I was away from my car for a minute at max to grab my keys in the house and I have spoken with the owner of the lot and we discussed how he would like the plants maintained. When you try to make sense of their signs it's unclear what they want you to do. Sign reads "pay at poll" , so you assume you will find a poll with a payment kiosk, then you find a payment kiosk with a sign that says "Don't pay at kiosk" then you see a sign next to the kiosk that says "get parking validated when dining in" so you go eat thinking that's an option for free parking and you come back to a ticket for $61.50 with a picture of the license plate of your turo rental. I've been spending 2 weeks a year in Kona since 1994. I always spent a lot of time downtown shopping and eating in places like the Kona Inn, Fish Hopper and Pancho & Lefty's. Last November I found it was paid parking and thinking about it, I needed 2 hours parking if I was going to eat at one of those places as 1 hour probably wouldn't be enough. So I thought about it for a while. Eating at one of them would be around $70.00 or so plus tip and then 2 hours parking for around $27.00 more, bring my meal to almost $100.00 No thanks. I'll be eating in other places now, places where I can park for free and just pay for my meal and not worry about staying too long and getting ticketed (expensive). If the paid parking stays, I predict the death of the downtown shopping area and the restaurants I mentioned. I was less than 15 minutes late to the lot due to a problem at the business, and was fined $58.50 if paid w/in 7 days or $98 if NOT! Avoid this pay lot in Kailua-Kona at all costs. Not only is it expensive ($13.51/hour), but they will ticket you ($56) for any perceivable infraction. My family was on vacation and parked our rental car there. My wife called out the license plate to me while I input it into the machine. She said "Z" and I heard "C." One letter wrong and we got ticketed--despite the fact that the system charged our credit card for 2 hours. I emailed Diamond and later phoned them when my email got no response. They wouldn't accept my story, photos and screenshots as proof that we paid. They wanted to see a credit card statement. Since we happened to use my mother's credit card (she doesn't use online banking) for the parking service, that meant waiting a month to receive the credit card statement in the mail and then trying to get the ticket expunged. I don't know why they couldn't simply look in their system (using my phone number) to see that we paid. So I just paid the damned thing! My gut told me it was going to be nearly impossible to void the ticket, especially when Diamond's BBB reviews online are all negative. If you're in downtown Kona, park anywhere else. Even better, walk, bike or ride-share if you can. read more

We parked in the Ali'i Sunset Plaza parking lot to eat at Shiono's in that center, which should entitle us to up to 3 hrs of free parking according to the posted signs. After dinner (about an hour later) we had a ticket on our windshield for $58. The ticket was placed on our windshield 10 minutes after we parked stating we had parked for more than 3 hrs. Seems they have a policy of ticketing everybody who has not registered with them and paid, contrary to the signage that says free parking for accessing businesses in ALI'I Sunset Plaza. In short customers of the Plaza is considered guilty until proving themselves innocent, putting the burden on the customer. We are residents of the Kona district and will avoid that Plaza until parking policies change. read more

Their system of making u pay from qr code really sucks and if you don't see the sign, you get an envelope on windshield with a $50 plus charge. This is the first Yelp review I have ever left. I would rather walk a mile than use this parking service. I used the parking app on my phone and entered all of the information requested and went about my business. When I returned, there was a citation on my car for non payment. I would have thought maybe there was a problem with my cc if 2 other people hadn't had the same problem. I wrote to Diamond and told them I didn't mind paying for my parking, but it was an app issue, not a user error. It was denied. Twice. If you can avoid them, I recommend you do. But I was ready to leave and it's law to not keep placard on rear view mirror because of distraction of view. I had parked at the lot next to the farmers market on alii drive, I paid for 3 hours of parking for myself my husband and 3 children to go walking on Alii drive to the Kona Inn shopping center we returned to our car 2 hours later to find a ticket on our window for $56.50 for NO ADVANCED PAYMENT while checking my receipt against my payment I realized I had entered the wrong license plate number I entered a G instead of a C I quickly called the number I found on a WE CARE sign posted at location and the gal that answered the phone was super nice and had me text over a picture of my receipt and ticket and she quickly voided my notice after all it was my mistake and Diamond Parking was quick to fix it without any questions. My family and I used the posted QR code for contactless payment for the public parking structure at HK-808080, also know as the location at the Corner of Hualalai. We received our confirmation of payment and that our session had started; we paid $53 and some change for 4 hours of parking. Confirmation of payment was witnessed on our bank statement. After using 2.5 hours of our paid time (4 hours), we returned to our vehicle and found a parking violation ticket. Per the ticket, we were cited for "no advanced payment." We are disputing the bogus citation and will do so with force until the violation is recanted. In the meantime, all travelers beware. Family owned and operated doesn't automatically equate to quality and customer obsessed-these folks are an example of that. I never have a problem finding an open stall. parking lot is always clean and conveniently located within walking distance from town. I love the area. read more

Diamond Parking Organized Crime: BEWARE of Diamond Scam starring Diane the newest employee off the last plane gave me a Ticket while under a Shade Tree talking to a local man not doing her job as parking attendant near Sam's Hideway on Sarona Street. It's a Scam a bogus company that illegally tows vehicles after giving these fake tickets. Diane was so immersed into speaking to this man in an old pick-up truck under the tree, she wasn't ticketing cars or watching the lot who was paying. Instead, she waited until I exited my vehicle to be a coward to place the ticket then went back to the shade tree to flirt with the local man who appeared to be drinking hard liquor in a cooler cup loitering in the parking lot not heading to any business like I was. This man didn't pay for parking then was joined by a Hawaiian man with both sitting there smoking weed and drinking alcohol in the truck parked in the front across from the Disabled parking as Diane looked on. When I asked Diane to explain the situation to me she ran away saying it's lunch time? She told me to go to Sam's Hideaway to get the ticket validated from the bar though I didn't get any paperwork back after paying the ransom? I was told to tip the bartender so I gave one buck. Coming back from lunch I confronted Diane once I saw her asking her why I got the Parking Ticket and she's not doing her job? Others in plain sight were illegally parked including the local man then she said she was leaving abruptly after I challenged her. Finished for the day which was still early afternoon. Next I phoned the 808/557-2230 so once I did then "Lana" hung up on me. I called back the second time very UPSET after Diane didn't do her job properly and then she hung up again. This RUDE employee "Lana" then BLOCKED my cell number. I was tricked into going into Sam's Hideaway to pay the ransom causing almost a fight inside with one of the very drunk customer because I wanted the Validation back to prove I paid the ticket. Instead I was told it was paid by the bartender stuffing the ticket into her cash drawer with the cash I gave her as a drunk man jumped up from his chair to confront me in his drunken stupor. After I told the drunk what happened then he went back to his seat. Thanks to Diane I was put in a dangerous situation to have to go to this well known cheap watering hole a Dive Bar that is known for it's fights. I had tried Holy Donuts with underage girls a pair of twins working there who didn't know what Validation even meant? I then called Oahu to complain who then directed me to Washington State to file an official report. This company is a scam and Diamond will have Fearless Towing tow the car IF you park there and they run the License Plate of the car. Diane told me she chose my car a BMW and didn't want to ticket the "locals" and all the rest. Very unfair practice of targeting certain Luxury cars.
