I was in need of a pedicure and stopped here randomly. It was later in the afternoon on a Sunday, around when businesses are preparing to close for the evening. Yet I was given such an inviting and warm welcome. The shop is cozy, maybe three or four manicure stations and about as many pedicure thrones. The place looked like it could use a thorough clean, but I've seen way worse. They didn't use the plastic liner in the pedi spa, which I thought was standard practice now. After being ushered in and immediately seated, my tech got to work, removing my old polish, shaping & doing the standard pedi things. My toenails are flat and wide, so I keep them short and very square. Pedicurists seem to hate the width. It offends them so much they clip the sides so the nails look narrower. This tech did this and I must not have been paying attention, because I would have asked her not to. This is where I'm conflicted about the review. My nails were not amazingly shaped, but they weren't bad. Even though the shop got busy, she took her time and put so much effort into polishing my nails. Yet I still wound up with all of my cuticles flooded. There are also so many layer and daubs on my big toe, it looks a bit like chewed gum. The end result isn't awful, but it's really not good. Came here on 7/13 for a pedicure. I called twice, to see if they were open and also to see how much a pedicure was. I was told $32 on the phone. I came into the salon and the owner greeted me with a lot of warmth and kindness. I told her that I called about the pedicure and I was seen immediately. The woman who serviced me was very sweet and gentle. However, they will have to get a 3 star review from me as they are simply too expensive. I originally came in for a regular $32 pedicure and ended up leaving with a bill of $75. The woman who did my feet asked if I wanted a spa pedicure. I haven't gotten my feet done since January so I wanted to treat myself to that. So I agreed and was told the price for that is $60 which is the usual price at most nail salons. As she was soaking my feet, I told her that I had gel polish on and would need it to be removed. The owner overheard me talking to the woman servicing me and told me it would be an extra $10 to take gel off. Mind you, I only had a little bit on my 2 big toes. I was like okay, whatever. Then after everything was finished, I was charged $75 which I don't understand why an extra $5 appeared magically. I did ask the owner why was the bill $75, she told me that the spa pedicure was $65, even though the lady who did my feet told me $60. This was the worst experience I've had with acrylic in the 23 years I've been getting nails...I got a fill, they put 2 different people on my nails. One was using machine the other was doing all the filing by hand. They were cutting & filing the nails unevenly so I asked if just one person could do it. The shop wasn't busy at all. One woman took over & definitely did not file my previous set down properly for the fill. She put new acrylic on top & was sculpting it into this weird shape that made no sense, and it was way too thick. I asked her to fix it & she then spent over an hour hand filing the acrylic down, to the point where she actually filed it completely off in multiple spots. It made no sense...she kept just telling me it was "fine". She also kept filing my skin & cut me at one point, with files that had absolutely been used on other people. I left before the nails were painted & they still charged me $40?!!! For a FILL? It's barely been 2 days & almost all the acrylic they applied has lifted & peeled off. I feel robbed & I'm so mad they took my money. She had the nerve to give me a frequent customer card at the end also...something's off in here. I went here today for the first time and it was an extremely pleasant experience. It was quiet (I went on a Thursday around 4) but not only was it quiet in the sense of not busy, the atmosphere in the salon was quiet. There was classical music, the workers didn't talk too much, and I didn't have to engage in conversation. That was perfect because I was tired, had had a very long day, and just wanted to sit for a little bit. They massage my shoulders and placed warm towels on them while my nails were being painted at no extra charge. The basic manicure was $11 and the girl took a long time cleaning and painting them. I was a bit skeptical of going here after reading the review, but a friend recommended the place to me so I decided to try it out. I came in on a Friday around 1pm. They weren't super busy. I let them know I was sort of in a rush and would like a manicure and pedicure but wasn't sure if I had time for both. They said no worries, that they'd do both at the same time. Came here on 8/10 which was a Tuesday and now it's 8/14 which is a Saturday. I called to make an appointment for a mani and pedi and I was there for about 3 hours.... For a mani and pedi ... 3 hours. Got my regular nails done just normal painting and the new girl was putting on a lot of gel which was taking awhile for my nails to dry... I bumped my nail when I left came back had it repainted but she put so much gel that the fan was drying it in a way where the gel was being moved and not drying right. Then I get home , maybe wait a little over an hour and decided to go on a walk and when I was done took my socks off and my big left toe nail polish was ruined... my nails should've been dry it was over 4 hours. Not comfy with taking a picture of my big toe. But for me to spend $56 on something that didn't last a week is pretty annoying lol. Was trying to be positive and not annoying costumer but as the days went by my nails kept on chipping felt like I did my nails myself she also didn't paint my full nail bed she left space at the bottom. First time customer and this was one of the worst manicures I can remember getting. The whole service felt rushed. The person doing my nails was a little rough. She kept tapping my hand to move my fingers and kept yanking me by the fingers to get the right angle. She nicked my cuticles twice causing me to bleed and when all was said and she left choppy skin behind on my cuticles. I think the polish was old because the end result is streaky and went on thick so it bubbled when drying. I have come here 7 or 8 times. They do a decent job but for gel manicures they make you stay in for a crazy amount of time. When I was taking my hands out the woman pushed my hands back in and it burned the top of my hands because it touched the UV light. Then when I took my hand back out there was a dead bug on it. On topic it, the sign out front says $25 for a manicure pedicure. I decided to get a gel French manicure which I knew would be more. However they then said it was $61 total. Spring time means #pedicures. Feet emerge from their shoe hibernation, looking aged, dried and miserable. Mine were no exception. The crew at #NewYorkCity's Diamond Nails took my friend and I on a busy Saturday and got us immediately set up, feet soaking as we waited for a technician. We went for the spa pedicure and I'm glad we did- it was so involved. Wraps, rubs, cleanses, scrubs, exfoliation and skin softening. I enjoyed every minute. They were thorough with the nails (trust me, I have problem feet and am rarely satisfied) and also gentle with the bottom of my feet (taking them from crusty to supple in no time). The reg pedi is about $30 but this one was $45+ tax and worth every dime. Add a friendly service, even knowing I'm an out-of-towner (so no return business possible), and you've got a solid shop. I RECOMMEND: Going in if you are from the area. And splurging on the spa pedi. EXTRA TIP: Don't expect a posh spa along with that. The squeeze and shab of the place cost them that last star. I've been coming to Diamond Nails for over seven years. However, the service has deteriorated so much that I vow never to step foot into the salon again. In January 2014 I went on a snowy day to have my nails done. An inexperienced staff person was assigned to me. The service was awful. Although it was hard to do so, I spoke up and said that the service was sub-par. I was immediately assigned another staff member who proceeded to, in a rough manner, finish the job. I think she was angry because I complained about the other staff person. I paid for the service and left a good tip but swore to myself I would never go back. However, I went back last week because I was lazy and did not want to make the effort to find another salon. Same thing happened. This time the inexperience person pretended to cut my toe nails (after I asked her to make them as short as possible). She was so new to the process she seemed to be afraid to cut my nails. The polish application was poor. I paid for the service and left a so-so tip and swore again I would not go back. I spoke to the owner who denied there is a problem at the salon. The service and cleanliness of the salon are lacking so much so that there is no way I can justify ever going back there again. I have a good friend who refuses to go to the salon and I have always defended it. I cannot do so any more. Also it is true they constantly trying to sell the much more expensive "Spa Pedicure." I visited this shop, being that I'm new to the neighborhood, the shop looked cozy and they had a big sign stating "mani/pedi for $25" on MonTuesWeds. This morning, Monday, I went and after everything was done, the lady told me my total was $50, because I'm a man. Not only does it not specify that, I get mani/pedis more often than not, and my feet are well groomed. I thought it was ridiculous that she would charge me the price equivalent to TWO women getting their toes and fingernails done. I had recently gotten sns manicure with powder and went back to see if they could help me touch it up as some of my nails that had cracked. Janet, kindly sat down and redid all my nails again for no fee. This is a nail salon that truly values their customers, another of the staff kindly gave me a shoulder massage while I was getting my nails done. The worst nail salon I have personally ever been to. I warn you please stay away. Visited Diamond nails on a whim 08/09/2020 around 3pm. I have never visited this salons before it's in the neighborhood where my boyfriend And I'm really not familiar with the area. I had gel polish on my toes and gel acrylic from my regular salon. I went in and I told them I wanted a gel pedicure and gel set. They started with the pedicure, I should have known it wouldn't end well because they didn't have the proper tools to remove gel polish. She was using regular nail polish and a buffer. This process took forever. Then she plucked around my toes so much that one of them started bleeding. She applied the gel polish with so many coats I was convinced it was either really cheap gel or not gel at all. My normal sailing usually two maybe three coatings. At the end of the pedicure I could still see specs of the white one some of my toes from my previous gel mixed with the link color I chose for this visit. By the time she got to my hands I was already upset I told her just finish removing the polish and I'll just pay for the take down but I'm not getting the manicure anymore. Even just the take down of my nails was horrible no tools she tried to use an acrylics nails to help her remove my gel. I just had to tell her stop as I had enough and was horrified by the experience. She wanted to do my toes over and I said no as I had already spent and hour and a half in the shop. She still wanted to charge me a whopping 57 dollars and give me a card to come back next day and then only offered to take off 5 Dollars off the bill. I left in tears. read more

I live steps away from this salon, and still, I only go in when there's a nail emergency. The ladies are pushy and slow--two things that are non-negotiable when it comes to manicures/pedicures. I went to get an acrylic nail fixed (just one that'd broke). The woman literally just poured chemicals on my finger nails and then DIPPED MY FINGER IN POWDER. I have had acrylics for many years in many places. Never has that been done. Normally, the technician takes a brush, dips in acrylic, drags through the powder and applies to your nail with said brush. This woman literally dipped my finger. I was appalled. Is this a thing? Anyway, I waited for 45 min to fix 1 nail and get a polish change that was mediocre at best. And not to mention, there is no space and its dirty. All this, and still over-priced!
