Instead, we were met with shocking negligence. The embalming was done incorrectly, and at his funeral there were flies on his body and a foul odor so strong that even masks couldn't block it. Guests were visibly uncomfortable and left questioning the care he received. Afterward, the funeral home admitted the embalmer hadn't done the job correctly and that my brother still needed more time to be prepared -- yet they never told us beforehand. This robbed us of leaving our last memory with him in peace, turning it into something even more painful and traumatic. This was more than a mistake; it was a profound failure to treat a human being with the basic dignity he deserved. The details of my situation were not normal, and they were able to handle additional complications professionally while maintaining my father's dignity.
