The name of the restaurant was in sideways vertical lettering on the building face. Making my way in the entrance, a host greeted me and took me to an open table. The dinner rush at that time was small, and I looked over the menu. I went with fried haddock, hand-cut baked/fried chips, small white orbs of pickled onions, and tartar sauce. For my beverage I went with water with lemon in it. Prices were excellent (for example the pickled onions were less than one pound) and the servings were very large, I was happy I was hungry. The fish was perfectly flaky and fried to a golden perfection. The tartar sauce was thick and flavorful and the fries not too crispy nor soggy. They were especially good dipped in the tartar sauce. The restrooms were marked by gender - male and female. I felt more at home with those terms than I did the terms man and woman used back in the United States of America. Found it as a form of confidence builder as a female solo traveler that night. It was still light out when I left and I felt safe walking back out through the alley and to my hotel.

They offered a unique twist on the traditional pizza, with the meat adding a salty flavour that complemented the green toppings. We also noticed a chilli olive oil on the side, and adding it to the pizzas took them to the next level. It added a whole new layer of flavour that made it the best pizza I've ever had. Glaswegians, your cafes have definitely spoiled me and I can't find anything that compares to this in the U.S. When you walk in, you automatically get this cozy and warm feeling. Try to get a seat in the upstairs dining area, because this is where you will feel the most warmth. I also like sitting in the bar stools by the window because I like looking outside at the rain. If you find yourself waiting for a table, just take that time to browse the pastries, savory foods laid out, and even their selection of cookbooks. Their selection of cake and tarts change daily, but if they have leftovers one day then they serve the leftovers the next day until they are gone, but a lot of the time their pastries sell out on the first day. The Mint tea is served in a clear glass, but it comes hot (which was weird because I didn't think you would serve hot drinks in a glass) but I understood why because it has a bunch of mint leaves in it that changes the color of the drink to a light tan. It's cute and if you have a sore throat, it will make you feel better. Other things that I have tried and loved were the Warm Waffle (because it was served with syrup and fresh fruit), the French Lemonade (It was pink lemonade with a little bit of sourness), and the macarons (They make different ones each week. Try all of them because they go fast! I have to say during Christmas time their Christmas pudding one tastes pretty good, too.) Last thing to note is that the staff is very nice. It was massive slices of crusty bread toasted, it was impossible for me to eat so unfortunately I had to abandon. I got a real surprise moment with my tea as it was really sweet and I don't like sweet tea, I had double check if someone had snuck in sugar. I was then reminded we're in a vegan restaurant so no milk, soya only. Ahhhh! So overall it was an interesting experience, and that's not mentioning the banter. We ordered Iberico croquettes that were good (of course not as good as Spain). Crust was flavorful and heavy on the cream to jamon ratio. Jamon Iberico was good, sourdough of course is not authentic to the Spanish cuisine, but it was still tasty bread. We ordered the Galician sirloin and it was really good. If you are a real steak lover, probably go for their prime rib. I like my steak a little less fatty. Their cheesy cauliflower was rich and tasty and their tomato salad was just whatever, but it was good tomatoes. This was still one of my better meals here in Scotland.

After she struggled with the till I eventually got my money back. She apologised and said my chips would be with me soon. So after 45 minutes I eventually got my bowl of chips. The girl fortunately came over and gave me my money back. The last time they didn't charge us because the food was awful. So I started tucking in, as I was starving, and accompanied with my chips was mayonnaise. I thought everything was ok but before I finished I developed a very sore stomach thereafter I became extremely ill. I became very familiar with the toilet after several visits. The toliet was awful which didn't help. On one occassion the only cubicle that was available didn't have a light and no light could get in as there was no usual gap at either top or bottom of the door. Argh! After my two bad experiences I don't think I'll be in a hurry to come back. Sadly I had to cut the night short, miss out on the rest of the quiz and just get home to my bed. I had the special pizza that had the haggis , onion and goats cheese. For me the pizza tasted like crunchy flatbread a pizza should be soft doughy full of flavour sadly that day may have been an off day but wasn't for me. There was a condiment set on the table and noticed that even though the jar was full nothing would come out as the wrong pepper was placed in the shaker, the holes was too small. Good for drinks yes! Food mmmmm! if you take grandma make sure she has used poligrip as that pizza is hard as nails.
