After many months of painful scrutinies, I finally became an owner of a co-op apartment. The first thing after closing, the broker advised me to change the locks. I have never done it so I was stressed about the another hassle. I found Dial Locksmith online and tried to give them description of the locks over the phone but could not even distinguish what is a deadbolt and what is not. The technician on the phone suggested that I just sent him pictures of the locks. It was super easy. The technician arrived half hour early, so when I texted him that I am already in the place, he rung the buzzer within a minute. He did an incredible job; he not only replaced both locks, but he also added some cover on ugly old holes in the door and replaced some metal thingie-things free of charge. He was done in an hour. He was very polite, nice and clean. Cleaned up after and organized my old locks into the new left-over boxes. I have lived in this neighborhood since Dial Locksmith opened in 1986. Yesterday I went to make keys. The front door was locked, with a courteous sign, "The locksmith was out temporarily for an emergency lock appointment." I returned later that day as the locksmith was closing his door for the day. I explained I had been there earlier when he was out for a call. He opened his door and made my keys. I was all ready to pay him, thankful for his service and he said, "No charge." He was apologetic he had not been there earlier. He wouldn't take my money. I always go there when I need keys made and once when I was locked out of my apartment, they came to open my door on a Sunday night. HONESTY at its best!! OK so here's a little story I had to share. I needed a locksmith to switch out a lock (for reasons I will not begin to get into...) and I called around the Upper West. I found the best price at a place called Dial Locksmith. Anyhow, a really kind man named Leon arrived really quickly and did the job perfectly. That's not all, I had apparently accidentally overpaid him by $20 because I didn't realize I had new bills that stuck together. One of the most important aspect of using a locksmith in New York City is are they honest. Sounds ridiculous but there are MANY rogue locksmiths who sell copies of keys for a living Dial is very reputable and helped me out in a big pinch. Very professional and courteous trouble shooting call that was resolved by changing the inner part of a deadbolt door lock. While the original part replaced was past warrantee this additional replacement was done at no cost given that it had been less than a year since the initial repair. read more
