I absolutely love this preschool! We moved from Arcadia to San Dimas early this year and I have pretty high standards. I toured so many schools and fell in love with this one. It's not a typical co-op, they really work on all aspects of growth. They do small groups and rotate rooms so they get exposure to sensory, crafts, and some fun games.. My son has grown so much here. The teachers here are so amazing, and work so well with all the children. I have also enjoyed the parents, and the community around the school. There has been times when I haven't been able to volunteer, and the families jump right in to help. I know my son will be ready for kindergarten after attending this school. read more

I have been taking my kid here for pre-school since January of 2022, and I have to say Ms Mitzie and Ms Pamela provide quality teaching. I was skeptical at first but after the first couple of months I noticed my daughter was more social and speaking better. I will leave this review as a highly recommended place of business for day school/ pre school needs. The staff has been nothing but accommodating, professional, and honest. They are also very organized when it comes to events. My favorite was the Father's Day event, where all dads were invited for coffee, donuts, and a fun day with our kids. I found this school on yelp and it was in our neighborhood. We wanted a place for our almost 3 year old to become comfortable playing with other children and in a school environment after being home for so long during the peak of COVID. We had the opportunity to come in the morning one day to meet Ms Mitzie and tour the school with our daughter - she cried because she didn't want to leave. We just finished our first year there and we truly had a great experience. Our daughter loves the teachers Ms Mitzie and Ms Pamela. I've seen my daughter grow so much and learn to follow the routine they have there. She looks forward to the arts and crafts and enjoys all the songs they sing together. I appreciate the opportunity to volunteer there and like how hands on the parents are- it gives me a chance to be more involved and Knowledgeable about my daughters school day when we talk about it at home. Covid started when my son was 2 1/2 and we were quarantined for a year with my son having little to no interaction with kids. At 3 1/2 we decided that he needed to start preschool due to delay in speech. We sent him to another well known preschool next to our house where we had the worst experience with the teachers and director. We lost all hope of him adjusting to preschool until we met Ms. Mitzie, Ms. Pamela and the parents of Diamond Bar Community preschool. They helped my son adjust to the new environment and his speech improved exponentially in a couple of months. If you want your child to be babied and catered to this might not be for your child but if you want to prepare them for TK or Kindergarten this is a great place! It's a great safe environment for kids to be social and to learn rules, structure and independence while still getting the close attention and affection they need from teachers and parents. Please understand the level and years of experience Ms. Mitzie and Ms. Pamela has is incomparable to a typical preschool teacher. We all LOVED this preschool. As parents, we were able to volunteer on "working parent days" to see her during the school as well as help all her classmates. It was awesome to see everyone grow over the school year. The head teachers are extremely experienced and fantastic with the kids. We (mainly me the parent) will miss the lovely songs they would sing throughout the day. All the other parent volunteers are as devoted to helping our kids learn, have fun together, and grow. We're so happy that we found this preschool. Our first son attitude towards school was negative before he attended school. Whenever we mention about school he would always say no. However, after his first day, we can see how he completely changed his mind. He couldn't wait to go back to school. He would always ask "do I get to go school tomorrow?" We are definitely not returning to this preschool. Although people have given positive reviews, I know of a number of parents who are not happy with the DBCP, but will not give a negative review, simply because of the small community at the preschool. Everyone knows everyone, even if they aren't personal friends. What's different about a co-op preschool is parents do everything. It's not a problem, except there are cliques, and not the greatest leadership from the teachers. Mrs. Pamela is very unprofessional, and I'm not sure Ms.Mitzie totally understands the dynamic of the school. I was always friendly to everyone, and it is something else, when you see a parent being mean to another person's child, simply because that parent is not friends with another child's parent, or simply because Ms.Mitzie and Mrs.Pamela are not around, to supervise. Not cool. By the end of the school year, there weren't any parents signing up to work in Mrs.Pamela's classroom. So I did. I wanted to see exactly what she was doing and how she interacted with everyone, including my child. I didn't see any teaching that's for sure. Every single time I worked in Pamela's class, she would yell at me (and other parents) in front of students, or other parents. She is very controlling, and does not like it if you so much as move a pencil in her classroom. I finally had enough, and told her the reason why I would not come back to this preschool is her. I also observed Mrs.Pamela on numerous occasions, yelling at a special needs boy. I talked to Ms. Mitzie about it...but it seems that running the business seems to take precedent over getting rid of or talking to Mrs.Pamela...who seems to not enjoy being a "teacher" at DBCP. When I talked to another parent about Mrs.Pamela, the parent said I shouldn't say anything to anyone, because I'd make life really bad for my child. I did however, talk with Ms.Mitzie. Ms.Mitzie and the parent President, explained, they did not know why Mrs.Pamela picked on me so much. However, I know from my personal observations, it wasn't just me Mrs.Pamela picked on. It was other parents, and some students. I also do not like that the parents do all the teaching. I have never seen Ms. Mitzie and Mrs. Pamela teach. I've seen them facilitate circle time, and give assessments, but that is all. I don't know where they are when it's teaching time, and parents are teaching. This was every day, the entire school year. You don't know where they are during rotations from class to class. They aren't outside, they aren't in the class...where are they? Over all, I would not recommend this preschool to any friends. It is inexpensive, and yes, you get to come in and see your child in preschool, but I'd rather pay more for a preschool, who has real teachers who truly ENJOY teaching, and have a passion for doing what's best for the children. P.S. If you see another person discounting my review of DBCP, or another person's review of this school on another website, you will get a real feel for the clique dynamic. I may be the only one brave enough to give an honest review...but I know I speak up for many. If you go to DBCP......ask them the hard questions 1) Where are the teachers while the PARENTS teach? 2) How do you interact with Special Needs children? They have a beautiful program, where each child is given the opportunity to learn at their own pace, with the main focus being social and play activities. The parent component is amazing! I absolutely LOVE this preschool. My little guy started at a different preschool last summer and it just wasn't a good fit for him so I started my search for something that would meet his needs. Another family that used to attend DBCP recommended it so I immediately scheduled a tour so he could start after the new year. I brought my mom along since she would be the one "working" and she loved it as much as I did! My son started in January and is currently in summer school and it's day and night from his last school. He used to cry and say he didn't like school but after a month at DBCP he would tell me he liked school and liked Ms.Pamela and Ms.Mitzie. The thing I love most is that both Ms.Pamela and Ms.Mitzie are SO patient with my son. He's got a lot of personality and loves to test boundaries but they hold their boundaries and my son loves them for it. We have a difficult kiddo who I kept home with me for longer than normal in hopes that he'd outgrow a pretty significant speech delay before sending him out into the world. This school really appealed to me because of it's level of parent participation. It is a great transition between having your child at home with you and full time "on their own" t-k or kindergarten. We are so glad we found this program for our son. He's been excited and happy to go to school every day from the very beginning. They were gentle and compassionate about behavioral issues and do everything they can to understand his speech delay and help him thrive outside of our home despite his differences. They have a great balance between play and structured motor skill/ academic activities which readies them for formal schooling to come without burning them out. Monthly field trips and thoughtful activities really give your child a great array of experiences. Parent work days let you get a good look into your child's day to day so that you see their strengths as well as the areas they could use more direction and work. The director and teachers are involved, compassionate and go the extra mile for the children in their care. My son's medical situation became more complex while attending DBCP and it couldn't be more obvious that they care about the students on a deeper level and will work with you to make sure they are safe and accommodated. One of the biggest joys of this school is being part of the formative years with your child and knowing what's going on in and out of the classroom. The teachers become your counselors and parenting guides as they teach not only your child but also you, the parent. I love to hear stories of my child about what they did at school (when it isn't my turn to work at the school) through another parent or teacher. And, frankly, you know the teachers love kids when you see them belly laughing at the cutest things they say and do. I love the curriculum they implement. I see the balance between imaginative play, creative thinking, social development, academics, and small and large motor developments. Also, the large playground they have is truly awesome. My oldest went to this preschool and I'm getting ready to be there with my youngest. I wish there were more co-ops - the concept is wonderful and if you have the time to be with your kids at this age, it is an incredible experience. This school and its teachers are a well oiled machine - everything works so well and from the first day you show up to work as a parent to the last, you know what you're doing, you know what's expected and you don't have to feel like you have to come up with crafts and materials for the kids to do. They are there for you, you have to facilitate the groups and inspire play and learning. You get to know your kids in that environment, you get to know their friends and you get an invaluable experience in being in a classroom with kids and being a teacher. This kind of exposure has helped me immensely in my experience with kids in my sons kindergarten class now and with kids in general. The school introduces the kids to being in a school environment in their first year - it's a lot of play and socialization that are exactly what kids this age need to gain confidence and skills for school later on. The second year has an academic component which for some may seem a lot, for others not enough but I can tell you that all kids are beyond prepared for kindergarten when they come out of this school and they aren't scared or anxious about academics because they have learned so much and didn't even realize that they are learning reading and writing on a daily basis. There is a lot of imaginative play in the curriculum which is amazing for the kids. I've made life long friends among the parents as we've worked side by side with our kids. I have to respond to another reviewer just with my experience - I've never had anyone yell at me or seen anyone yell at children. I cannot imagine how or when this would happen. The kids are with a teacher and multiple parents at all times. The teachers are always there, leading the kids and it is very clear where they are and what they are doing. There has never been an instance in my 2 years there where I didn't know where a teacher was. There will always be people whose reality is negative. Ask more people and come see the school and its dynamic for yourselves before you discount it. My family and I love DBCP! My older daughter spent 2 years at DBCP and our family had such a great experience with this school. She is now in kindergarten and I feel that DBCP gave her such a great foundation for what she has to learn in kinder. While doing a kindergarten assessment, the teacher was very impressed at how much she could recognize letters, its sounds, shapes, and colors. And it's all thanks to the wonderful teachers Miss Mitzie, Miss Pamela and Miss Kat. My younger daughter just started this year and she is loving it! There are so many things to love about this school. I had visited several preschools and nothing came close to what DBCP offered. As a parent co-op, each family is required to work in the classroom. You get to see first-hand what your child is doing and learning. You really get to know the children (and their families) that attend school with your child. My family has made lifelong friends here. At this age, play is very important to kids. The 2-day program is very play based, which I absolutely loved. Let kids be kids! The 3 and 5 day programs are more academic, but it does still encourage play. I live 10 miles away from DBCP. I had tried the local YMCA tiny tots and my son was bit in the face 2 weeks in. He regressed to the point of therapy. He had trouble socializing with other children because of trust and no longer spoke to adults with confidence. I vowed he would be homed schooled and preschool was not going to happen. When I first found out about the co-op preschool DBCP, I liked the idea of being an active part of my childs' education and being able to physically oversee interactions. I met with the director Mitzie and took my son to check the place out. Mitzie helped calm my fears by explaining how family oriented the school is. My son also fell in love with the playground and asked to come back. In the year we were there (5-day program), I saw him grow out of his protective shell, make friends and put trust in not only teachers but the other parents at the school. He soared academically and socially! If it wasn't for the loving teachers, Ms. Pamela and Ms. Mitzie's, continuous support and encouragement I truly don't know how my son would be today. I love the person they helped mold and am so grateful to them. They are so much more than your child's teachers; they truly are your friends! Four years later, my last child will be graduating from DBCP this year after participating in the 2,3,and 5-day programs and I must say it is so bitter sweet! I will miss this school so much! DBCP is not a daycare. It is a family run preschool. The school depends on its families to actively participate so that tuition can stay at a minimum. Tuition for the month is what most daycare's charge for a week. Your time will result in your child having wonderful memories, making great friends and ready for life after at age 5. This is our 3rd year attending DBCP. My oldest son just started kindergarten and did 2 years at DBCP. We now have a 4 year old attending the 5-day program and our almost 3 year attending the 2-day program. Prior to attending DBCP, I visited around 8-10 preschools/day cares. We placed my oldest in one preschool for about a month despite not being 100% about it. We pulled him out after one month as there was no warmth to it and it didn't have the traditional preschool feel to it. My oldest also did a few months of the tiny tots program, which he enjoyed, but we were looking for something more. Two of the main reasons we chose DBCP was because of the parent-involvement and because of the price. You can't really beat the price of the preschool. As for parent involvement, I really liked the fact that families actually get to know each other and you actually get to play a role in your child's education. On the first day of school, my oldest son walked right on without any hesitation. He felt comfortable and enjoyed the environment. Since we had two younger boys, we were able to take advantage of the nursery offered to the volunteer parents with younger siblings. I like the curriculum offered and the approach taken. I like that kids are broken into small groups and rotate throughout the day. I like the fact that in addition to traditional learning, there is a lot of play learning and that is very important to me at this age. I like the fact that the kids attend fun field trips and are able to partake in holiday parties. I like that the kids have a "share day" in which they are to bring an item from home and tell the class about it. I love the amount of play equipment they have outside as well as inside the classrooms. Although both my husband and I worked FT (grandma volunteered and I worked on my Fridays off), I always have been able to communicate with both Ms. Pamela and Ms. Mitzie regarding any issue or concern. Despite working full time, I was able to sit on the board so that I could do more to be part of the school. My younger 2 LOVE going to school and my youngest cries when it is his not his day to be in class. My 4-year old will be graduating this year, but we will have 2 more years left with my youngest. I truly believe my boys owe their success in school to their start at DBCP. Because of Ms. Mitzie and Mrs. Pamela, our boys started the their educational experience off with confidence and a joy for learning. This confidence is what continues to help them succeed today. I recommend this preschool to all of my friends with preschool aged children. The Stepping Stones program is amazing! The children are reading and learning language arts skills and it is so cool to get to witness them read their first words. Their eyes just light up with excitement at their accomplishment. I love that they have different programs that are age appropriate. Parents get to help out with arts and crafts and sensory activities which is super fun. The really cool thing about this school is the family environment. We made such close friends that we still are in contact with today. The teachers love to have visits from their past students and my 5th grader still loves to visit his preschool teachers when ever he can. My hubby even loved working in the classroom whenever he had a day away from the office. He loved that everything was spelled out for the working parents and that it was easy for even the parents that don't get to be there as often, to be able to participate when they could. Finally, I am so glad we kept our youngest (now in Kindergarten) in the program instead of doing TK. Even though TK is offered for free in our district, nothing could replace the student to teacher ratio and individual attention our child received at DBCP. Those teachers love their students. I love this school! My 3rd grader went here and went to Kindergarten in the top of her class. The kids are fully ready for Kindergarten. The kids are eased into the school setting and learn the routine and how to socialize with others. Now I am there with my second child who is one of the youngest in the class. He loves the school so much that he has cried as we pass the school asking to go to school, but he only goes two days a week. Since it is a co-op we have the great opportunity to participate in our child's learning experience and get to know all the other children and parents. We get to see what our children need to work on and what they excel at. Learning is fun in preschool, the way it should be. The school is very well run and parents know what is expected of them when they are working. There is a parent meeting once a month where the next month is discussed and sometimes there are guest speakers. The teachers are wonderful and my older child loves to come and visit them. They love to teach the kids and remember them long after they graduate. Kids are only young once and I love to be able to spend time with them while they are this age and beginning to learn and socialize. I recommend this school all the time. I am amazed at how far away some people drive from every day to bring their kids to this school. Luckily I don't have to drive as far as others. read more

I have been at this preschool for 4 years so far. I honestly cannot imagine a better preschool! It is a co-op so yes it is a lot of work and does require a big chunk of your time. I feel that you have such a short amount of time when your kids are young that what else would I want for my children but to be totally involved in it! My daughter spent 3 years there. Each year was carefully planned out for her and gave her exactly what she needed. She is very social and had a hard time focusing. Ms. Mitzie and Ms Pamela recognized that and placed her in the groups that would cater to her specific needs. They walked me through her years there and gave me some of the best advice about when to put her in kindergarten since she has a late birthday. I will forever be grateful to them for that! I waited, gave her more time to learn in a environment she loved, develop her skills, and just be a kid for a bit longer. She is now at the very top of her kindergarten class at at 10 school in Chino Hills! She has come away with a wonderful foundation, loves school now and the highlight of her day is still going back to the school when we take her brother! She adores those women and I can't imagine 2 teachers who love on their kids more. They don't hold their hand every step of the way and do everything for the kids, as I know some parents may still do. They help them to learn independence, sharing, being nice to our friends, and that they are safe even when mom and dad leave. If a child is struggling they are called and in 4 years I have never not seen them treat a child with compassion and love. There is a reason why so many families continue to return year after year with multiple children. You only get out of the program what you put into it. My son who is currently enrolled had been in the nursery there since he was 4 months old and was ecstatic when it was finally his turn to attend. You can't fake that kind of joy! He has speech issues and the whole group could not be more helpful and supportive of him. I think preschools were meant for more than putting your child in for just one year. They really have so much more to learn and each year is designed specifically for that age group. This preschool truly gives it all to you if you are a willing participant!
