We found ourselves at Diamond Dave's on July 4th. One of the few places (not fast food) that were open and not closing too early. I'd called to make sure they were open. The gentleman I spoke to on the the phone was friendly and let me know they were. We were greeted right away when we walked in and told to take a seat wherever we wanted to. Seating with mostly low top tables and booths. Our server (a woman my age...mid 50s maybe) popped over right away. Very personable and made sure we were finding everything okay. We started with a fountain drink and water, the jalapeno queso, and some jalapeno poppers. Heather had the ground beef chimichanga plate and I had the chicken alambre dinner. Now... I wouldn't necessarily call this Mexican food... Definitely Tex Mex. And that's okay...! I just don't want to give anyone the illusion that it's authentic Mexican. As if the Dave's in the name doesn't probably already do that... Lol What I will say is the food is very good. Big chunks of chicken, creamy cheese, chorizo, and bacon... My chicken alambre dinner... C'mon! There is nothing not to like there! The beans, rice, and salad were on point too. For what it is everything was great and cooked just the way it should be. The gem here though...was the staff! On a holiday... So great to their guests. We got in a conversation with our server and the gentleman working about the best place to see fireworks etc. if you don't like crowds. I'd worked in Muscatine back in the day, probably 25-30ish years ago, and obviously didn't remember much about the area... It was just a good conversation and still really stands out in my mind. There wasn't anything wrong with our food, but if there was, staff like this makes any mistake easy to forgive. Sometimes it's really more about the experience than it is about the food itself. Lunch date with my daughter. We decided to try this place since we'd been driving by it for a few days. We had the lunch enchiladas (chicken). They were good. This is the last of the Diamond Dave's Taco Company locations and it sure doesn't disappoint, it's everything that was so great about this restaurant! The tacos are delicious and loaded with plenty of meat, lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream. The chips and the famous Diamond Dave's hot sauce haven't changed in years and is simply the best of the best. Our service gal was fantastic and continued to check our drinks and offered plenty assistance in helping us with our selection and service - it doesn't get any better! Always clean and friendly. I always order the taco salad without black olives. I have never been disappointed in years. Give this place a try if you are looking for a tex-mex kind of place. The last two times I ate here they charged a fair price. This time they charged me $17 for an order of 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans. I ordered only meat and cheese on my tacos and they just picked the lettuce off. Highly recommend not going there. read more

Great restaurant!! I crave their salsa in the squeeze bottles!! I have been going here since i was in grade school and keep returning on the regular as an adult. Highly recommend the streak tacos, mozzarella sticks, chicken quesadillas, and Dave's taco salad! Desserts are very good as well.
