DiCamillo Bakery is where we had a surprisingly appealing biscotti. I say surprisingly because any time I'd ever had a biscotti in the past it was flavorless and dry. This was the same texture as far as it being crunchy, but it was a game changer. After tasting it, I actually ended up buying a box and looking forward to getting into it with a cup of coffee. We also ended up trying an oatmeal raisin and the chocolate chip cookie. Did not care for the oatmeal cookie and the chocolate chip cookie tasted stale. They have a different take on baked goods, more Italian type so I don't think it was actually stale thats just the closest illustration I can compare it to. Service was excellent and attentive. Ambiance is reflective of an preserved building. They still have the original door from the 1800's and have displayed the original 2lb key in bakery for those interested. Nothing like the smell you get when walking into a bakery. Personally, I'm more drawn to the smell of the fresh baked breads over the pastries. Walking into DiCamillio's during our visit to the Lewiston Garden Festival filled that need. The pastries, cakes, and cookies all looked devine, but we headed right for the bread. Came here after seeing them on PBS, to get biscotti. In addition to biscotti, they sell loaves of bread, and fresh items in the bakery case include pizzas, cookies, cake/cupcakes, and other types of desserts. Store was cute and well organized, and the service was quick and friendly. I'd love to some back soon. read more

A very nice shop with lots of pastries for sale. We decided on donuts that were reasonably priced with a wide selection. The girls here weren't overly friendly but they were efficient at what they did there, such as loading a box of donuts. I really liked the glazed sticks that had a bit of a lemon taste to them, as well as the creme filled donuts. There were lots of loaves of breads and rolls for sale, but no posted prices. I suggest they post the prices and then people like me would be more inclined to buy. Another suggestion is to get rid of all the fruit flies in the pastry cabinets. You folks are bakery professionals and should know how to get rid of them! read more

I have tried some different baked goods the last couple years from Di Camillo in Lewiston. Unfortunately I am usually disappointed. Today was no different. The donuts are small and not very flavorful. I had a chocolate frosted white cream. Very little inside. I got a cannolli in which the cream inside did not have a hint of ricotta. It was almost like a manufactured cream. I was surprised. I also got a butter tart which I have not tried yet. I am really hoping it is delicious. I hate to put this out there but with other bakery options in the area...this local chain just isn't doing it for me. DiCamillo Bakery in Lewiston has an old world charm. The building is very old and the esthetics have been saved giving your experience a feel of traveling to Italy. Well, that's the way it feels to me anyway. They offer baked goods like cookies, pastries and pies but the thing to get every time is the Italian bread. The large loaf goes quickly in my home. It's crispy crust and light interior with a flavor all it's own is good without anything on it.....just rip off a hunk and go at it. No matter how many times I try the bread I make never even comes close to what they produce at DiCamillo's. Just the smell in the store is intoxicating....fresh bread with the sweetness of the pastries....ahhh. There are two things that I see as a negative. In the summer I've seen flies in the display cases with the cookies and pizza....ugh. And they don't have the prices listed for most items. It would be good to know how much things are without having to ask. Not a big deal but a pet peeve. read more

They have everything you want - especially if what you want is a donut case FULL OF FRUIT FLIES all year long. Hard to enjoy a pastry when it's a safe assumption that it's full of fly eggs. Amazon sells fruit fly traps for $10 and there are dozens of other solutions; so obviously they don't care. FYI this location is only a sales counter and does not make or bake anything - so if you have the ability, drive to their actual bakery in niagara falls (about 15 minutes away) and you'll find a much, MUCH larger selection of considerably fresher items and bread. read more

Great bakery and with a charming location offering a wide variety of fresh homemade pizza by the slice, pasta sauces, jams, local handmade chocolates and tarts, pies, breads, and cookies! The place was jamming! Busy. We purchased cream donuts, lemon, and cherry tarts. I bought items made locally as well--sauces and Italian pasta. Everyone was pleasant and super friendly, and the little town is a slice of 1950s in Americana feel! I highly recommend this establishment. read more

Awesome Bakery. Placek sold all year, not just Easter! The Italian bread is great and freezes well. Ask for a freezer bag. Biscotti di Vinos (dry semi sweet cookie with sesame seeds) are my favorite. So good with coffee or tea. The Florence Lace is also a must have. Their cookie assortments are amazing. I can't think of anything to complain about here. read more

Mmm...Bread! I cant say enough about Di Camillos bakery. They have great buns that I love. Its a great place to go if your looking for a roll, to! My one complint is that the place smells alot like bread all the time. Maybe they should hang up some of those little Xmas trees? It would give the the place a nice minty smell which is a smell that I enjoy to smell. It makes me think of Gramma. She allways had a bowl of mint's by the front door in a bowl. read more

Lady that took my order was rude and seemed completely uninterested. They stop serving lunch at 3:00-we walked in at 3:03 and and were denied. Had no ice for iced beverages yet that was half of their menu. So instead I had to get a hot coffee which was SO HOT it burned my tongue and roof of my mouth which has now blistered over. I stopped in Di Camillo for the first time during the Lewiston Art Festival. It's definitely a cute place with a good variety of baked goods including breads and sweets, prepackaged gift items, small premade sandwiches, coffee, slices of tomato pie, etc. There is plenty to look at on the shelves and in the bakery cases. Lots of temptations! We had an opportunity to try some small samples of some of their most popular bakery items. I absolutely loved the almond biscotti sample. Unfortunately the biscotti was only available in a prepackaged containers - the smallest size at $7.99. Perhaps they normally sell it individually, but there was a lot of customer traffic due to the festival that day. Bummer. I opted for a Chinese sugar cookie and a peanut butter brownie wrapped to go. Less than $3!! I ate the cookie as we finished our walk around town. I was good, but not fantastic. Surprisingly my brownie made it all the way back to North Buffalo before I scarfed it down. It was a rich, moist and flavorful with walnuts mixed in and a peanut butter frosting piped on top. Both were good, but not knock-your-socks-off. It's fair to say that I had very high expectations of the infamous Di Camillo Bakery. Based on my small sampling, I don't think that I will feel compelled visit again - though it was a nice novelty while in the quaint town of Lewiston. read more

Stop it with this place!! Awww, man.. I grew up eating Di Camillo's Italian bread as my family is from Niagara Falls... the toast this bread makes is out of this world and my Grandma ALWAYS had it at her house. Grandma is gone now but ANY TIME I have a chance to be in the area I buy a loaf and freeze it.. it's not the same as Fresh bread but it's still good. This is the first time I've been in the Lewiston location and I was just over the top in love. It's in a building on Center st. That was built in 1821, it has gorgeous, creaky wood floors, the original hardware on the door and beautiful displays of all their baked goods.. endless deliciousness... I, of course, picked up a small sliced loaf of Italian bread but also my other fav... their pizza. Takes me right back to my childhood. Got three slices of the tomato pie and one of my other fav.. the broccoli and cheese. Di Camillos is a giant part of my childhood and obviously I'm sentimental about it but this location was just so... old school.. and gorgeous that it added to my love of it. People were wonderful, as I remember them... friendly and efficient, even on a busy Saturday morning. Craig got several different cookies and devoured them. There are so many different sweet treats there... buns, cookies, pastries... I couldn't keep track cuz I was so focused on my bread and pizza but U'd never be disappointed if ur looking for sweets. I showed up at 6 minutes before they were about to close. The man working had outstanding customer service and was as friendly as ever. I was hoping they would be open when I drove bye. The man working had recommendations, telling me certain items are a must have! Everything was delicious and I can honestly say I'll only get an experience like that at that specific bakery. The cookie was on the crunchy side and because I was expecting it to be chewy I was a bit disappointed. This orange ricotta thing was outstanding. Very flavorful and moist. The customer service needs improving. Three young adults were there working and they were way more interested in their own conversation than helping us as customers. I have never written a review before, but I just needed to pass this on to save a few people some wasted time and money. My wife and I decided to make a special trip out to Lewiston to get out of the house on a gloomy Saturday morning. We decided to stop at Di Camilo bakery for a couple of donuts and some coffee. I'm sorry to say that this was a waste of a trip from Lockport. We have stopped there in the past for some of their delicious bread and we should have done just that! The donut selection was sad. Not that they didn't have plenty of donuts, just that they only make a very small selection to choose from. After purchasing a dozen donuts and two cups of coffee, we sat down at one of the two very small tables to enjoy out treats. We decided to split a peanut donut log and drink our coffee before heading back home to share the donuts with our children. Little to say, the donut was bland and the coffee was barely warm. After arriving at home, our children each grabbed a donut to enjoy. The comments that we got back were inline with our own thoughts. The donuts are just OK at best. We still have half of the box left and will probably not finish them. It was very disappointing to say the least. We both agreed that it would be the last time that we purchase donuts from them again! read more
