We tasted the mini apple pie thingy at The Village Bake Shoppe. It was delicious! Loaded with fresh apples. Not too sweet. Reminded me of the love placed in homemade foods. They had a great variety of bake goods like cakes to go, cookies, pies, cup cakes, cannoli. They also sold candles and olive oil. We ordered a chocolate cupcake, which was delicious. The cake was tender and rich. The frosting was a little heavy but had great flavor. The place is really cute, and there's a huge selection of a variety of baked goods as well as coffee. We were helped quickly and efficiently by a very friendly employee. Coming back to revise this review. We also ordered a piece of broccoli cheddar quiche and a piece of spinach pepperjack quiche to eat for dinner and an apple square for breakfast. The quiche was good, though a bit bland. The apple square was excellent: not too sweet, lots of apple flavor. It was a hefty $65 for a 9 inch cake but when I picked it up and tasted it, I knew it was worth every penny. I ordered a white cake with raspberry jam. The cake was very moist. The cake was also very THICK with three layers. After we cut the cake, the remaining cake did topple over because it was so thick. But honestly, that isn't something to complain about. My selections were strawberry cake pop, and lemon mergine pie. Both were worth the money for a treat. The strawberry cake pop was thick, soft, right amount of cake batter and strawberry taste. The lemon mergine texture was well blended with the right amount of lemon zest/ tart ratio. The lemon taste was phenomenal,real, and authentic, not like the grocery stores version. Now onto the cake, this was by far one of the worst cakes I have ever tasted left a bad taste in your mouth and nobody wanted to eat it, and what's even worse is he will never be one again and the cake was awful. It cannot be replayed ever the pictures show what a crap amateur job. These people did for my grandson's first birthday cake. I custom ordered a birthday cake on the 15th for pickup the 29th I sent over a design for inspiration (attached). The cake i received was not what I expected. It was a completely plain with just writing and letters, all piped on. I totally get things happen, but, when I sent an email I was told the following: "Hi Dan, We are so sorry that you were disappointed in the design of the cake. Unfortunately, are head decorator has been stuck due to the storm. So we were unable to do the fondant buttons which would have cost an additional $20. We will definitely take care of you next time. Again, so sorry for missing the mark on this cake." for $70 I would have expected something that was more visually pleasing, frankly a cake from Tops would have looked better. I have no doubts the cake will taste lovely, but, had I known such little effort would be expended I would not have ordered it custom. If the decorator was out it's entirely understandable but that should have been communicated so I had the option to go a different route. A gentleman next to me picked up a beautiful cake for 45 dollars. It's clear that they did not put any time or effort into this cake. I've frequented the Shoppe (and even ordered a lovely themed cake in the past so I expected something similar, this was nothing like that. I can't say enough with how pleased my wife and I are with Lindsay and the team at The Village Bake Shoppe! We were recommended to try them out for our wedding cake and we are so glad that we did! Lindsay was very nice to work with and made sure our cake was exactly what we were looking for! The cake tasting was also a lot of fun and showcased the variety of amazing flavors they have to offer! Even though they are in Lewiston, many restaurants serve village Bake Shoppe's desserts. Thank goodness for that because they are so good! We always get their Oblivion cake because it's one of the best tasting GLUTEN FREE chocolate desserts in WNY. I like their mini apple pie. They have a fancier name for it lol but whatever you wanna call it, it goes great with an ice cold quart of milk! :) If you find yourself in Lewiston, definitely come here. There are many good looking goodies calling out to be purchased. Some are in refrigerated display cases and some are just in a "protective" display case. Cookies and pies and eclairs, oh my. There are no prices listed in the display cases or up on the wall behind the counter which also offers coffees and some lunch options. I picked an eclair. I asked what the filling was, but with masks on, it was difficult to hear what was inside. It turned out to be chocolate pudding. Luckily we ate it after we got back home as it is very full. It was a very good eclair, and being as I love chocolate, it was a nice surprise to discover a chocolate filling instead of the usual custard. My son's birthday cake was one of the absolute worst cakes I've ever eaten. My wife, through emails with the baking coordinator made sure every detail was covered as to what to do with the cake and it was all agreed upon... the cake didn't even say HAPPY BIRTHDAY on it several details missing and when we called to see if they could do anything last second such as write happy birthday they said "no manger was in we're sorry we close in 10 minutes" well you should have pulled some OT because you messed up on a very expensive cake that was placed for well over a week. All of this could have been overlooked and I genuinely mean that if the cake tasted good but it was one of the worst tasting cakes I've ever had and everyone at the party agreed. I really need to shout out The Village Bake Shoppe AGAIN! My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from them and it was absolutely delicious. When we ordered, Lindsay let us know that for our first anniversary, they would make us a free mini version of our cake. My husband and I live in NYC, so we couldn't make it up there for our anniversary. We had a last-minute trip up to Buffalo last weekend, so I figured I'd call the bakery to see if they'd be able to make it for us. To my surprise, they were able to have it ready for us Labor Day and we picked it up. The anniversary cake was absolutely stunning - it's a real version of our actual wedding cake with flavors and all.
