Flavorful and plenty on your sandwich. Brisket is tender and soft buttery bun. Mamas Rueben is one of the best.

Great BBQ, they have daily specials. Ribs are my favorite. Check out the loaded potato or the deviled eggs.

Went in the other night, I had looked online and found their menu and the menu said 1 lbs. Brisket 10.00, I went in and ordered a pound of Brisket and was told that it was 26 a pound. I said that is not what it says on your website, I was told that it hasn't been updated in years, with that said I got a half pound of Brisket @ 13 a pound, it wasn't that good, it was overdone and kinda dry, definitely NOT 26 a pound good. If you're absolutely starving and only want "BBQ", just do without or suck it up and eat this food. I'm not telling you to not eat this place. Now, it's not horrendous, it's definitely edible. However, there are too many BBQ places that claim they have authentic BBQ, but in reality, they don't. In Brownwood, this is one of all of them. Their food is mediocre and well overpriced for what you get (quality, taste, portion size). Their customer service is good (hence the 2 stars). If I really, really want BBQ, then I'll plan to drive to Austin to get some (yes, the 2.5hr drive is worth it, as I usually do other things there). Or I'll just do without. If there was no star review I would have chosen it. Our family was driving thru and decided to stop and eat at a bbq place and was horrified with the quality of the food.I ordered a turkey salad and was thinking it would be bbq turkey instead received turkey sliced in my salad and the cabbage was old and not fresh. There was also a fly in my salad. We paid $9.75 for this! As I was leaving I showed the lady that rang up our orders and told her and showed her the rotten cabbage her response was "Oh No" she offered to get me something else but at that moment I was already disappointed with the quality of the food. (Let me tell you the owners sat there and rolled their eyes at each other which I found to be rude) I have a business too and I always make it right for customers she didn't even bother. I would have gotten a better quality salad at Walmart. We spent $47.20 for a chicken salad which said it was in a bed of lettuce and no lettuce was with it, a Brisket sandwich, my BBQ Turkey salad, 1 drink 2 waters. For all this amount I could have gone elsewhere. Too expensive and quality of food is horrible. Don't come here. read more

We stopped in here because it was the highest rated BBQ place in Brownwood. Big mistake, don't know how it has 4 stars. The brisket is like roast, the rib and the sausage were fair at best. My wife's burger was terrible, she only ate a few bites and I could only eat one bite. Those that rated this place high must be family. Girls working on front were really rude to my son who ordered for us. Acted like he was imposing on them by requiring them to listen to his order. BBQ is average at best and overpriced---no pickles or onions with a family pack. Family owned and operated, amazing selection, fresh sides, great smoked meat, and perfect deserts. Everything is incredibly good here. I've eaten at Sticks May eight or nine times over several years and for the most part my lunch was good enough. Not so much today. I ordered sliced beef brisket, green beans and deviled eggs on the side. I expected a good cut of meat, with visible smoke ring and detectable smoked flavor that was why I would call on the tender side. I blame the brisket itself for some of the issue as the toughness varied over the slice, but the lack of good Smokey flavor makes me think this brisket got rushed, not the slow and low smoking I expect at noodle barbecue joints. The green beans were decently done. Fleshy pods cooked tender, not overcooked with good seasoned flavor. I love deviled eggs normally, but I having admit to being a bit spoiled by my wife's having back yard chickens for a few years. You can tell the difference between good yard chicken eggs and commercial eggs. Sticks clearly used commercial eggs, poor ones at that. These were pail and the flavor relied solely on the added condiments. This recipe yielded a too wet mixture had no zing, no layers of flavor whatsoever. Frankly I might check out their competition next time I find myself in Brownwood at lunchtime. read more

I had the ribs, sliced brisket, beans, and sliced potatoes and it was great. I am not sure what the other two reviewers had but the food I had was good. The sauce was slightly spicy and went well with the meat. I paid $10 for my two meat plate. My wife had the chopped sandwich which she said was not that great. But neither of us crave chopped sandwiches from any restaurant but she did not feel like the meat plates. In the end I will be going there again. Underwoods and Section Hand Steak House nearby are good as well but their BBQ is not as good as Sticks. The fried chicken at Underwoods is amazing though. read more

This was a disappointing stop. Can you say "chintzy"? Meat wasn't terrible, just okay. They skimp on the fries, relish, etc. The bathroom needs a thorough cleaning and paper towels. Native Texans will be disappointed with this BBQ stop. read more

Sticks bbq is the best in town for regular smoked brisket. The chopped beef is too greasy for me so I order the sliced brisket chopped up and it is delicious. They have quite a few choices on the menu now. And you can order a smoked chicken in the morning to pickup after work for dinner. They are delicious too. I experienced burger heaven last night. Stopped in and decided to get the Pepperbelly Pattymelt Plate. It comes with a side, I got the cole slaw (good) and a dill pickle spear (good). But to the heart of this review; start with a mildly sweet jalapeno bun. Add sauteed onions and cheese. But the patty; don't know what their seasoning is but WONDERFUL. As a whole, each bite caressed my taste buds and they replied "I Love You" You gotta try this one. read more

My favorite thing about Sticks are the desserts: The German Chocolate Cake is great and I'm picky about that cake as it is my favorite!

We love The Sticks. We have them smoke meats for all of our family get togethers. There jalapeño sausage is excellent.
