very tasty from here and hot and fresh, so I would order from here again.
