I am fortunate enough to have Dr Heather Davids for my pain specialist. She takes all the time I…read moreneed and listens, intently, when I explain my pain. She reviews labs, X-rays, and my MRI to see, exactly, what is involved and what is causing my pain. She is very knowledgable about different modalities of treatment and presents them with understanding and precision. I, recently, went to her office, but on the way, google maps took to the wrong place. I had parked my car and after walking 3 blocks, I realized I was in the wrong place. I was 10 minutes away from my appointment time. Walking is painful for me, (part of the reason I see Dr Davids) so it took me awhile to get back to my car. By that time I was 2 minutes late. I called the office to let them I was close and that I would be there soon. They told me they would see me soon. Through 2 or 3 more unfortunate actions on my part, I found my self looking for the wrong office number and was instructed by a worked to go to the next building. To make a very long story no longer, I called the office at 20 minutes past my scheduled appointment, crying, and Sandra answered the phone. She had me describe to her where I was, asked what I was wearing and said she would come get me. Soon Sandra was walking me to the office. She reassured me that everything was ok and that Dr Davids would see me soon. That was 30 minutes after my appointment time. They had accommodated my lateness by seeing patients that were already there so I could be seen when I finally arrived. She brought me water, and reassured me everything was ok. When Dr Davids came in she was so kind and gentle and she told me it had worked out and that she was glad to see me. We had a wonderful conversation and she was very through in her assessment of my needs. I felt cared for and it was such a positive experience-one I will never forget. Being an RN that has worked in the medical field, for 35 years, I know a good quality healthcare provider whan I experience one. Dr Davids and her staff are the best! Thank you, Dr Davids and Sandra and the staff for making this very stressful event so much better than it started out to be.

Wow! This was such a refreshing experience. I love the way the office is decorated. The staff were…read morenice but some of them seemed a little frazzled. The one receptionist who called me up first was trying to help me and be on the phone at the same time. She was very matter of fact. I think it would help new patients feel more welcome if the receptionist had a more friendly disposition, was focused on one patient at a time, and would smile at the patients when they walked in the door. I did love the medical assistant. She was friendlier and willing to answer questions. For example how they take your vitals. They check your pulse, blood pressure, and your oxygen intake. I've never had all three done before. I thought that was interesting. I'm a fairly healthy young adult, but I imagine for older patients that added info. would be critical to your overall health. They also encourage patients to get a Advance Care Directive done. I thought that was really helpful of their office to copy all the paperwork for it. My mom passed away at age 48, so I know these things can become important at any age, not just older patients. I'm going to try to get mine done as soon as possible. As far as the actual appt. goes: yes, it was a long wait to see the doc. I can confirm that. But it was so worth the wait. Dr. Karen Hart is sharp, insightful, and totally willing to talk about whatever your issues are. Do you know how difficult it is to find a doctor like that?! I've seen many doctors through the Kaiser, Sutter Foundation, and Mercy Medical group over the years. A lot of doctors are smart but have no people skills. Or they're nice but not knowledgeable. Only a handful stand out in my mind. Dr. Hart would be one of them. I felt she was very genuine and I was intrigued with the information she shared with me on my specific needs. I also know things might take longer to get done because she's only one doctor in this office. But I feel like she's truly a professional, and is very good at what she does. I'm looking forward to calling this doctor my PCP for quite awhile.

This is the "spa, total care" office of Dr. Karen Hart…read more I switched somewhat blindly because the doctor was listed as "family practice" by my insurance and the office was close to my house. The office does have a much nicer, upscale spa feel, which is kind of nice. Leather sofas, adorable decor in the waiting room and patient rooms. But for me, that was the best part. On my first visit, I was waiting for over an hour. Only one client was there before me and went in and for the rest of that time no one else came in. I was escorted to an exam room about 20 minutes into my wait and could hear the doctor through the wall with the other patient. I heard the other patient leave and then I spent a good half hour listening to the doctor make phone calls and talk to her staff. Once she was with me, she hardly looked at me and seemed incredibly rushed. She saw me for about 5 minutes and then sent me away. On my second visit, I specifically asked if I could expect another hour wait. Because I mentioned it, the staff did put a note on my chart and they saw me sooner, I was in and out within 30 minutes. There are only two staff members, and they were incredibly nice but not especially efficient. Wait times on the phone were painfully long, and they didn't seem to have their scheduling system really down. I had to have a follow up visit because my first visit was to order x rays, but once that was done I immediately switched doctors. I can see this office being a good to place to go for retired folks or other people who don't have jobs and who don't have any major problems that need management. If you need access to an advice nurse, need a doctor you can get appointments with quickly, or need a place where you can know you won't waste an entire day there, I'd look elsewhere.

I have been using MedMark for several years and this location is pretty rough. I had SEVERAL…read morecounselors there, the good ones leave because of the workload and there have been some interesting ones I've had. One male counselor spent the whole time being inappropriate and vulgar and was let go once a background check went through, another one was a cool guy but slowly the meetings got weird and I thought it was cause we were getting interested in each other and we decided to go to the movies and it turned out that he was actively using and his "real" personality was nothing like at work! He ended up getting fired for dealing to patients and it was a new counselor weekly until I left. It's true that the computer system was insane and would shut down and we would wait 50+ people deep in line and many people didn't feel well and were angry and it was a very tense place to be. They had a "security guard" and one time someone pulled a knife on someone else and the guard just froze and did nothing and kept saying, "I'm just a paid statue, I don't deal with that stuff!" Totally insane! I moved to Vacaville and transferred to the Fairfield location...OH My Gosh it's so nice there and ran well and never wait more than 10mins. They use a ticket system and you just wait for your number, no lines, no cutters, no fights! Point of my review is MedMark as a company is amazing! It's the bad locations that ruin it for the rest sadly

It really depends on the unit you're in. I've heard that Unit C (Charlie unit) can be violent and…read morethat staff don't intervene much, but I was never on that unit -- I'm including that only as something I've heard, not something I personally experienced. Where I was, there was very little to do. There's music and a TV, but everything has to be shared. Most of the time you're not allowed to have shoes, and after a while your feet really hurt. Other than that, it's mostly coloring pages. You have to get creative. I made games like Hangman and Wordle just to have something to do. Mostly people just talk with each other. In my experience, most patients were actually nice. Many were struggling with addiction or homelessness. I was bullied by another patient at one point. Staff didn't step in right away, and other patients helped me in the moment, but I do want to say that overall staff do handle fights and escape attempts well. That part felt organized and taken seriously. Outdoor time was extremely limited -- I was only able to go outside once a week. That made the lack of stimulation feel heavier. Food was one of the hardest parts for me. Meals were things like chili dogs, and vegetables were often missing. This was frustrating because I had been told by a dietician (or nutritionist -- I'm not sure which) that I should be eating lots of vegetables, yet the meals didn't reflect that guidance. They do accommodate diets. I had a special diet with extra vegetables, but staff initially ignored me or didn't believe me. I had to assert myself and tell them to check my chart or ask someone else to verify it. Later on, the same staff member who had ignored me before actually defended me in a similar situation, which I appreciated. A friend I made there had similar issues in the dining hall. The visit from the dietician wasn't optional. Some of the advice felt like pop science -- for example, being told to drink a glass of water before and after meals for weight loss. I later looked into it myself and found that it only has a limited effect. Staff favoritism is noticeable. Some staff clearly treat certain patients better than others, and the pattern repeats across different people. One boundary issue that really bothered me was when a staff member asked me for a piece of chocolate that I had bought with my own money. Groups are very hit or miss depending on who runs them. Some are genuinely helpful. Others feel more like lectures. One facilitator talks a lot about how much he loves his job, and once ended a group early because someone farted. There are bright spots. I really liked the woman who does music therapy -- she loves animals and felt genuinely caring. I also liked the art therapy groups where we talked about symbolism, drew, painted, or did "happy place" exercises. Those helped. There is so little to do in places like this that I really encourage people to donate. Paperback books, card and board games, puzzles, fidget toys, shoes, clothes, shampoo, conditioner, hair brushes, jackets -- all of it matters. I once donated a Harry Potter book and later saw a patient reading it. That stuck with me. Please consider donating here rather than thrift stores, where a lot of items are thrown away. This place can feel isolating and under-resourced. Small things -- especially creative outlets and humane food options -- make a huge difference.
