Walking into Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs feels a little like stepping into South Florida hockey history. Sure, the Florida Panthers no longer use this as their primary practice facility, but let's not overlook the fact that this building was literally designed to train a professional hockey team... a Stanley Cup-winning one at that. That alone gives the place some cool factor. The facility has three professional-sized rinks, the ice itself is very well maintained, and there's constantly something happening here. Beer leagues for just about every skill level, kids learning to skate, public skate sessions, hockey parents living exclusively on caffeine and hope... it's got that lively community rink atmosphere that makes places like this fun even if you're just there to watch. In my case, I was there to bring my grandsons to see their dad play hockey for the first time, which already made the experience special before we even stepped inside. And honestly, the staff helped make it even better. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and genuinely helpful. Since the place has multiple rinks running simultaneously, I needed help figuring out where we were supposed to be, and the staff guided us without making me feel like I'd wandered into the NHL combine by mistake. Then came my favorite moment. I ordered chicken nuggets during the game, and instead of making me stand around waiting and risk missing part of my son's game, one of the staff members actually brought the order over to me. That's the kind of small gesture people remember. The overall atmosphere here is friendly, welcoming, and very community-oriented. The building itself is clean and well-kept, even if it's starting to show its age a little compared to the Panthers' newer and shinier facilities elsewhere. Is it the fanciest rink complex ever built? No. But honestly, that's part of the charm. It feels authentic. Functional. Comfortable. Like a real hockey rink instead of a corporate showroom that just happens to have ice in it. Four stars (maybe because I'm a longtime Panthers fanatic?). Easy venue to find just off the Sawgrass Expressway on Sample Road. It is inside of the Sportsplex at Coral Springs with a huge free parking lot. Came here with my wife to sit at the upstairs bar called Panthers Point to have a beer and watch the pros, figure skating and hockey league camp in action but sadly was closed so had to watch from the lower level. My son plays here in the adult league at night. It was pretty exciting knowing that the Florida Panthers actually practice here. The other side of the den was ice skating open to the public for $24.00 with an optional $6.00 skate rental. In order to skate, they provide a digital QR Code to scan and create a Daysmart account with a digital waiver to sign. It was actually very cold walking around and not even on the ice. Basic food and drinks are offered at the snack bar near the entrance. Fun place to skate or just relax and watch the skaters in action on the ice. The figure skating coaches include some retired Olympians, and hockey is busy on the rinks, too. Very enthusiastic club, and they work well for competitions. Panthers Ice Den is a bustling three-sheet ice rink with a bar and restaurant upstairs that overlooks their Stadium Rink, and a snack bar downstairs. They offer public skating on their Olympic-sized rink (check their schedule for details) and have kid-sized plastic dolphins (to push along the ice) for rent that little ones who can't yet skate unassisted can use. I was here visiting for the weekend for a hockey tournament. The staff at the upstairs bar and first floor snack bar were attentive and courteous. This is a public ice skating venue with mostly high school, travel and college hockey sporting events although they do offer open-skate events. I am a frequent visitor here at the ice den due to my son playing hockey. On the evening of 2/3/24 I was watching my son play a game. As I was watching the game I had a few college age employees around me talking about inappropriate subject, such as how white people are so dumb and only get into college because of money, how whites women are the ugliest race of women, how white men don't even like white women and basically how much white women are ugly. I spoke with who I think was the manager that night about my concerns. All i received was rude behavior from her. She seemed to agree with these young college kids working at the ice den. It saddens me that such a great ambiance that the ice den offers can be ruined by the employees of that night. I hope you can do better ice den management. I was here last week for my kids skating class. Apparently she loves it and looks forward to going back every week. This rink is located at the west end of Sample Road in Coral Spring our by the Sawgrass Expresses Way. They have three rinks, one is used for actual hockey games and the other two are for practicing and special events. They have plenty of parking, two food concession stands and upstairs they have a bar that overlooks the main hockey arena. You can rent skates if you don't have or bring your own. read more

The best hockey I have seen in a while, wasn't down the street with the big NHL team. It was my friends team, playing at the Panthers Ice Den. The other day, a Sunday after watching the Panthers play the night before, I caught a few friends play a game at the Ice Den. We came in ready for the cold, a little. I had shorts on and immediately regretted that Florida-esque decision. It was chilly. But the good news was that once we fond which of the 3 rinks our friends were playing on it was the one with an elevated viewing area that was warmer and had a full bar. It was a blessing, as the other 2 rinks didn't have this hook up. And it was a heck of a hook up. They had a few different beers, a few different bottles of wine. Not to mention their bar menu. We took a spot on the railing with our drinks to watch the game. It was a great view. It would have been a very expensive seat at a pro game. The ice was excellent, and well kept. The facilities in total actually were top notch. I'm not saying we will come around for just any random game, but the facilities made it very inviting to watch our friends amateur game. Management needs an overhaul on staff training and deffinately needs to figure out what's happening at their facility during teen night. The only nice person was the concession staff and 1 female that was looking after the ice rink. All others seemed to hate children and parents. Started coming here as a part of the Adult Learn to Play Hockey program offered by the Florida Panthers. I have only visited this location for practices on Thursday nights. Rinks: This location houses (3) full sized rinks and the ice has always been kept really smooth unlike other ice rinks in the area. I see multiple leagues play on Thursdays from young kids to seniors so every hockey fan is welcomed. Rink 1 has a nice elevated viewing area. Locker Rooms: I've used a number of the locker rooms and all of them have been pretty spartan but what do you really need in a shared locker room besides some benches and a bathroom, which I'm glad they have. My only qualm is that the bathrooms could be kept cleaner. Bar: The bar is good for an after game drink and they also have a kitchen serving typical sports bar food. There is also viewing of Rink 1 from the bar. Pro Shop: The Pro Shop has almost everything you need in terms of hockey equipment and the staff has been very helpful with my beginner questions. After my current learning program here I will probably sign-up for another league at this same location. read more

Panthers IceDen is a great place to take your friends or family skating for a night of fun! I had never been to this arena, but I went with friends and my younger sisters who all had a great time. It was $15 for the entry including the skate rental. This is a relatively smaller arena than the Pines Ice Arena so the ice felt a lot less intimidating. You get a ticket for complimentary hot chocolate with your purchase of entry. The hot chocolate is a decent size and is actually quite good! The IceDen is as clean as an ice rink can be, and the coworkers are always present to clean up and also watch over the rink. There is skating of various skill levels but it's still a lot of fun. It is $6 to purchase the seal to help push someone along but I also highly recommend this to help get your ice legs. It's also a lot of fun as an adult to sit and get pushed around. It gets 4 stars from me because their information on their website isn't always up to date and we did have to call to clarify a few things regarding skate times, cheapskates, and general hours. I had such a great time and did pretty good on the ice so I'm excited to come back if I can convince my friends to go. read more

The price for open skating during the week is great and that's really about the only thing that is, about this place. I've only been here once and I think once is more than enough for me. There's almost no signage telling you where you have to go to pay when you walk in and upon entering you can tell that everyone that is working there at the time seems to just not want to be there and dislike their job. Once you pay you go to get your skates at another window and the young person that was working seem to be more interested in his phone then he did in the customer standing there waiting to get the skates they needed. Upon asking for the size state that I need he told me that he needs my shoes and didn't say anything else. Once giving them to him he walked away and then dropped a pair of states, which were too large, and then sat back down on this phone. The ice needed to be cleaned because after about an hour and a half there was scraped ice and it was starting to get grooves from the skate blades in it making it difficult to skate. You would also think that during open skating during the week they would have the concession stand or something open to sell food but no they didn't they only had two vending machines, both overpriced for what they sell. staff here is very lackluster and this place left a lot to be desired and I probably won't ever be back honestly. read more

I enjoy my sundays/mondays nights at Panthers IceDen. This is a place not just for hockey fans but for sports fan. You can both enjoy a Hockey game or a Football/Basketball game since they a have bar in the second floor with tv screens. This bar has a great view to one of the rinks... this one is my favorite one! To be honest food it isn´t the greatest but who can get wrong when it comes to pizza and fries right? Also they offer hockey and skating classes for beginners. If you are visiting this place I highly recommend to bring a winter jacket if you are a "cold weather hater" as i am :) ... but watching hockey games worth the pain :) Great environment for kids! read more

Wow, was that fun! I stumbled in here last night and was impressed with the facility. We watched a great game, had some Yuenglings and enjoyed one of the coolest places in South Florida. What a great facility, I can't believe it's in S. FL! I've been coming here with my daughter since we moved to FL and we always have a great time. The facility has 3 rinks, 1 primary rink (used for public skate, classes and league games), 1 rink for private parties and league games and 1 rink for league games alsk used as the practice rink for the Florida Panthers. They also have a great store with skates, sticks, jerseys, pants, t-shirts, sweatshirtd, hats, helmets and everything else for skating/hockey, including gloves (in case you forgot yours at home). There is a small concession stand that serves pizza (Papa John's), warm pretzels (plain, salt or cinnamon), hot dogs, fries and hot chocolate. I definitely recommend the fries, pretzels and hot chocolate (don't forget to ask for whipped cream), the rest of the food is mediocre. They also offer skate rental and for beginners they have "walkers", which are made out of PVC (check pictures) that help skaters of all ages and abilities to get around the rink. They are $5.00 to rent. Note: they have SUMMER public skating afternoon and evening sessions (from June through August 22). Note: instead of paying each time you go, you can buy a Summer Skating Pass for $99.99 + tax (good deal if you go a couple times a week). Summer Afternoon hours: M-F 10-3pm, Sat-Sun 1-3pm ($10 + $4 skate rental) Summer Evening hours: Mon/Wed 7-8:30pm ($8 incl. rental skate) Fri 8:30-11pm ($10 + $4 skate rental). They try to answer questions off the top of their head and do not ask management above or check even a schedule for that matter, to find the right answers. I have been coming here for a couple years for hockey games and found the Panthers Ice Den to be a great spot! They have 3 sheets of ice with two levels. Upstairs they have a bar that serves food and an area where you can sit to watch a game from the upper level. On certain days they have ice skating for all ages but mostly held for games, practice and tournaments. The food is not bad serving bar sandwiches, burgers, pizza and appetizers. I live locally and have been here a number of times. But what kills the experience each and every time I visit for open skate are the pathetic employees they have working there. Best Place to Escape the South Florida Heat. I don't need a weather person to advise me that it's hot as hell outside. My grass is dying and there has been no rain in sight. I can't even walk my dogs without sweating like Elvis on a bad day. Even my pool feels like a hot tub and I don't even have a heater. This sucks! Besides inside my house, where can I go without taking a plane to Iceland to escape this brutal heat? I mean I want it cold, real cold. The Breakaway Bar and Grill This is the place folks! You know it's cold when you need to wear a jacket inside. I've been here several times over the years and I often wondered why this place isn't busy during the hottest times of the year. It is so refreshing to walk inside the Florida Panther Iceden to begin with. They have three ice skating rinks and the temperature has to be in the low 60s or even colder. Now if you walk upstairs and take a left, you will find this hidden treasure. A cold oasis where you can enjoy some domestic/craft beers, wine, simple pub grub and get out of the scorching heat. There is a small bar that has 12 beers on draft with 4 of them being craft beers from Miami Brewery. Oh yeah, for you Canadians, they have Labatts Blue on tap. They have an assortment of bottle beers on hand to quench your thirst too. There is no shortage of beer at this joint. There are several tables off to the side and chairs that line a rail where there is a clear view of an ice rink below. Each time I've been here there were some community teams playing on ice. Most of the time it's been adults but I have seen some kids playing too. Service As my body core comes down to a nice cold temperature I order a Miller Lite Draft and start talking with the bartender, Katie. She has worked her for two years and has a great personality. She gives me the inside scoop on the different "cool" things pun intended that happen in this pub. First off they have the NHL package for you hockey fans. Happy Hour runs Monday thru Friday from 5p-7p with a dollar off draft beers and two dollars off wine. When the Panthers play if you wear any of their apparel and they score you get a free draft beer. Hooray! They also show football games but there is not one particular fan base that hangs out here. I ask her why and her response was they show a variety and don't focus on one team. My thoughts are no one has claimed this bar as their home-base. Which means it's prime for a Dolphin takeover! They serve food but I didn't try any. Katie recommends their chicken wings and says they a real good. Target Rich Environment So as I'm drinking my beer some dudes that just finished playing in a hockey league start to filter into the pub. If you have been following my reviews over the years I'm sure you have realized that I'm not your normal thinking food/business writer. I don't think like most writers because my mind wanders. Mostly in a good way. Case in point, the guys filing in are decent looking men. They have the beards and that rugged look that some women adore. So I ask Katie, do a lot of women hang out here because of all the men? She laughs and says, just their girlfriends or wives. She continues to say, I tell my single girlfriends all the time they need come up here and meet some of the single guys. Plus, Hockey is not a cheap sport so they need some money to play and they are nice guys too. I start laughing because I knew what she really wanted to say which was, these dudes may have some damn money. But she is right no woman wants a Scrub (see TLC song for a definition). I ask, when is the best time to come check out these handsome hockey men. Her reply, 7p to 1a on Sundays. Lots of leagues play during that timeframe and they usually come to the bar after their games. So there you have it, with my hidden treasure you also get Dan I. Cook's dating service too. If you meet you future significant other here, you owe me some beers. Verdict There is no other place in Broward County, that I know of, that can beat the low temperatures and cold beer than this joint. Plus, Katie and Serg who drives the Zamboni told me that usually on Sunday nights they have a large snow pile in the back of the rink. This is where all the ice is dumped from the Zamboni. Word is that a few snowball fights have occurred along with some building of snowmen. How romantic, you can meet the man of your dreams and throw a snowball at him all in one night. The Pro Shop staff are helpful at times. The Skaing instructors are very professional, helpful and their overall skate program is one of the best. However, the rest of the staff are not that friendly. These are kids mostly (working the food area and front desk). They need a bit of customer service type trainiing but then again, they are kids. The facility it self is awesome. 3 full sized ice rinks, very clean. I've been to plenty of other rinks throughout the US and this is on top for sure. My advise to management is to please clean or at least spray the rental skates. They smell awful!!! So bad that you don't want to use them most days. They used to spray Lysol in them to keep them fresher but they no longer spray anything in them or clean them at all. They really funk. Also, please fix or improve the speakers in the rink. They sound horrible and the guys/kids who play the music turn it up more than what the speakers can handle. A decent sound system would really help. It would also open things up for a weekend skate party type of night. read more

Never knew there was an Ice skating place in Coral Springs. Found group coupons on-line admission for 2 individuals with ice skate rentals for $12. Great deal. It was easy to find and they have certain hours that you can access the skating rink for the public. We went from 1-3pm. We thought it we would need more time there but you really don't. It is really cold and after a few laps around the skating rink you will be tired. A lot of young kinds come here and I was fairly surprised to see how good of ice skaters they were. They have two food stands, a shop to buy ice skating gear, and a area to have birthday parties at. Several workers ice skate around the rink to make sure everyone is okay and they even place music to get you in a good mood. It was definitely a fun place to go to. Will be back soon! read more

Amazing place to ice skate! I purchase a Groupon from this place a few months ago and it exp. I was hesitant whether to use it or not. I finally decided to take the long ride and give it a shot. Wow what was I missing, love this place. The staff was very helpful and excepted my exp coupon with no hesitation what so ever. The facility is huge from there three ice skating rinks to there food court to the bar and shop I love it all. They also offer ice skating lesson and hockey classes. The buffalo chicken flatbread, hot wings and chili all came out cold and tasted horrible. They could do so much better here if the food was good. My children are progressing nicely and are exciting to come to each class and practice. 3. This area is lacking. They haven't had much luck with anyone for a while. The quality is what you expect. At least they have beer upstairs. 4. Friendly and engaging. 5. Friendly. Not the cheapest around, not the most expensive. They have deals at the end of the season. I went to the pro shop to buy a pair of Ice Flys and we were happily greeted by Matt Redmond. He did a custom fitting for me and it was fantastic. He gave his honest opinions on what he thought I should get and what blade is perfect for me. He spent a great deal of time working with me and was very focused on what he was doing. He is by far a pro in my opinion and totally knows his stuff. I 100% recommend him for any of your skating/hockey needs. He knows anything there is to know about both types of skates. He took me out on the ice after he temporarily mounted my boots and asked about how it felt and weather or not I was leaning to one side or another. The rinks there too are gorgeous! The ice is amazing there. I walked out with a perfect pair of skates and I was super happy. Matt was definitely the best. read more

This rink has the worst run management of any sports complex I have ever seen. The locker rooms are never open, but which I understand, however it is next to impossible to find someone to unlock them. Most of the staff seem to generally not care about their jobs. It's like you are intruding on them when you ask a question. And to charge $2.25 for a bottle of water?!?! Next time, wear a mask before you rob someone. If I could rate with negative stars, I would. After my daughter quit gymnastics, I needed to find her another activity. So, I signed her up for Stanley C ice skating lessons. She loves loves loves it! All the kids are in groups and they continually move up once they master certain things. She literally was skating after lesson 1! Now, we also go to public skate night. She skates around and makes little friends. I haven't been (yet!) but there is a bar for mom and dad to hang out at while the kids skate. There is also a full snack bar but with pizza and things. My review is not so much for a skating rink but for a Pro Shop. I bought a hockey stick for 150$ from the Pro Shop and 30 min later in the game it broke and they do not warranty it. Just giving all kind of different excuses. I understand that there is no warranty over certain amount of time but come on 30 min for a 150$. Management there is not up to the task. They didn't even wanna find a solution. Basically told to get lost. They lost my business completely. Horrible Ice Rink. No Hockey entrance so parents are force double park in front and drop hockey bags. Once you enter through the only doors, the entry is block by a line of people paying for skating. Once you do get near the rink you have no space to sit and lace your skates. The rink used of open skate had one way in and one way out, thus people stood 10 people deep trying to in and out and see their kids. Likewise you can buy food and drink but there is no place to sit. The open skate is crowded dark and noisy. The music is so loud I have to yell to teach my kids to skate. They have three rinks and I found one water fountain. There is a desk and the entrance that is not manned most of the time. When it is manned the person could answer simple questions? I stood in line for 15 minutes to buy a hot chocolate only to be told they only have hot chocolate on the other side of the concession. I was told to take off my skates and walk around the concess to stand in that line. It would be a 100 foot walk for but only 10 foot walk since both concessions are attached. The first rental skates given was missing and eye and could not be laces. The second rental skates had on good blade and one with a rusted, dented, pitted blade. It was like skating with on foot in a bucket. This is the only rink I have ever been to that rents walkers for kids. Every place else they are free. When I found I needed to pay for a walker I was told I should take off my skates to stand in line to pay for a walker. Of course since they only had a few I would need to wait until one became available. read more

I haven't been ice skating in ages so when thinking of fun activities to do over Vday weekend, ice skating ranked up there. I bought a Groupon which was admission and skate rental for 2 ($14). Basically that was 50% off their regular price. I checked the public skating calendar and we opted for Saturday afternoon from 1-3pm. I thought 2 hours was a little short but I can assure you, it's plenty of time! We checked in at the cashier and got our wristbands for the skate rental. You give your size and your shoes and they swap you. I suppose this cuts down on people stealing skates. However, there was no lockers at the facility, which was disappointing. I saw women handing over their handbags and I was a little reluctant to hand over my wristlet. I removed my id and credit cards and put them in my pocket and handed it over so he could add it to the little cubby that housed my sandals. My sig other and I got on the ice and I held onto the side for dear life. I didn't think I could skate without it but by the 3rd time around, I was skating without the wall! They played decent music and it was fun to people watch. About halfway through they needed to clean the ice with the Zamboni, which cuts into your 2 hours but it was a welcome break. We went to the snack bar and grabbed a water ($2.25). We wanted to sit but the seats were all filled and I commented that they needed more seating for when this happened. When we got the all clear, we were back on the ice and the employees skating on the ice offered to take a picture of us, which was nice. It was approaching 3pm and we definitely had our fill of skating. We went to return our skates and both employees gave us the wrong shoes, which was a little disturbing. This is an ok ice rink with three rinks. It's got very early hours and the staff is very nice. It is very dirty though. Maybe you should consider cleaning up the locker rooms, but other than that it's great. read more
