I came Saturday afternoon and had the Carne Asada torta. It was good and filling but a bit expensive.($7.00) My wife had a chicken quesadilla, also very filling. The dining area was nice and simple and very clean. I will be back to try something different and see if I can upgrade my review. read more

Great food and service. Bartender stopped by our table. She knows how to make a Paloma cocktail perfectly: not too sweet, perfectly balanced in a way that you could appreciate each element. (I tended bar in NYC and Santa Fe so I should know). Our rellenos and carnitas were very well prepared. read more

We've had the lunch buffet before and it was decent. I like their beans, chips and our Margaritas were good. I would not recommend dinner here. There were only two employees running around like crazy. The chimichangas were ok and my enchiladas were extremely over cooked. I scraped the filling out of them which was ok. read more

CRAZY DELICIOUS tacos. The steak is especially tasty and well seasoned although you can't go wrong with any of the meat options. Burritos are enormous and probably enough for 2 meals. Salsas could be spicier but that's just my personal preference. They have homemade corn chips (chips and salsa not included) but I found them to be pretty standard. Good, not spectacular. Prices are extremely reasonable. I usually get 4 tacos for $8! One of these days I'll stray from my beloved tacos and try a quesadilla or torta. Staff is extremely friendly. They seemed to recognize a lot of people coming in and out. No complaints from me! read more

Amazing authentic mexican food at a good price. The tacos are so good. But this place is known for there burritos. The size, price and taste are all to be desired. The family who runs this place is very kind and makes you feel like your at home. The place is on the smaller size but dont judge a book by its cover. I went in on off hours so i could get better pictures. And guess what the best part of all is... THEY DELIVER!!! YES authentic mexican food deliverd straight to your door hot and fresh. We stopped in on our way through town. I had an upset tummy so I special ordered a steamed fish and sauteed veggies with a side if avocado. The service was the best we have had in the state of Iowa. The chef came out to make sure he understood what I wanted and came back out to make sure it was good. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. read more

Was there on an off chance. Staff seemed a bit confused when all I wanted was a coke to drink, finally settled for a Pepsi. Ordered food and that's where it got wired. Received someone else's order, not once but twice. Then ended up waiting another 45 minutes for our order. Probably won't go back for awhile. Oh and when I paid my bill I got charge for a desert that I didn't order. read more

I ordered 3 American tacos to go, then waited over 20 minutes although there were only 3 guys drinking and nobody there other than myself ordering food. After 20 minutes I received 3 street tacos and went down the street to the hotel. When I took them back in and put them on the bar, explaining I ordered American tacos but got street tacos, the bartender looked at me with the blankest dumbest look I've ever seen. I just left without getting any of the WAY OVER PRICED cost back, I figure they need the $15 more than I do. Surely even Muscatine don't have enough unsuspecting patrons to keep this place going, and there are plenty of other bars in town with actually comfortable barstools. Do us all a favor, go someplace else and let this dump die. read more

Been here 4 times in 60 days and have had excellent tacos every time. The steak tacos are very tasty and the price is reasonable. Other things I have tried is the nacho hidalgo and the chorizo tacos. All very good in my opinion. Not sure if the chips and salsa are free but can tell you the food I paid for was worth every penny. In a blind taste test I would be confident that Chicharo's food would stand up to any of Muscatine's legendary Mexican restaurants. If the restaurant had more ambiance I would have been happy giving 5 stars. read more

Had a great first experience...second not so much. Went for $1 taco special mon-thurs after 8 pm only to find out they don't do it anymore yet they did less then two months ago. Ended up ordering something else waitress asked if we wanted to start with chips and salsa we said yes but low and behold you get charged for chips and salsa! Almost any other Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that's complimentary with any food and or drink orders. Not here it's $3.75 and I'm pretty sure we didn't have to pay for that the first time! And their Queso dip is almost $5 and both times was cool...barely luke warm and the bowl is small...so we paid almost $9 in "appetizers" for two people!!! There's plenty of other good and better priced Mexican places in town that do serve margaritas...we won't be back for a third trip. We're the tacos good...yes but I can go without due to price! read more

First couple visits were good. Today, not so good. Ordered tortas, one I wanted with just meat and cheese. Came with onion and avocado. Told them, they went in back and just took onion off. Bread was hard, like it was old. Tomatoe in tortas was bad already, had to take it out. Took 4 tacos to go and asked for lime in the bag, got home and they gave me one little slice of lime. Won't be back anytime soon. read more
