I really like this place they give you a large selection of foods to mix together if you're really in the stirfry kind of mood. Different kinds of seafood, pork, chicken beef cuts with a wide variety of vegetables and sauces. The first time I went to Huhot I didn't like it. It's a place you either love or you don't. But I gave it another chance & I found a recipe I love! I think that's what it really boils down too. Is finding your recipe of foods & sauces that you mix & match together that tantalize your tastebuds. And I've been to other Huhot's and none of them come close to ours. I don't know how it's possible but the food quality, the cleanliness, the staff, the ambiance, the taste can't be beat. It's probably one of my favorite restaurants in Sioux City. But like I said, it's getting to know your recipe that is important. That makes everything. So if you've gone once or a couple times & didn't like it I always say give it another chance & be very intentional about what you're putting into your bowl. We have been going to this Huhot for years and years and years. They always have great staff that seat you and get you going fast and with ease. We are a family full of vegetarian and vegan eaters and Huhot could not be a more perfect place for this. You can pick exactly what goes into your bowl and they have tofu for a meat substitute. It's awesome! Also - special tip - if you request for them to cook your food a little bit longer the sauce caramelized more and you end up with a more crispy noodle. It's my jam. read more

The "cooks" were about as low-energy as you could get. Got our plates and sat down to eat...cold, no flavor. I put it in a napkin asked for a manager and watched it almost crawl it's way off the napkin onto the table The manager came over, we told her what happened, she advised us that she would obviously take care of something. I don't know where this trend of "Mongolian" buffets started or what the connection to Mongolia is exactly, but they're a tasty way of getting some vegetables on my plate and I always appreciate that. HuHot is the only such establishment in Sioux City, but if we could only have one, I'm pretty satisfied that it was this one. You start the buffet by filling your bowl with a layer of frozen meat, such as sliced chicken, beef, and pork, along with some seafood options and sausage. (The tofu is at the end with the vegetables, by the by.) After that, there are about three choices for noodles, but I honestly skip those so I have more room for veggies rather than filling up on carbs. The vegetable/fruit selection is huge. There's cabbage, carrot, broccoli, water chestnut, tomato, pineapple, bamboo, spinach, onion... I'm probably forgetting a good half of them. At the end comes a sauce bar, where you want to use four or five ladles to coat your bowl. If you're not already a chef who's pretty good at sussing out what flavors mix well, I'd recommend following one of the recipes hanging above the sauce bar on your first few tries. (And note that a couple of sauces are only available on one side of the line or the other.) You can get a little more creative on your next go-through, once you have a sense of which sauces you like. Or you could just use nothing but teriyaki if you want to play it safe -- sounds boring to me, but I'm not the boss of you. I've been to a few Mongolian grills now, but the sauces are why HuHot has remained my favorite. No matter what recipes I try at the other places, I always seemed to end up with a very sweet sauce, but here you can also make garlic-y sauces, savory sauces, and spicy sauces. I do miss that other Mongolian grills let you drop off your bowl at the grill and go sit down as you wait, though. Standing in line at the grill gets old fast since you can't even chat with the rest of your party while you wait. Sometimes the chefs do tricks like twirling their spatulas or juggling pieces of broccoli from one spatula to another, at least. It's best if there's a decent crowd so that the chefs can't rush your plate off the grill too fast, before it's fully cooked. The biggest reason I docked a star is that the chefs don't seem to cook certain veggies all the way through. Every time I try potato or a larger piece of broccoli, the middle is still a bit raw after it comes off the grill. I've sidestepped this problem by just... not getting potato and picking out only small pieces of broccoli, but it's still concerning that other people might be getting half-cooked veggies that have shared a bowl with raw meat. (You vegetarians can laugh it up here.) Another downside is that HuHot is busy and LOUD. If you're not there early, expect a big crowd and don't count on it letting up. The building's acoustics are terrible for keeping the noise down, especially with the clanging and sizzling from the grill, the echo of chatting at other tables, and the radio. (Why can't they turn off the dang music when there's already plenty of noise going on?) It's not so bad if you're seated at one of the few booths beneath a lower hanging ceiling, but expect excessive noise everywhere else. They have a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, so there's a huge selection of soda to choose from, but for the record, the waitstaff are speediest at refilling water glasses. If you're like me and make your dishes spicier than you can technically handle, you might want to skip the soda so you can get your drink refilled faster. read more

What is the deal with this place? The food is good - basically an uncooked buffet where you determine exactly how you want the food flavored. They're sensitive to food allergies. It's moderately interesting to watch them cook up the food (not exactly Beni-Hana's). But frnakly, it would be better to choose what you want, then have them bring the stuff to you once it's cooked so you aren't standing there like a dweeb watching them cook while making small talk. And I have no idea what the issue is, but that restaurant is LOUD! When the building housed a rib joint - Naps - it was loud. It's still loud. Mongolian grills are better than typical Asian buffets. This place has most basic stir fry meats and veggies with a few twists like pineapple and tomato for the sweet-n-sour crowd. It is a LOUD place, so be warned. Anyway, the key is you can customize and experiment more. You can go carnivore or vegetarian. You can go spicy or sweet... or BOTH. Hey! This place is ALLERGY FRIENDLY! (I'm Celiac, gluten free) And not just by having an allergy-alert menu, they're actually friendly to people with allergies - as in they don't make you feel like you CHOSE your allergy just to be a pain in their butts! I love that they clean half the grill, JUST for you. They'll also bring you your sauces/noodles from the back so that you are certain it hasn't been slopped with nasty, non-friendly sauces. And boy, it's so much fun to watch them cook the food in front of you! I had a great experience: they were sure to explain everything to me (I'm a first timer, there's no HuHot in Minneapolis where I live), they smiled, they made sure I had what I needed when I needed it, and they smiled some more. My wife and I don't eat here often, but we're definitely fans. The place is a bit expensive per person, but the fact that we can go up as many times as we like adds value AND the fact that we know exactly what's in our meal is GREAT! I love being able to put my own ingredients together and getting exactly what I want. My first time at a HuHot. I have been to similar places like BD's Mongolian Grill - so I was consistently comparing it to BD's... Overall the experience was passable but the food was below average. I ordered the pot stickers and they came with a duck sauce you might put on egg rolls. They were not good and I only finished two of four. The hot and sour soup was well below average - no tofu in the whole bowl and so so flavor. The food I placed in the bowl and had grilled wasn't too bad. The Kahn's Revenge sauce was good and had a "sneak up" heat that built over time. I won't go back. read more

We went to Hu Hot with a couple of friends while visiting Sioux City, since they're recommending and paying for it. Hu Hot is your typical franchise. The place is clean and looked quite new. It's all-you-can-eat buffet style, and some of the ingredients are not fresh and looked questionable. The price is not cheap either, even though I did not paying for our dinner. I would not come back here if I am paying for it. If they're opening one in Atlanta, I probably won't go. I think they're only located in the Midwest, which not much you can do there. read more

I've been to plenty of Mongolian grill restaurants and I would have to say I would never be going back to this one. When we entered there was no one working the seating area, so we did have to wait a while even though there was no line. The staff were friendly, but they could have serviced a little better considering the time we went wasn't even busy and our server didn't come around to give us refills on our beverages. The cleanliness was fair. Restaurant seating area was good, but I've seen better else where. The food in my opinion was not that great. For the price we paid for the all you can eat, was not worth it. The way the cook prepared the food was horrible, I felt like they could have stirred our dishes on the grill better. Instead the cook let it sit there and barely mixed it around to get a nice even cook on the veggies, meat, and noodles. That was very disappointing because that's the whole point of a Mongolian grill style restaurant. On the bright side, they did have a variety of sauces you can add to your dish, I would highly suggest overloading your dish with sauces due to the fact the cook just let the liquid sizzle away without really mixing all of it in your dish on the grill. So if you don't want dry noodles, add more sauce. They do not add any sauce while it's on the grill, which is a bummer. Overall, I didn't enjoy my meal, service and the cooks were weak, all they have going for themselves was the sauces they have. read more

Horrible food would not come again, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemies. First off the cooks were not wearing gloves and their dirty finger nails touched my food. Second the bowls that are out for your food were dirty and not washed properly they had left overs on them.
