We absolutely love Darla Barry-can she be out primary care provider? The office itself might surprise you. The phones seem always to be a little bit busy and sometimes you are on hold a while. But everyone is kind and caring. Sometimes the wait to be seen can be a few minutes longer than you might wish but I promise you that it's worth the cost. Stick with it! We switched from IU north because we wanted a more natural birth experience and we wanted a prenatal and medical team that could fully get behind those choices. The scheduling was effortless and the appointment was made 2 days after the referral was requested. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease with hospital privileges at IU Health Methodist, IU Health University and IU Health West. Dr. Abu is also licensed to provide online care in Indiana. He accepts several different insurance plans so check with your insurance company first if you need his services. IU Health West Hospital is located at the corner of Ronald Regan Parkway and West 10th Street. The hospital has free parking and a patient drop-off area but valet parking isn't currently available. The office is just inside the main entrance and masks plus use of hand sanitizer (they provide) is required to enter. The entrance to the hospital and his office is wheelchair accessible. The office staff has always been friendly, professional and helpful. Chairs have been removed in the waiting area in order to practice social distancing. Again, masks are required in all areas of the hospital. Dr. Romeh is very professional and confident with years of experience. Whether at his office or in the hospital he listens carefully to me and repeats back what he heard. He doesn't dillydally but spends enough time to discuss everything necessary and I never feel rushed. Procedures and medication along with his treatment plan are clearly explained. Dr. Romeh allows for and always ask if I have any questions. I feel very lucky he has proceeded as he has with my treatment plan. My quality of life has improved since my procedures. Now, to tackle rehab!

The medical plaza is conveniently located off of 465 and West 38th Street (behind LA Fitness) with a large parking lot for all of the Methodist/IU Outpatients. There's a covered drop off and pickup area plus many handicapped parking spaces available. Each building's address number is huge so each address is easy to find. The Infusion Center is located on the 2nd floor with elevators just steps from the main entrance. I was warmly greeted by a friendly woman as I entered the office. Check-in was quick with only a couple Covid forms to complete. My wait time wasn't lengthy until I heard my name called. Barb, my nurse/phlebotomist, was personable, knowledgeable, gentle and terrific at her job. I've been told by so many phlebotomists and nurses I'm not an easy stick. You would never have known that by how easily, smoothly and quickly Barb worked. I didn't even feel the needle go into my arm. For me, once my IV is in, it's all downhill from there since I dread not knowing if it'll be an easy or hard stick. Barb was truly amazing today and made the process stress-free. Time went quickly and before I knew it, the infusion was complete and I was on my way. I highly recommend using this Infusion Therapy Center at IU Methodist Medical Plaza. Parking is FREE and plentiful, the facility is extremely tidy and clean, easy to access with friendly and talented staff plus no long distance walks that I had to deal with downtown at IU Simon Cancer Center. I had anaphylaxis symptoms which were getting worse every minute, but the check in process was so quick, all I had to do was hand my ID and insurance card and then the next second I was in a room and taken care of by four people. So quick and efficient, they answered questions I had and told me not to worry about anything but getting better at that moment. Their professionalism and work made me feel so secure and relieved. Obviously I don't want to have to go there again, but if you live in the area, know that you can count on them in case you need medical attention!

They appear to have some kind of coffee service, but I didn't use it. The waiting "hallway" could use an update with more comfortable seating. Over half of the seating isn't conducive to waiting for an hour or more. I did identify some available outlets, but I didn't use them. You'd need your own charger. You get a patient tracking number and can follow the process on monitors in the hallway. That's super handy. Visitor communication is exceptional.

Unfortunately, I was told that the office lab was too short-staffed and busy to accommodate walk-in blood draws, so they directed me to the hospital's main laboratory instead. When I arrived, I checked in using the self-service kiosk. A registration representative called my name shortly afterward to verify a few pieces of information, and then I returned to the waiting area. I appreciated being able to see my name on the TV screen, which let me know I was successfully checked in and in the queue. The wait wasn't long at all before I was called back to the phlebotomy area. The gentleman who drew my blood was very friendly and professional. He even gave me the option of choosing which arm I preferred, which I appreciated. He had excellent bedside manner and made the entire process comfortable. The blood draw itself was quick. Afterward, he applied a bandage, made sure I was doing well, and let me know I could expect my results to appear in my patient portal within 24 hours. Despite being redirected from the clinic, the hospital lab staff provided excellent service, and I left feeling very satisfied that I was able to have it done.

There was nobody behind the desk so I checked in on the kiosk and knocked on one of the doors. A Nurse cracked the door open and glared at me as I explained that I needed a DOT physical. She was very rude towards me for knocking on the door and when I tried to explain to her that nobody was at the desk she slammed the door in my face before I could finish my sentence. This was one of the rudest Nurses I have ever encountered. After that I decided to leave and go somewhere else I will not be going back there.
