Ordered a cake with Calista after emailing all the details. The cake was missing an important number that I requested to be added to the cake. I texted her and never heard back. Not even "I'm sorry". It's just a translation and hopefully they get it right, because if they don't, it's on you . Response: I have called the store two weeks in advanced to ask how much notice do they need to custom make a cake and I was told 3-4 days. I was also given the business card that had the cell phone number on it. This doesn't make it an exception it makes it the official number. I've mostly had their cakes and cupcakes and they are sooo delicious! The last time I was here, I ordered a birthday cake for my friend. It was a hefty $65 for a 9 inch cake but when I picked it up and tasted it, I knew it was worth every penny. I ordered a white cake with raspberry jam. The cake was very moist. The cake was also very THICK with three layers. After we cut the cake, the remaining cake did topple over because it was so thick. But honestly, that isn't something to complain about. My Grandson turned one on Sunday. His grandma and mother ordered a specialty cake with precise instructions. None of which were followed. They did not open the cake until they got home. I custom ordered a birthday cake on the 15th for pickup the 29th I sent over a design for inspiration (attached). The cake i received was not what I expected. It was a completely plain with just writing and letters, all piped on. I totally get things happen, but, when I sent an email I was told the following: "Hi Dan, We are so sorry that you were disappointed in the design of the cake. Unfortunately, are head decorator has been stuck due to the storm. So we were unable to do the fondant buttons which would have cost an additional $20. We will definitely take care of you next time. Again, so sorry for missing the mark on this cake." for $70 I would have expected something that was more visually pleasing, frankly a cake from Tops would have looked better. I have no doubts the cake will taste lovely, but, had I known such little effort would be expended I would not have ordered it custom. If the decorator was out it's entirely understandable but that should have been communicated so I had the option to go a different route. A gentleman next to me picked up a beautiful cake for 45 dollars. It's clear that they did not put any time or effort into this cake. I've frequented the Shoppe (and even ordered a lovely themed cake in the past so I expected something similar, this was nothing like that. I can't say enough with how pleased my wife and I are with Lindsay and the team at The Village Bake Shoppe! We were recommended to try them out for our wedding cake and we are so glad that we did! Even though they are in Lewiston, many restaurants serve village Bake Shoppe's desserts. Thank goodness for that because they are so good! We always get their Oblivion cake because it's one of the best tasting GLUTEN FREE chocolate desserts in WNY. I like their mini apple pie. They have a fancier name for it lol but whatever you wanna call it, it goes great with an ice cold quart of milk! :) If you find yourself in Lewiston, definitely come here. I really need to shout out The Village Bake Shoppe AGAIN! My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from them and it was absolutely delicious. When we ordered, Lindsay let us know that for our first anniversary, they would make us a free mini version of our cake. My husband and I live in NYC, so we couldn't make it up there for our anniversary. We had a last-minute trip up to Buffalo last weekend, so I figured I'd call the bakery to see if they'd be able to make it for us. To my surprise, they were able to have it ready for us Labor Day and we picked it up. The anniversary cake was absolutely stunning - it's a real version of our actual wedding cake with flavors and all. There are many good looking goodies calling out to be purchased. Some are in refrigerated display cases and some are just in a "protective" display case. Cookies and pies and eclairs, oh my. There are no prices listed in the display cases or up on the wall behind the counter which also offers coffees and some lunch options. I picked an eclair. I asked what the filling was, but with masks on, it was difficult to hear what was inside. It turned out to be chocolate pudding. Luckily we ate it after we got back home as it is very full. It was a very good eclair, and being as I love chocolate, it was a nice surprise to discover a chocolate filling instead of the usual custard. We are regular customers at VBS. We are Happy with the Service we get. We always order the same foods. The Question is how Fresh is their Food. I always see the same foods in their Showcases and I never see a Discount rack for the food from the day before, like Dicamillos has. Their Prices are High, so that limits us in how much we buy there. And I understand they are a small business, but it would be nice if they accepted Food Stamps for those of us who received them. I do know someone who has gotten Food Poisoning from a Cookie they had from VBS, so I hope they only put out Fresh Food for their Customers. read more

It was the worth the idyllic drive on a crisp autumn afternoon. The location feels like something ripped from one of those cheesy but endearing Hallmark movies. The entire street is lined with cute little shops and other things, and if I had more time, I would have stopped in a few of them. But my mission was the check out the bakery. It was a bit busy, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and their goodies. But they have taken precautions to meet COVID restrictions. It was a bunch of teenagers working the counter, but everyone was friendly and helpful. There were so many baked goods, I didn't know what to settle on. I got a couple of pecan bars, thd monster cookies, a lemon square, and some cinnamon cake something. Oh, and a piece of red velvet cheesecake for my little brother. The cookies were delicious, although I personally would have preferred them a bit softer. They had chocolate chips and coconut in them. Right up my alley. The lemon bar was just tart enough, and it's so rich that a square is more than enough. The pecan bars were a bit harder, and I couldn't tell if it was because they were cold or because they were a bit stale. They didn't taste bad though. And the red velvet cheesecake was a bit on the dry side. But it was a nice portion. The prices are reasonable, and the location is great.
