Cozy Thai restaurant! They have a great selection of thai dishes and appetizers. My Ginger Salmon was rich with vegetables and meat. The Jasmin rice was good, as always. Well, I gave Diamond Thai another chance. It was worse this time than last time. First, the positive. One of my guests said the fresh spring rolls were better than Da Kao's. Big compliment. The restaurant is clean. The food was fair. Nohing id want to get again. The cocont cckekn was overcooked and other dishes had very little tase. The panang curry sauce was good. The peanut sauce, usually the best part of a thai meal, was pasty, thick, cold, bland, solid. Not good. The server took our order. She never came back. The cook brought our food, . I saw waitresss later, sitting, absorbed n a text conversation on her phone. No one else checked on us. No refills. Just cannot recommend this place anymore. Feels like the cook has just given up. They shouldnt be charging $12 per meal. This is $6 food. Food 2.5 star (no one got sick), service 2.5 star (nobody was rude) atmosphere 3.0. Poor visit, last visit. This is a family restaurant, and the owner's adorable little boy was watching videos with Chinese and Thai subtitles. Very cute, and I enjoyed watching them, too. I would give this restaurant 3.5 stars. This is my second time checking this place out. The first time I came, I waited to be seated for about 5 mins. Nobody greeted me and in the end, I just sat myself. I got the Thai beef noodle which was okay. It's similar to pho but did not really taste like it. It was a good portion size but I probably would not re-order it again. The second time I came, I was seated very quickly. I ordered the pumpkin curry with sticky rice. As an appetizer, I had the Golden bags. The golden bags were very crispy, very buttery and was filled with cream cheese. I was expecting the pumpkin curry to be flavored pumpkin but it wasn't. It also wasn't your typical creamy curry texture. It was watery like a soup consistency which had zucchini and kabocha pumpkin in it. It tasted more like a red curry than anything pumpkin flavored. But it tasted pretty good with a good amount of coconut. The sticky rice was dry and seemed like it was under cooked. It didn't seem like it was freshly cooked, but more like it was a packaged/microwaved instant type. But this place seems like it's the only Thai restaurant around so I may come back to try some more of their dishes. I hear that their noodles and rice dishes are yummy! read more

My experience was OK, but could have been better. When I walked in, there was a board that said that it's carry out only during the pandemic. Totally understandable. But then it was odd to see a table of 4 employees (or maybe family members) sitting there eating a feast. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, my go-to order with any new Thai place. I didn't think to ask about plastic silverware, given that they're only doing takeout, but once I got back on the road I realized they didn't include utensils. This is super frustrating because if you're taking your order to go, and you're not going home, what are you to do? The pad Thai itself was fine, but didn't have as deep of a flavor as I would've liked. read more

In the area for work & a coworker suggested this spot. Big portions, great flavor & nice employees. We had the #4 fried j rolls & they were amazing. I was really looking forward to this place, but I hate to say that I've definitely had better. I ordered the duck curry and the pad Thai. The pad Thai was good, but lacked spice. There wasn't anything bad about it, but it wasn't a standout either. The noodles were also a bit hard. The duck curry was a bit too watery for me and barely had any duck in it. Again, this dish was crying out for some spice and needed to be way thicker. The curry flavor was quite muted and one of the weaker ones I've had. The one part that really bothered me besides the missing duck meat was the use of canned pineapples. This should be a crime against humanity for Thai restaurants. It was quite off-putting especially when the food isn't cheap. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was a bit disappointed with the food. Traveled to SD and stopped by this good Thai restaurant. I would say price is pretty fair, lunch 6-7 dollars and dinner from 7-9 dollars. However, if you add beef or chicken, they cost extra. I'm not sure if there are any parking in the back, but we didn't have trouble finding street parking. This is also located in the area where all the shops are rundown and empty. The store itself was filled with many colors, and decorations. I think it's big enough to have 40-50 people in this restaurant. The waitress was nice and food came out quick. I've got my usual drunken noodles but they had curry as their sauce. Which I didn't really care for. Mine had a lot of eggs for some reason... overall this place is standard Thai restaurant. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in town. The pumpkin curry is amazing! I get it with tofu and a side of garlic rice. The portions are large so there is always enough for leftovers. My husband and I weren't sure what to expect of Midwest Thai food, so we decided to play it safe and go with our tried and true dishes - Pad Thai and Green Curry. We ordered takeout and they never asked what spice level I wanted. Based on my other Midwest observations I assumed the spice level would be low and that was true. The curry was very watery and had only green vegetables which was strange to me. The pad thai was bland and dry - it needed more sauce. The service is always good..an A for effort, that's for sure! The dining area is always clean. Diamond Thai is a true "diamond in the rough." It's not in a picturesque part of town (if there is such a thing in Sioux City) nor is the building much to look at. The dining room is "intimate" though not horribly cramped. The owners have made the most with the dinky place on a shoestring budget, and the decor is cute and very clean. Where they obviously don't skimp is on the quality of the food, which is excellent. Whether you want it mild, "native hot" or somewhere in between, there are many delicious options and flavors. I had the Creamy Tom Yum soup and Pork Dumplings and Vegetables in a Clay Pot. A variety "heat" options were served on the side. I will return whenever I'm in town. read more

I wanted to like this place, given that it's Sioux City's preeminent Thai restaurant - but it just wasn't good. The food, compared to Thai food I've had elsewhere in the country, was just bad. On the upside, the wait staff was very nice, and the food was very cheap. I ordered the Tom Kha Soup and some cream cheese and crab wontons as an appetizer. The Tom Kha had a lot of shredded lettuce in it, a feature I've never seen in other Tom Khas (I've ordered way too much Tom Kha in my life). The cream cheese and crab wontons had very little filling. I've seen some reviews on the curry being watery, but I don't think it's THAT thin. It's almost like a squash soup consistency. It's not so thin that it's literally like water, but it's not thick like an Indian curry. It's a medium consistency. I really like the yellow curry and the pumpkin curry. I think they're delicious! But, everyone has different pallets. I think the flavors are good, but that's just me. The Fried Sweet Potatoes Are DELICIOUS! *drools* The reason I am kicking down a star isn't because of the food being gross or anything, it's because they are pricey. Their price to portion doesn't make sense. The establishment itself is kind of in the ghetto and the building itself is a little run down looking. It's always HOT in there! It's clean, but small and a little "dank" feeling. If you feel like you have a little extra money to burn, the curry is REALLY good, just expensive. AND.. When I lived in Sioux City, I went to Diamond Thai all the time. Now that I live in Omaha, I find myself wanting it more than ever. I stopped in today for a pit stop during a road trip and all the memories came back. This food is the best quality Thai I've ever had. The atmosphere won't be your five star restaurant but none of the decor matters because the food will have you be first class on Thai Airlines. I love the Spicy Wok Noodle and fried spring rolls. After reading reviews, it seems like I may have had a bad experience. Had duck curry...no spice and tasted rotten. Maybe bad or old duck? There is also a $15 minimum on credit cards. My bill was around $13 and I had to use the in house ATM, which charges a $2 fee, in order to pay my bill. If I had known that I needed be above $15, I would have ordered an iced coffee to go or something. Basically I felt like they were squeezing extra $$ out of me.
