I was lucky enough to work with Fairy Cakes on the desserts for my wedding and they did the most incredible job! Rather than one cake, we opted to do a "dessert room" where guests could pick their favorite treats. When I walked into that dessert room, it was heavenly! The photos attached show how beautiful the desserts looked, but they also smelled and tasted wonderful. Our guests were raving about them the whole night! Not only were the treats gorgeous and delicious, but Mo and her team were amazing to work with. They took time to learn about what we wanted and were extremely patient and understanding with us when we had to reschedule our event several times due to COVID. They even accommodated a few guests we had with dietary restrictions (Gluten-free, dairy-free) with adorable, individual boxes. They truly made our dreams come true and we're so grateful! read more

There were so many flavors to choose from and we got a sampling box prior to making decisions on flavors. We were able to select a variety of flavors for our guests which they loved. Fairy Cakes is a Parkside staple and their sweet treats never fail to brighten up even the dreariest of days. I finally got my hands on their Christmas Sampler Box and their Hot Cocoa Bombs, and oh baby! I may need to buy a size up in pants after this one. The sampler box was decedent and so sweetly decorated. It included macaroons, ornament cake pops (my fave!), cakesicles, dipped Oreos, classic cut outs, and dipped pieces of cake. My friends and I cut up most of the pieces so we could all try a little bit of everything. Everything was delicious and so beautifully decorated. I'm tempted to get another box before Christmas! The hot cocoa bombs are my latest winter obsession and their Grinch themed bomb made my heart grow three sizes The hot cocoa mix was wonderfully rich and the addition of melted chocolate made it a perfect cup of cocoa. Their online ordering system is convenient and accessible. I didn't stay to eat but the place looks so whimsical I'd love to take my kiddo here for some mommy and me time. Unfortunately, the store is not open on the day I need the cupcakes - I forgot to look at the hours, dang! There was not a large selection today but I was not going to leave without trying something so I got (what I thought) was the only red velvet cupcake left. I wanted to love this place. Nearby my house, carrying my favorite treat, what more could I ask for? Well, freshness and flavor for starters. I do admit to going there in the afternoon, never in the am, when perhaps they are fresher. But its cupcakes, for me an afternoon/evening treat. Perhaps they are sitting out so long they seem a little stale by the time I get them. Then, I have tried a few flavors, but none "hit the spot". Flavors don't seem to be rich enough, yet the frosting/icing is very sweet. Somehow so far none has been more than a 6 on a scale of 1-10. My cupcake companions have agreed with me, not the best cupcakes they have had. At $2.75-3.50 a "cup", they are not cheap (although compared to some others in town a "bargain"), yet they do seem more on the mass produced side than I would have expected. If I was rating just cupcakes, this would be a 3. However, I will give props to the simply lovely space you have created inside. It really is a warm nice place, and if I liked the cupcakes more I would move in. That space gets the rating an extra star. Its really terrific. read more

Picked up cupcakes for a shower, was difficult to find parking but a cute shop. Cupcakes were goods.

Confession first -- I'm NOT the person who has taste buds which can discern the hibiscus or the Peruvian purple potato notes in a cup of coffee. However, I can tell the difference between coffee and water. We live within in walking distance of Fairy Cakes and have eaten there several times. They produce good cupcakes... BUT don't expect the cupcakes to taste like anything, except chocolate or vanilla. The fanciful flavors describing the cupcakes have yet to exist any time we've eaten there. "Almond, Almond" should be an explosion of almond flavor --nothing resembling almond, maybe a mild vanilla. "Nutella chocolate" -- just chocolate. Pistachio -- just vanilla (or white, if that's a taste). I only buy high end cupcakes when they have a taste beyond vanilla and chocolate, but I guess the fairies steal all of those special flavors when the bakery closes at night and replace them with chocolate and vanilla. Nobody had the heart to let the bakery owners know until this review. read more

Such a cute little shop! I saw they won a cupcake challenge on the food network so I had to check them out. I have been eating healthier and decided that this would be a great cheat day dessert. I didn't sit down to eat since I was picking them up on my way home from work but I would consider that next time. It's very cute and chic. I had such a hard time deciding on which cupcake to choose I pretty much got one of each. I'm not sure which was my favorite because they were all so good! I had to try the brown sugar cake with sesame buttercream and sesame brittle because that was the winning cupcake on the food network. It didn't disappoint. I took pictures of all the cupcakes I tasted so check them out so you can know what you want when you visit! I recommend going with a friend or friends and buying a few and have a tasting party with them so you can have more than one without feeling super bad about yourself for eating 4 cupcakes. They are pricier than if you went to a bakery within a grocery store (around $3 a cupcake) but I feel that it's worth it and is a great way to treat yourself! read more

With all the times I've been to Delaware Park or the zoo, I can't believe it took a year and a half to try this place out. It's directly across from the zoo, and now I'm mourning the three or four other times I could have indulged in the past. The shop is small and cute. I was disappointed they didn't have chocolate with salted caramel frosting today because salted caramel is my favorite. However, the stout with Bailey's frosting is amazing. They are generous with the frosting, it had just the right amount of sweetness and the Irish cream flavor really came through. The stout cake was rich and moist. The cupcakes range from $2.75 to $3.50, which is actually cheaper than the cupcake shop I used to frequent in Boise, ID. You can also get day old cupcakes for $1.50. I got my sons day old chocolate cupcakes, and they loved them. They weren't dry or crumbly at all despite being a day old so they store them well enough to preserve the flavor and texture. Everyone loved the red velvet cupcakes I ordered as the cream cheese icing is tart and not overly sweet. Poptarts! You must try them! They will satisfy any childhood memory/craving you may have of these packaged pastries and leave you wanting more. The flavors range from the classics like Strawberry to ones you wish they had when you were a kid, like Kitchen Sink (stuffed with Oreos and Nutter Butters and topped with Reese). Each poptart is $3, which I feel is reasonable since most bakeries charge $2 for a cookie. Lastly they recommended eating them at room temperature. I would be willing to try them warmed up. Very glad to have found this place, which was hiding in plain sight on Parkside Ave across from the zoo. I drive by it every day to and from work, but have never noticed the small shop with a rather inconspicuous storefront. The piña colada cupcake sent me straight to the beach with the first whiff. Unfortunately, the cake didn't live up to the frosting, as it was a little on the dry side. For whatever reason, the salted caramel cupcake had no such problem. It was super moist...everything you would want from a cupcake. I personally prefer smaller cupcakes so that you can try a bunch of different flavors, but these ones were downright brobdingnagian...definitely the biggest I've ever seen from a boutique cupcake shop. The store is pretty, the cupcakes divine. I had "WIng Cake" chocolate with wing sauce. Kinda like Mexican chocolate, but not. This is magical - chocolate with heat! A very clean sensation. I often find Mexican chocolate muddy flavored. Not even a whiff of tomatoness that a person might suspect and fear would be in a such a thing as "Wing Cake." Usually I am not a fan of frosting, I'm there for the cake, but the vanilla buttercream frosting doused the heat perfectly. I love Fairy Cakes. I stumbled across them years ago at a bridal show of all places. They have a great variety of cake and frosting flavors. I stopped in the other day and bought an almond cake with raspberry frosting. It was of course delicious. I had every intention of taking a picture to go with this review, but completely forgot. I assure you, it looked beautiful. They offer delivery which is a nice surprise for any event when you may otherwise sent flowers. I have been here but not in some time. Went in today for birthday cupcakes. I forgot how adorable it is in there. It's welcoming and of course, smells delightful. The young lady who works there was helpful and happy. We got a chocolate chip cookie dough, a chocolate with oreo cookie frosting,and a peanut butter, banana and blueberry cupcake. Unbelievable experience today. We had my daughters 4th birthday party in the bakery and it was beyond expectations. The staff not only provided excellent attention and customer service, but we found out they were prepping two weddings for that evening as well. They asked us what kinda theme we wanted and came through with some unicorn themed cupcakes. From start to finish, they never left us waiting for the next thing. Always on top of things. They kept us hydrated with juice boxes, waters and coffees. We will certainly be back for a cupcake in the future and will tell everyone about our experience. Yum. I pre ordered two dozen fairy funfetti mini cupcakes. Super easy ordering process and everything was exactly as I wanted it when I went in to pick them up. We were able to enjoy them after dinner and every agreed the cake was .... yes, I'll say it... moist and the icing was sweet but not overly sugary. They don't recommend you refrigerate them and that's important because if you get them too cold the frosting becomes crunchy! Too bad it was 90 degrees out the weekend I picked them up! We loved these cupcakes so much that we are having them for our wedding reception. About 5 years ago, I was working a Canisius Camp, when one of the other coaches brought us cupcakes from his daughter (fairy cakes). I don't even remember which flavor I had,but it was incredible! Rewind to 2015 when my fiancé and I are in Buffalo and we are trying to figure out what to do for a wedding cake. One of our friends advised that we taste some cupcakes, so we go to the store front and try a cupcake. Unfortunately, but fortunately, we went with my cousins and parents, so we ended up getting almost every flavor. WOW! Best cupcakes we have ever had, better than Crumbs(R.I.P) or DC cupcakes. Some reviews complained about the cakes because it has more of a muffin texture, but it is necessary to offset the flavor of the frosting, and this in fact works really well. We loved the chocolate chip cookie dough so much that we are having a round for the wedding with that flavor inside the cake along with a decorated vanilla frosting. Surprisingly, the mini cupcakes with the round was a much more affordable price than a cake at Dessert Deli. Lastly, Mo Torpey the owner, was such a pleasure to work with. Went to the zoo with Bradley on Sunday. As we were walking back to the car we ran into Fairy Cakes Cupcakery. I have heard of the bakery before, but have no idea where it was located. Until now. We walked in and first thing I noticed was how cute the decorations were! People on Yelp have complained that it looks like a little girl's room. I think that was the point! With a name like "Fairy Cakes" it HAS to look like a little girl's room! I ordered the Red Velvet cupcake and Brad orders one with blueberries and a bacon flavored frosting. We pretended to be judges from our favorite TV show, Cupcake Wars. I know those judges hate when people make Red Velvet, but I loved it. I had the best cream cheese frosting ever! The cake was very moist and delicious. I had a bite of Brads as well. While I am not a fan of blueberries, I thought it, too, was delicious. I loved the bacon frosting. We finished our cupcakes and I wanted to try another one. We got the dark chocolate with mint frosting to go. While our cupcakes was getting wrapped up, we had a chance to talk to the baker. She told us about all the different kinds they had and what sells the fastest. I definitely want to try their cookie dough or grasshopper next time. This was my first time ordering from fairy cakes... The cupcakes were truly delicious but pretty pricey! I ordered a dozen mini fairy-fetti cupcakes and a dozen devils food cake with Oreo butter cream cupcakes. So 24 mini cupcakes (like 2 bites a piece) for I think $46. So almost 2 bucks a piece! I feel like that is a lot for mini cupcakes but when all is said and done they were a total hit and very tasty. I liked the Oreo butter cream frosting on the devils food cake... soooooo yummy! I ordered around 30 Cupcakes for my baby's 1st birthday. The cupcakes were a bit expensive, around $75 with tax. I ordered vanilla, chocolate and coconut and they were made with same frosting, vanilla with vanilla etc, I wants my given a choice as to frosting flavor. The cupcakes didn't stay "together". The chocolate crumbles into many separate pieces, the vanilla were very dense, like a muffin. Frosting was OK. I make fancy cupcakes myself and I will probably bake my own next time as they didn't taste fresh. They may have made them at least 2 days before. Many cupcakes left over which usually isn't the case if I bake them! Overall they were a 6 on a 10 scale. Friendly staff and smells delicious inside. read more

Yum! So a friend had mentioned this place in passing and we were driving home having been out to lunch already but were craving a bit of dessert and thought why not stop in. It's right on my fiancé way home every day but somehow he had never noticed it before! The counter had a nice variety of options but I was immediately drawn to two options the pina colada and the sea salt caramel/chocolate. I told the fiancé to decide and in a bold move he decided both! In the end we ate the pina colada one there and took the caramel one to go ( tho I snuck in a bite of it before we tucked it away). The pina colada was so flavorful it was crazy, the only sight problem was that the actual cake was a bit dry. The chocolate one on the other had was so moist and so deeeeply chocolatey it was absolutely fantastic. This is a decent cupcake place in a good location right across the street from the zoo. I was expecting just a counter (a la zillycakes) but discovered a very welcoming spot to sit an relax. I am not sure that I would actually come here to sit though because the only thing they have is coffee and cupcakes... I just don't want cupcakes often enough. Like many others, I went here because I had a groupon. When I arrived at a 2pm on a Wednesday, there was a large variety of cupcakes remaining but not that many in number. We giggled like little girls as we got to pick out 12 different amazing looking cupcakes. I was particularly taken with the "daily dip" -- a cupcake that they then dip in chocolate and I liked the peanut butter ones (SigO was not a fan of the PB -- too rich sez he). SigO thought the red velvet was the best because of the cream cheese frosting and he liked the pumpkin ones too. We have also had cupcakes from here at a friends' house and therefore have tried many kinds. Everyone I have had these cupcakes with seems to agree that the frosting is just too rich and intense. The frosting is over 1/2 the cupcake and it is dense. It also means that it is hard to eat a whole cupcake by yourself.. which is good because at $3 a pop they get pricey. I recommend getting a few and cutting them in 1/2s or 1/4s so you can try different flavors. read more

They've been a "Downtown Farmer's Market" favorite for a long time. But (YAY!) now they have a real store. Now I can get a delicious cupcake any time I want one.
