Great food with fast and friendly service. Not very greasy for being fried. Highly recommend!

Decent food and decent service. There was a changing table in the women's restroom so that's a plus for us!

Great burgers (menu is broader than that, but I've only had the burgers). Eat in or takeout. Friendly, family run place.

Besides the pharmacy, a variety of retail items and a cafe style fountain bar. The menu has breakfast and lunch items to pick from. I chose the biscuits w/gravy sausage while my husband had eggs, sausage and toast. My biscuits/gravy with sausage pile on top wasn't quite what I was expecting. I was expecting real sausage gravy. Anyway, it's a nice store and a nice downtown district so enjoy your downtown stroll.

Based on those prices, I expected my total with tax to be around $19-20. Instead, my bill came to $23.38. When I called to ask about the charges, I was told they no longer had the original ticket, so they couldn't review the itemized bill. The employee explained that I had been charged $3 for the onion ring upgrade instead of the $2 shown on the menu, and that my soda had apparently been upgraded to a large without my knowledge or permission, adding another $1. They also mentioned there were several other small charges that contributed to the total, even though I never requested any extras. The restaurant refunded me $2, but that still left me paying $21.38 instead of $19 for a burger, onion rings, and a soda, which I find excessive. I've always met clients at another restaurant when I'm in town for business, but this time my meeting was here at someone else's suggestion. Compared with both the restaurant I normally visit and restaurants where I live, I found the prices and unexplained charges disappointing. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I loved that they kept the bicycle-themed decor- it's a charming tribute to its history. There's a good amount of parking on the right side of the building, though it can get pretty busy, so just a heads up! Here's what my friends and I ordered: Sidewalk Surfer Just FYI, this is only available on Fridays and Saturdays! You can tell all the ingredients are fresh, but I do wish the portion size was a bit larger. That said, the masa cake was unique, so I'm glad I got to try it. Death Grip If you're craving something sweet and savory, this is the one. It tastes like a donut sandwich with deep-fried brioche bread and a side of jam (which has a bit of a kick!) It's definitely on the heavier side but flavorful! Peddler If you're in the mood for something lighter, I'd recommend the Peddler. It's a more refreshing option compared to the Deathgrip. The food took a little while to come out, but our server was incredibly kind and welcoming. She checked in with us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu the next time I'm in Brownwood!

What Wayne and Crystal have done with the renovations and the attention to detail in the dining room is nothing short of amazing. The menu here is not expansive but it offers a very nice selection of tantalizing dishes. We opted for the fried chicken tacos. Being old timers with small appetites we customarily share an entree, but when I learned that an order consists of two, not the customary three tacos, I ordered a plate for each of us. Big mistake! Hahaha. These tacos are humongous! I'm afraid I totally failed to fulfill my duties as a responsible Yelper and take a photo of the presented plate. Attached is a pic of one, but the pic does not adequately provide for you a sense of the taco's actual size. We each had to work to finish one each. This creation is a work of taco art. A taco masterpiece. The tortilla appears to be house-made. The large pieces of chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and breaded; and crisply fried rest on a bed of some of the tastiest cole slaw ever. The fried chicken is then topped with a couple sauces that sing with the chicken and finished with house made hot honey. This taco is worth the drive to Hico from FTW for lunch. Service was once again very pleasant and attentive. And as I think I said in my previous review, Owners/Chefs Austin and Shannon have done a wonderful job of curating a welcoming, warm and authentic ambiance in this historic building.
