So my boyfriend has been wanting a piercing for a long time. I did a little research on Yelp and came across the perfect place that's right in the heart of the French Quarter, but he didn't want to make an appointment and wanted to get it done tonight. I happened to get off work early and we were able to make it here before they stopped taking walk ins for the night. We ran through the quarter on a busy night after we were able to find a great parking spot three blocks away, and Carmela greeted us right as we walked in the door. We told her the type of piercing he wanted and she answered some of our questions that we had. Then she showed us over the options for the particular piercing. She is so knowledgeable, and not only amazingly personable, but completely professional. She knows her stuff when it comes to all of this. They also have an wide selection of all different kinds of jewelry for all different kinds of piercings. We decided on the jewelry and then decided to have it anodized to give it a teal color. Carmela's knowledge of this process was really interesting to get to take in. What I really loved about the process, even though I wasn't the one getting pierced, is how awesome she was. She made sure to give us a five minute warning so he could mentally prepare! Haha! She had the most amazing rooms for the procedures. Everything was super hi-tech and super sterile. She walked us through the whole procedure and it was almost painless for him. Just a little stinging. So overall, we absolutely loved Carmela and her little shop in the quarter. I had such an amazing experience. I got a staked lobe piercing, one high lobe piercing and my nipples pierced. They have a wide Variety of jewelry I'm sure anyone could walk in and find some thing that's in their style. I came in 30 minutes before they were closing. They were heading to a funeral as I came in but took the time to assist me with a very specific request I had. Very unprofessional front desk staff. I had an appt for 12 pm for a short jewelry exchange. I was running late so I called ahead to inform the front and ask if it was ok. They said it would be ok. I called again when I parked at 12:09 just to double-check that it was ok that I was running late. Again, I was told that I was alright to come in. I arrived to the door at 12:18 (I was running from my parking spot on Rampart st), and was turned away. The piercer was very professional about turning me away, and I understand that she is fully booked today, it was my fault for running nearly 20 min late to a 10 min appt. However, I called the front desk back to ask why I was told to come in if I was going to be turned away (I would have not bothered sprinting for 3 blocks!), and the male front desk staff was very rude to me and was raising his voice in an extremely unprofessional manner, "this is all your fault" and speaking over me. I take full responsibility for being late and am losing my deposit, but being spoken to like that was hurtful and surprising from a store that I have heard good things about. I know that COVID is a stressful time for everyone, so it is understandable. I hope that this was a one time occasion. EDIT: in response to the owner's reply below: As you can see from my attached photo, I called at 11:18 am when I realized that I was going to be running late for my 12 appt. I initially said "my appt at 11", which I mispoke, I meant my appt at 12. As you can see, I realized my mistake and called one minute later at 11:19 am. When I spoke to you on the phone and asked if I could push my 12 appt to 12:30, you told me that was impossible as you were fully booked. At that point I was driving to your work, trying to make my 12 appt. I understand if this was confusing to you, but I was speaking about the 12 appt. I called nearly 45 min ahead of time, which should be enough time for you to let me know that I would need to reschedule. I also called again at 12 to let your husband know that I was parking, and then again at 12:09 to let him know that I was running in. If you were able to hear me speaking on the phone with your husband, I am surprised that you would call me "very rude". I work in customer service, so I am used to keeping my cool with angry customers, and I was speaking in a calm, polite manner. I wish I had a transcript or recording to prove this, but oh well. I think that the fact that you are trying to make this a "polite to the piercer but rude to the front desk staff" kind of deal as if I treat desk staff as lesser people is very frustrating to me. It seems that you and your husband are not willing to take responsibility for his rudeness and shouting on the phone. I spoke with the friend you recommended you to me, and she instantly knew who I was talking about, and told me that he had shouted at her and her mom during their appt too. It seems like your husband has a pattern of making customers uncomfortable. He should really re-examine his behavior because it is probably losing you business. I have already taken my business elsewhere. I happened upon Diamond Eyez Nola while visiting New Orleans and staying in a hotel next to Diamond Eyez. After doing some research and reading their amazing reviews, I decided to make an appointment to buy new jewelry for my existing piercings, and to have my forward helix pierced x2. Scheduling was super easy via the website! And as far as my appointment is concerned, I couldn't ask for a better experience. The jewelry selection was plentiful and a bit overwhelming, but the receptionist was great and helped me choose some dope jewelry. Vicious was SO sweet, gentle, and made the entire experience very comfortable... my piercings barely hurt! A week later, I'm amazed at how easy the healing experience has been so far, especially considering I've had this area pierced before and had much more discomfort and swelling post-piercing that time around. ABSOLUTELY recommend! Vicious was great! I had my left earlobe pierced a few months ago and it was the best possible experience! It felt like a slight pressure and that was it. I was even able to sleep on it after 3 days there was so little pain. What I liked a lot was Vicious' knowledge and cleanliness. And by cleanliness, I mean sterile technique. Since I work in healthcare and I have to use needles on patients, I also have to use extremely good sterile technique to avoid giving patients infections. That being said, Vicious' sterile technique was the best I've ever seen even comparing her to other healthcare professionals who've used needles on me for various healthcare related reasons. At the risk of TMI, the original piercing I wanted (a VCH) didn't work with my anatomy, and she was great about going through all possible other options with me. She even gave me recommendations for piercings she doesn't perform, meaning she didn't bullshit me just so I didn't take my business somewhere else. For starters, they are the only piercing exclusive shop in the area and when it comes to body modification, you want a professional. @piercingsbyvicious and staff were super nice and the selection of jewelry is gorgeous and had lots of organic/natural stones. I was a walk-in on a Saturday afternoon after only a 10minute wait. The room was very clean and the process sterile. I thought I would need to get my tragus completely re-pierced, but it turned out I only needed a taper and was only charged for the jewelry (a stunning bezel set, orange opal).
