Very disappointing experience overall. I ordered Vietnamese coffee and the milk tasted sour and old. We also had multiple issues with our order being incorrect twice. We ordered spring rolls with no chicken, but they still came out with chicken. The pho/soup was ordered with no crab meat and no onions, yet it still arrived with both. On top of the horrible service, the food quality and flavor were not good at all -- very bland, maybe 2/5. Unfortunately, I would not recommend or return. read more

Had lunch here and it was decent enough that I came back for dinner. Both meals were to go. At the suggestion of the employee, I ordered the beef Pho. Upon getting to my destination, I opened the bag and started eating the meal. By the time I came close to the bottom, I realized there was only one small piece of meat in the whole meal (in pho, you can't always see to the bottom and I thought I was just missing it with the chopsticks). I went back to the restaurant and told Lily of my experience, which she said should not have happened. I told her I was still hungry since there wasn't anything other than noodles in the meal and asked if she would offer a discount if I ordered something else (trying to give her the opportunity to make it right). She offered me 10% off another menu item, which felt ridiculous. I will not go back and caution anyone ordering take out from here. read more

I have to understand this is a Thai place, with that the pho broth is really good. Smaller slices of beef but there was just enough. So the food is great. I was sad that a Thai place didn't have fresh birds eye chili's but they did have dry ones ground up. Food was interesting- I've spent months in Thailand and I must say both the tofu pad Thai and the pa nang curry were unlike anything I've had. Always looking to promote and patronize local, searched Yelp for dinner, and decided on Pete's. Talking with the host, this restaurant has been around for a while. Picked their Tumeric Crepe (wasn't very hungry), a new-to-me app dish. A healthy portion of pork and popcorn-size shrimp, bean sprouts, and a rice wine vinegar for drizzling. It was very good. If I'm remembering correctly, tumeric, which has no real taste solo, lends its flavor when mixed with food; unfortunately, I'm not as experienced with the spice as I wish, as I feel like most southeast Asian restaurants seem to add it on the conservative side in the states, but the flavor profile was great. Pad Thai for the parents. They loved it. My mother remarked that the dish had a little more vinegar taste, not a strong peanut flavor, and not spicy; both gave it two thumbs up. I did get the Yellow Curry with tofu to-go to eat the next day. It was very, very good. Spiced enough to warm my mouth, and still taste the flavors. Do I wish it had a few more tofu cubes, yes, but I'm always a protein enthusiast, haha! Happy to find Thai food here. Pete's didn't disappoint. Admittedly I liked my friend's food better (an awesome stir fry with pad Thai sauce) but I tried something new and enjoyed the experience. The dumplings are not quite like Chinese ones. I could have done without so much thick, slimy sauce but that's just me being picky. I forced myself to give it a try and the dumplings were delicious round balls of chicken sausage. Probably won't get it again but appreciate the variety and authenticity. We shared spring rolls and they were very tasty! You get two rolls cut in half in an order. I really liked the sauce. It wasn't a super heavy peanut sauce. read more

Bad decision to go there. I was the only one there except for the 1 waitress and 1 cook, neither spoke english. I had never been there before. Ordered a soup. Got my soup and then a small oblong plate with meat and lettuce salad. Confused about this side plate, thought possibly add into my soup which was mostly broth, so put spoonfuls of the meat in my soup. Time to pay and was charged for soup and this side plate that I did not order, did not know what to do with. No one to talk to through this whole deal. I paid Bill and waited for english speaking manager, who had said I will be getting a return on this bill. Was also told the waitress was new. Well I still have not received a return of the charges. It was only like $8, but the whole experience just sucked. Left 1/2 of the soup, so no I will not return there. read more

Have you ever had crab Rangoon with virtually nothing in it? Me either until today. Then my replacement order came with only a microscopic amount more. My husband's dish was a huge plate full of noodles with barely any meat in it at all. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer. We were at the restaurant for an hour and half and only got one of the entrees we ordered. The waitress clearly could not remember what table rested what food, and brought out the wrong order to us twice. We ended up having to leave without receiving two thirds of our order because we had tickets to a concert. When we told the waitstaff we had been at the restaurant for an hour an a half and didn't get our food, they replied "sorry, we were slammed." Today i walked into Pete's on a whim since I was across the street visiting a friend. The atmosphere was very welcoming. It has an open layout and plenty of seating space. The service was quick and the servers were very hospitable. One was named Lily, i will be asking for her when I dine in Next. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai and am so pleased with the food that came out. I did order 'to go' so I wasn't able to have them change anything but If you aren't absolutely in Love with Bean sprouts you may ask them to go easy on that part. My coworker and I stopped at Pete's Thai on 5th since we were all staying at The Warrior Autograph hotel. The restaurant was one block over which was walking distance from our hotel. The menu has many choices and our waiter answered all of our questions. If he wasn't sure of something he went to check with the kitchen. Our food was delicious! Pete's Thai is hands down one of the best restaurants in Sioux City! Pete has a wonderful large menu with tons to choose from. Diamond Thai his previous restaurant was a Sioux City Landmark! His food just makes me happy! For appetizers our favorites are Fresh Spring Rolls and Shrimp In a blanket. My Dad really enjoyed the huge serving of Pho and I enjoyed the vegetable medley with shrimp. read more

We wanted some real food for takeout on our road trip, and this turned out to be a good choice. It was really easy to get to off of the interstate, and the food was tasty. We got the pumpkin curry, which was unique, but good, and the pineapple fried rice, but we added some extra veggies so it wouldn't be so plain. The pineapple was SO good and had us wishing there was more in it. The cook did get a little heavy handed with the black pepper, though. I ordered the chicken satay for my appetizer, Pete's Grilled Beef and some Jasmine tea...The Jasmine tea was weak and not hot when it came to the table! The Chicken Satay was OK, the peanut sauce lacked any real flavor and tasted like it came out of a jar bought at WalMart! Just meh!!! The Pete's Beef was on the tough side, lacked any real of those nice Thai flavors and was served along with a watery and even more flavorless dip. If all that wasn't disappointing enough, the portion size was tiny for a main dish- more like an appetizer size dish. Both the near flavorlessness of everything I ordered along with small portions and weak warm Jasmine tea puts Pete's on my "definitely won't go back" and "warn others not to even bother list!"!! Truly disappointing and a complete disservice to the nice, rich traditional Thai flavors that I have enjoyed at most Thai restaurants! We may just have to give Gordon Ramsay a call, as this one would be a great contender for the Kitchen Nightmares TV show!! read more
