Went here to have an acrylic nail repaired. The acrylic cracked horizontally in the middle but did not break through to the skin so I wanted to have it repaired. I had a unique pink and white acrylic which not many people do so I asked them to just remove the cracked acrylic and put a regular acrylic nail with a standard color and I understood it would not match. Well I did not get that. First off the person used the drill with the fine point to clean my nail bed to the point I was bleeding. I just had my nails done five days ago so my nail beds were in good shape and they should never be cleaned to the point they are bleeding! She never apologized, acknowledged her error or put any antiseptic on the cut. I had to ask for some alcohol to stop the bleeding. She kept telling me I had a tip on my nail and I told her no it was all acrylic, just pink and white. She refused to understand. She then used some sort of clear gel build up solution to attempt to match my existing pink and white nails even after I again told her I was alright having a standard non-matching colored acrylic nail. I gave up trying to communicate with her. At least the nail won't break until I get home from vacation and go to my regular nail tech. Also while I was waiting for my service I was watching the lead guy do acrylic nails on someone. She complained that he was doing them too short. She said one of them was shorter than her finger! He laughed when she said this. I looked at her hands and they were all different lengths. She also kept complaining that it was getting too hot when he was thinning out the acrylic. They give decent service, but I have recently been made aware of very shady business practices towards their customers regarding their sham "loyalty" program. For years, I used a plastic gold loyalty card they gave me. Despite regular visits, it never amounted to any $$ off, which seemed odd, but they kept telling me I was very close to a reward. Earlier this year, I tried to give the card, and the employee said it no longer worked, but I could give my phone # and that would credit the same way with all my points intact. that Today, I gave my phone number again and asked for my status because I still hadn't received a reward. They informed me that my only point total was from that same day's spending. They could see prior visits, but they wouldn't honor them, and some unspecified change had invalidated all of the customers' prior spending with the former so-called "loyalty" card I diligently brought in with me every time. Their prices are higher than other neighborhood offerings anyway. And they never give any promo discounts to acknowledge appreciation towards their customers or entice you in. As someone who tries to be mindful of my spending, it still seemed worth coming because any incremental spend would, I was told, add up to some reward later on. Well, so much for that! Pity all the other poor souls blindly being told they're racking up loyalty points while it's all really a sham. This is a nail salon that we visited weekly with multiple family members and friends. They recently changed ownership and the salon is totally different and poorly run. Many of their long time employees were forced to leave as well. In addition, they will not honor points or gift cards. The customer service response from the owner was disgraceful. The nail salon offers mostly a variety of manicures and pedicures, including gel, powder, spa and regular with different brands of nail polishes including Essie, Opi, Zoraya and Dazzle (which dries super fast and last longer) and also gel nail polishes products which I'm not familiar with. The salon is very clean and takes appointments and walk ins. The equipment they use are on the newer side, for example the massage chairs. They also use individual packets for the soap gel they use for the pedicures which I truly appreciate. They also include a 4 minute massage for a regular pedicure - so delicious. This is very local to where my mom lives. Pros: clean, quiet and has a loyaltly program Cons: Get busy at peak hours [Friday evening /Sat /sunday afternoon] and they do a phone call system for appointments. Unsure how realiable that is since I typically do a walk in. The owner or manager does nails herself so sometimes that can be a lot to handle and I can see how things can get messed up. In general I use to get just a french manicure, occasionally gel. But I really wanted to try something different. So I got acrylics with a single color gel. [no french design which, is an upcharge anywhere in manhattan] Veronica was great and shaped them beautifully. She took her time to make sure they were perfectly shaped and while her collegues were all going home she was making sure my nails where done right. I truly appreciated her dedication. Some unevenness on the layering of gel at the base of the nail but only something I would see, no one else. Also not completely uncommon with gel. In total she took almost 2 hours to do my nails, because she was very detailed on the shaping. At the end of all the beautiful work, I got a hand massage and a quick neck/shoulder one. Why the knock of a star? Mainly price when thinking of the general population and other areas prices. But I knew I would pay $$$ for the place based on location. Recommended if you are looking for an unprofessional, prolonged experience. A few days ago I went here to get my old gel x off and redone. They took me right away to get my gel x removed and soak in tinfoil wraps. I'm assuming the woman doing my nails had an appointment because she told me it would be on for a while and then walked away never to return. Over 20 whole minutes passed with my fingers starting to prune from the alcohol they soaked in when finally a different woman arrived to take over. She was kind and definitely tried her hardest however she cut 7/10 of my fingers with the drill. I could definitely tell she was more on the beginner end and most of the cuts were deep enough that they bled through majority of the service. Not only were my fingers burning from products and irritated by the end, but it took nearly 2 hours from beginning to end. It took an outrageously long time to complete and extremely unprofessional for them to use me as a practice dummy without consulting me or even giving me a discount. I am also a beginner in the cosmetics industry and my superiors would never charge a client full price for a service I am not fully confident completing led along not making the client aware that I don't have much experience performing the service. I definitely think she has great potential because the nails came out quite beautifully, however spending two full hours just for one service and cutting most of my fingers?! Ever since they opened almost four years ago I come at least three times a month- everything is PHENOMENAL from their manicures and pedicures to chair massages! Fast and friendly service. I work in the area and found this place nearby which is great for a quick manicure after work. It's a great way to relax and treat yourself! The staff are friendly and great at taking care of my nails and cloven hooves when I'm in the mood for a pedicure. The shop is small but inviting and very clean. Customers sanitize hands upon entry and staff are quick to take your temperature. Each station is sanitized after each customer and guests are required to wear a mask throughout their visit. Everyone here is great, for the most part. The manager and main manicurist here however is not. She rushes through each client so that she can just get to the next one. She filed my nails way too short and I left with nail polish all over my skin around the nails. I could've done the same myself. They accept everyone that walks through the door, and tell them it will only be a five min wait but it ends up being 20-30 minutes before your manicurist comes. You sit there waiting and they keep ignoring you working on other people and as more and more people walk in they just keep letting them come. I wish I would've read the reviews before wasting $68 on a manicure. Let me start by saying that I walk in this past Monday night around 6pm and I speak to the owner who greets me and tells me a gel manicure is $45. I thought to myself perfect. I had gel nail polish on already and ofc I know they charge extra for the removal. Okay, cool. She tells me it's $5 extra. Once I'm sitting down on the chair I hear the nail tech speaking Chinese to the owner telling her my nail polish isn't coming off easily and that I might have a UVgel nail polish and that she's now going to charge me $10 for the removal. Ouch! That's already $55 on a regular gel mani. When it's time to pay the owner tells me it's a total of $68. I flipped and asked why. She then says they charge extra for French design which I was never informed about. And was apologetic but that doesn't change the fact that she still charged me all of that. I would've had no problem paying if the job was actually done perfectly. The most shittiest design ever for $68. To the owner reading this, if you're going to be charging extremely high prices I would recommend getting nail techs that actually know how to do designs. Racist manager, who when she realised I was going to call the police because of refusal of service, asked a customer to be her witness, then coached the customer what to say. I was at the back of salon. One other customer was at the front. At no time did I get angry or upset nor raise my voice, so it was impossible for the customer to have heard what I said to the manager. She lied to the customer to make it seem as if I was dangerous. When the police came, she lied to them as well. Entered salon at 12:37PM today (Phone rung, so I had the time of the call.) Wanted a manicure and pedicure (with design, that I had previously had in the same salon 6 weeks prior). The manager started off by saying the nailpolish I was picking was more expensive. I said okay. I showed her design, so she could figure out the pricing, she said maybe this wasn't the salon I had gone to before. I told her I had been there more than once. When she was struggling with pricing, i.e. the upcharge, I told her how much I was charged previously. She said that was impossible. At each statement, I shrugged and said okay to whatever price she gave. After the polish had been removed (I was at one of the pedicure stations), I asked to pay, she sent a written list of my options. I asked her to come over to explain them, because the technician wasn't sure. She was perturbed by having to come and speak to me. After a few minutes, she started questioning if the technician could do the design. I said the actual design was not the issue, whatever I got would be great (Note: design = french at a slight angle, using blue basecoat and green top coat - not technically difficult). Eventually, she said the nail polish was more expensive, so I needed to pay more. I responded "You told me that when I came in". She was extremely argumentative, she used any technique she could to get me upset or complain. I just looked at her. The upshot is she told the technician to stop working, that I had a problem, which since I hadn't said anything else, I couldn't imagine what the problem was. She told the technician to come with her to the front. I sat waiting. She said "you can just leave, I have a headache." I asked if she was refusing service. She said yes. I said okay I wouuld call the police to report it. When they arrived, I listened to her lie to the police, I watched her lie to her customer, so she could cover her behaviour. I said nothing. I waited for the police to come over to me. They asked me to leave. Not once had I complained, or said anything about the price, but her story was one of being threatened. Did I say I was black? And her customer was white? I tipped the technician $20 and was escorted out. read more

A 4 min foot massage is included in the pedicure, and to be honest I often upgrade for 10 more minutes because the massage is that nice! I went in and got a gel manicure. I have been getting gel manicures for almost two years with zero problems at any other salons. I was trying Golden Nail since they just opened below my apartment. The next day, three of my nails broke in the exact same way: super low and straight across the nail. I went back in and asked them to fix it because this has never happened before, hoping they too would be a bit shocked and understanding. They told me I had to pay $8 a nail to fix it. They also told me it was my fault because my nails are weak. Yes, they said "Your nails are weak it is not our fault". Again, I have NEVER had issues at any other salons with gel manicures - I still get them and have had zero issues since. Not only did they use a procedure/tools that ruined my nails, they made me feel like I did something wrong.
