Super convenient location for me to get lab work done. It's maybe a 10 min walk from where I live and it's great I can get here a few minutes before they open (0800) and can be first or second in line. Every 4 months I have routine labs for one of my meds so here pretty often. It's a clean space and run by one person. Most times it's the same employee and she is always great...if I remember right her name Arlene, mad props for her to run the ship solo. If you're in the downtown/kaka'ako area and need labs done, definitely recommend this location. read more

It's so convenient to have a Diagnostic Laboratory Service in the heart of downtown. At one time, this location was only doing COVID testing but it now back to normal. Patients from the Medical offices within the Restaurant Row/Waterfront Plaza, can get their blood test done on the ground level of building 6. Note, there won't be any parking validation given, so if you can make it out before the 1/2 hour grace period, that will be great, otherwise you can get 2-1/2 hours parking validation from some of the nearby eateries. You may need a minimum purchase. Hokulani Bakery may offer parking validation for time spent at the bakery and Straub ENT offered a flat rate fee when you have an appointment with Straub. This Diagnostic Laboratory Services is at the Diamond Head end of the complex and perhaps can park on the Diamond Head side of the parking lot. On the 3rd level is where there is one handicap stall near the Diamond Head end elevators which can avoid the stairs on the first and 2nd levels to the parking lot. This small location has one phlebotomist , but she was fast and efficient. I'm usually a hard draw, but some are good and can find a good vein on their first try. If the worker is not able to find your veins and draw blood in 2 tries, you would need to go to another DLS, since there is no other worker to assist, and the maximum times the phlebotomist can poke you is two! I'm fortunate she was able to find my vein in her first try! This location opens later at 8 am than other DLS. I usually go to the other locations, but I would come here, if I'm not able to go before work at POB 3 or in Kailua on Saturdays. I used to go to the Kaheka location but parking can be problematic. At the Kuakini and Queens locations , you still can park for free for the first hour, This location is closed on weekends but convenient if you work in town If you need to fast, it's usually 10-12 hours depending on the what kind of testing. The lady phlebotomist was so nice, the place was nice & clean and it's not as busy as the other locations! No waiting in the morning when I go! read more

I don't come to diagnostic laboratory services often but when I do, the service has always been excellent. The first time I visited, I had a blood draw done by Adele and she was so kind and comforting because I told her that I don't do well with blood draws. Even though I am a fully grown adult, I'm still a little bit, scared about getting my blood drawn, but she kept me at ease and was so gentle with my blood draw and didn't even actually hurt. I had a similar experience when I went a few days ago with Francis. He was a floater and he was also so excellent. The staff that does the blood draws and check ins are so great and so welcoming you don't even think about this being laboratory services. The facility is clean from the room of drawing blood to the bathroom to even the waiting room. It is just a little bit too cold but if you do have to do a urine sample, maybe that will help you because it is so cold in that lobby. if you were in the area and you need laboratory services I really recommend this location. read more

I got lucky number 88. Worker acknowledged, informed me to please take a number and have a seat. Please have your valid photo ID and medical insurance card ready for worker during check in procedure. There's another customer who arrived and did the same steps. Waited patiently for about 10 minutes. I wondered what's the hold up. I observed her helping another customer at a separate room. I realized Arleen is one woman who runs the entire location with a smile and efficiency. I asked her if she will receive any more help from staff today. She said, "No. They're not going to bring in any more help." She found veins in my right and left arm, noticed left arm looked more noticeable. One poke in left vein and she withdrew four vials of blood. She informed me to apply pressure here with gauze, wrapped my left arm with lime green bandage, leave on for at least 15 mins and no more than 1 hour. I acknowledged understanding. Get your parking sticker for ticket validation before leaving the office. Please be patient as there's only one phlebotomist running the entire office. If time is a concern, please consider visiting another DLS location. Got free validated parking in Waterfront Plaza. Success! read more

Lady works there solo. She tries to multi task, running around room to room, answering phones, yelling out to take a number, having patients wait in room. She tries to do it all efficiently but it's not working. Apparently my Dr. faxed over my paperwork but she couldn't access the form for some reason, she called an IT person, I called my Dr's office 2 times, I texted my Dr. via My chart, many times. Long story short, lady made my experience awful - 1 hr. later I left not even knowing if the sample she took was going to be processed. Never going back. Horrible experience. read more

When you think you got exposed to someone who tested positive for covid, you immediately call your Doctor's office. I was referred to Kapiolani Hospital drive thru testing site. Finding an appointment at Clinical Labs, I couldn't get one for either today or tomorrow. My next choice was DLS at Restaurant Row. I booked an appointment for early afternoon same day. First of all, parking is amazing! Covered, validated, and abundant. Sadly, lots of businesses are either permanently closed in the area, or made adjustments to operating times. So finding parking was a breeze! I was in and out within 10 minutes. Here's what confused me. I had the option of getting a rapid test or PCR which I needed for work/travel. When the lady swabbed me, it wasn't the painful procedure as I have been accustomed to. She ran the swab in circles inside both nostrils, causing no discomfort. I had jokingly said "Oh you're not going to stick it all the way in?" She replied "That's if you want to. But that procedure is mainly for travelers going in and out of Japan." Had I known she was going to collect the sample that way, I could have bought an at home kit and swabbed myself. read more

After hearing from my friends that the technician that I first went to got much better, she was able to draw my blood from my arm with no problem, as well as this asian temp guy that was spot on, with no pain so i would have given this dls a 5 star. However, they both left, and they recently hired another temp, who is very professional and nice, but she wasn't able to find my vein on my arm even if I drank lots of water continuously for 3 hours prior to my blood test, and instead of feeling the pain of having her attempt to stab me with the needle in my arm several times, i told her to do it on the back of my hand, which trickled into the tube. Usually, I walk out if I see that they are having a hard time finding my vein, but I decided to give her a chance, because then I would be wasting more time to have to find time to check in to another dls. Thus a 3 star because they have recently been ok, and it's conveniently in restaurant row, but i wish they would bring in better and experienced technicians even if they are temporary. Note: they are only open on weekdays, but queens pob 1 or 3 are open, which is several blocks mauka of this dls. read more

Went in for my annual blood draw in preparation for an upcoming annual physical exam today. There were only 2 other people ahead of me but it took about 45 minutes or so before I got called in. For me, it's not an issue as I didn't have anything else that was pressing on my schedule but, for others who might come here before work or during a lunch break, I would strongly recommend that you be patient or go to another site. The phlebotomist, Quon (sp?), was friendly and efficient. Hey, one jab and he got my vein and it was relatively painless. No complaints from me! My physician ordered several different diagnostic tests so several tubes of blood were drawn from me. The procedure was quick and as I said, relatively painless. This site of DLS is conveniently located just minutes from the downtown financial district, comfortably air-conditioned and has a comfortable waiting room. There is a parking structure attached to the plaza but I didn't drive here so I don't know if parking is validated or not. Most importantly, their laboratory set-up is very clean and well-organized. They provide service to the public as well as to the multiple healthcare tenants in One Waterfront Plaza. I don't know if it's usual staffing to only have one person managing this site or if it was just today BUT if you're on a tight schedule, you might want to consider elsewhere. Discovered this place from a coworker and a very convenient location for me on a work day. Went about 745 am on a weekday. The pro is that there was NO WAITING LINE, so almost a walk in service and I was in and out in less than 10 min for a blood and urine test. The cons were; the one worker manning the place seemed almost annoyed that I showed up, not friendly at all, curt, I felt almost like "I was a job" and she wanted just finish and send me on my way. Do not go to this DLS location if you are going in the morning before work. They only have one person working at all times and unless you're the first one there when they open, you will likely have to wait at least 20 minutes. Giving this location one star because I came at 6:55am to make sure I was first in line. As I am writing this it is now almost 7:15am and there is still no one inside and the place is not open. If your hours of operation are 7am - 4pm, make sure you are open during those times! Now I'm going to be late for work, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid in the first place. So fast! I didn't even know this place existed. Glad I made the trip. It literally took me less than 5 minutes from checking in to getting my blood drawn and then providing a specimen sample. There was only one guy working when I went in and it was empty. The place looked clean, probably the cleanest of all the places I've been to on the west side. Okay, I was a little nervous seeing the hit or miss reviews for this DLS location, but Kwon made my visit so smooth and easy. I'm so beyond thankful for him. I hate getting blood tests because the phlebotomists usually miss my vein, but I let him know and his reaction was, "Challenge accepted." And he was spot on for 4 bottles of drawn blood on the first try. He also kept up conversation to keep my mind off of things during the process while also just showing that he's genuinely a nice guy and I appreciated that level of customer service from him. I am terrified of needles. I was happy they had this location open since i work right here. I got Shantel the first time and advised her which arm to use since i have to do this all the time. The stick was a small prick (thats normal) and blood was drawn quickly. The pull out was kinda sore though, but everything was fine. I'm pretty used to it. She was nice, joked along with my awesome sarcasm. This is my second visit with them again, and of course I got Shantel again. This time she remembered that I had a fear and I had a preference of which arm, and my remark of the painful pull from last time. I didnt remember making that remark, but I then remembered that I said "it was just a slow pull that made it a little sore." She then pricked me, and I had not even felt it!! I was overjoyed! Then the blood drawn... then of course came the end of the pull out... she was amazing to pull it out quickly and I had no pain! Shantel was awesome. I am so glad that theyre here. I love the fact that there is no long wait because i had to get back to work. The staff is nice. The place is clean. Keep up the good work guys! read more

3rd time coming to this location and I love it! Shantel (spelling?) is super friendly and I felt NO PAIN whatsoever when she drew my blood. The location is not that busy so each time I was in and out. As soon as you walk through the door she welcomes you with a smile and greeting. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Was on vacation in Honolulu and had to have a covid test done before flying home to Canada. Researched online, found this lab which said results would be received within 48 hours. Scheduled appointment 72 hours in advance. When we showed up the manager told us only after paying for and taking our tests that her job "was now done" and to come in Monday morning when they opened if not received by then. What?! Our flight was leaving that Monday morning, how could we do that? What then took place was unbelievable. I did not receive my test results in 48 hours. I ended up spending my last day in Hawaii on the phone and email with customer service representatives, one of which lied to me by saying someone would send it shortly and never did. When I called again I was told I would receive it the next afternoon (after my flight departed). When I flat out cried on the phone and begged they agreed to look into it, but even this took repeated follow up and I again had to fill out the same forms etc. Total nightmare. I have good memories of Hawaii, but this was a complete nightmare. Go elsewhere even if you have to pay more. read more
