Dear Sunriver, Primarily, we'd like to extend many thanks to you for allowing us the usage of White Elm 31 from Aug 24-28. It was a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Sunriver and nearby Bend, where we had a family celebration. Unfortunately, the experience was not as perfect as we would have hoped for or wanted. The factors that contributed to this feeling were the following: -The description of a four bedroom, 3.5 bath home for up to eight people listed on the Village Properties website did not match the actual home once we arrived after our long drive from CA. The home had three master bedrooms with its own bathroom (two on the garage level, and one on the living room/kitchen level with the half bathroom next to the master) but no fourth bedroom. -With that set-up, unfortunately, one of the families did not have a proper room to stay in and had to make do with a provided mattress (stuffed in the closet) that had to be laid down in the alcove between the two downstairs master bedrooms, in which they had no privacy whatsoever. -Alex from the office was not very amicable and abrupt via phone and email when we advised her of the situation and the misleading description upon check-in (we had this reserved back in early February of this year). When we asked if it was possible to get a little compensation back for the inconvenience this caused, all she could reply with was, "I forwarded your request to our vacation property manager." Unfortunately, nothing came of that during our stay. -The request for extra beddings we had emailed Village Properties on Aug 15 was confirmed by Alex, but, upon check-in, those were nowhere to be found in the home. Another phone call to the office and after about an hour wait, the beddings that were supposed to have already been there got delivered. Whomever made the delivery did acknowledge and concede that the beddings had been waiting in the office and was unsure as to how/why they had not already been at the home when we checked in. -Thursday morning, Aug 25, around 9:15, one of our family members decided to check out and use the hot tub. To his surprise, he found someone cleaning it, unbeknownst to us, and again, no one had bothered to inform us via email or phone call. Because of that situation, he decided to no longer attempt to use the hot tub for the entirety of the stay. -We were told that the cleaning crew had vacuumed and made the entire home ready; however, we found crumbs that they had missed under the dining room table, the tabletop itself sticky, and dusty windowsills. On our checkout day, Sun, August 28, we did receive what seemed to be an auto generated email from Mark Halvorson, the owner of Village Properties at Sunriver, thanking us for our stay and hoping we enjoyed our time and additional verbiage of that nature. The tail end of the email stated, "If you had a less than satisfactory experience, please call us at 1.800.SUNRIVER so that we can take care of your request right away. We value your feedback." Unfortunately, it was a little too late to contact them as we had already checked out and were already on the road for a 10-hour return trip back to CA. Overall, the short vacation for the family celebration was not as comfortable as it could have been but did not deter us from making the best of it in an unfamiliar location. Whether we return to Sunriver in the future is a mystery for now but if we do, we will give Village Properties another shot and hopefully, it will meet our expectations. As of this writing, my wife re-checked the listing for White Elm Unit 31 and it now states, "3 bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms." read more

Very Disappointing Experience -- Misleading Location Our experience with the Village Properties at Sunriver was extremely disappointing. The listing gave the impression that we would be staying in Sunriver, but the property was actually miles away. We were not familiar with the area, and that distinction made a huge difference. We were provided with bikes, but what's the point of having bikes when the property is too far away to realistically bike into Sunriver? We ended up needing a car just to get where we expected to be staying. In my opinion, the way these properties are marketed is deceptive at best and could easily mislead people who aren't familiar with the area. The location should be made much clearer upfront rather than making guests assume they are actually staying in Sunriver. We would never stay here again, and I would strongly recommend that anyone booking carefully verify the exact location before making a reservation. read more

I reserved two 3-bedroom houses for three nights, for a family reunion. I made reservations and paid for both houses weeks before our event. I spent hours finding appropriate houses within walking distance of each other. I notified all family members of the addresses of the houses they would occupy. I received an email confirmation for both houses. A couple of days before our arrival, I called the rental office as I had not received access information. I was informed that one of the houses had been changed to another, remote location. They had made the change weeks ago but I had not been notified. I reconnected with all family members, providing information about a new location and telling them they would not have access to the house that had been confirmed. Village Properties said they had no documentation that I had rented and paid for both houses - but they had sent both confirmations to my email address, so that doesn't make sense. It took hours to sort this out, two days before our arrival. There was a lot of late night driving between distant homes which was not the intention of the reunion. The houses were fine, although the original reservation had pool access which the new location did not. I was never offered any compensation for my $2,500, emotional anguish and valuable time. read more

The house we stated at was perfect but as long as it's managed by Village Properties I won't return. Village Properties does not provide shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap in the kitchen, etc and there were no pool/hot tub towels at a house with SHARC passes and a hot tub. This is not listed in the description, it is something that is hidden that you find out after it's too late to cancel. I did receive an email but it was before I was packing and I forgot when I packed to bring these things. Super frustrating. I enjoy these things to be provided when I'm on vacation, especially for the price. We will return to Sunrover as we do multiple times each year but not with Village Properties. read more

We have family (11 of us) coming from CA for Fourth of July week. Confirmed booking three weeks prior to arrival; received a call 12 days before arrival that they're canceling our reservation due to a leak that they've known about but insurance is holding up repairs? They offered some other properties that had less beds, less rooms, or was way out of town with no AC. They will not provide a credit toward other bookings; so now my family is out tons of money because of their unethical practices. Who waits less than 2 weeks to cancel a reservation for a party of 11 and then offer homes with too many twin beds for 8 adults, less rooms, and a house just way out in the boondocks ?! There are so many other ways to book a property, stay away from these ones! read more

Like most, a family vacation is an event looked forward to with anticipation and excitement. We left very dissapointed in the property rental agent - Village Properties at Sunriver. My main complaint & disturbance was being woken up at 8am on Friday morning with sounds of weed wackers, mowers & blowers as the yard service did maintenance on our yards and driveway. I called the rental office, "Village properties at Sunriver" to advise of the noise and inquire if they were aware of the disturbance. The person who answered the phone replied that they did not schedule the work but have no control of the situation if the owner of the property did. I asked that a manager be informed of my call and if any type of compensation might be appropriate for the disturbance so early in the morning. There has been no follow up return call, not even a response to offer an apology. This lack of follow up is unacceptable especially on a 5 day stay and $3,500 of hard earned money. read more

Rented 2 homes for a family reunion. 1 house was very outdated, poor quality and upkeep. Prior pet damage and smells. Knew it was a pet home when we rented, so just decided to press on. When we left, agency stuck us with elaborate cleaning bill for prior use. Blatant attempt to use us to pay for much needed maintenance. They have a history of shaming renters for their lack of maintenance. Theyll say the house was perfect. Really! Broken and torn furniture. Stained walls and dirty bathrooms. They charged us to clean 8 dining chairs when most were not even in the same room and never used. We got billed for previous pet damage. Use another agency. read more

This review is specifically about 2 Wallowa. This is a pet friendly home which we brought 2 along with us. So there are some considerations that I need to expect. The first impression when I entered the home was that the carpet in the Great Room was filthy. OK, at least I don't need to worry about the pets paws when they come in from a walk. Then trying to get outside to enjoy the back deck, the sliding glass door would not easily open. We had to force it open. We did call Village Properties on Monday and a service guy was over to the rental in minutes. Very professional and polite. He could not repair the door but sprayed WD40 to help with the slide bars. The door was never completely repaired during our stay. The bathrooms were small and impossible for 2 people to occupy. There are many positives about this property that include kitchen ware, settings and other items. The bed we slept in was very comfortable and the towels in the bathrooms were new and fresh. Bottom line is that 2 Wallowa was an overpriced unit. We would not go back to that unit for what was being asked. We have been to many other homes within the Sunriver community and had better stays for the money. I will use Village Properties again, but I would not recommend nor stay at 2 Willowa for $470/ night for the reasons above. read more

My family has been coming to Sunriver for 30+ years. This Thanksgiving we stayed at #3 Hare. In 30 years this is the first house we would NEVER consider renting again. The first night both my kids froze because neither of the upstairs bedrooms have heat. One room had heat vents but no heat coming through. The other bedroom doesn't even have a heat vent! Would have been nice to know before spending a night freezing. When we called the next day the gal I spoke with said they'd bring us a heater the next day because it was Thanksgiving and they were technically closed! I'm, No. I am paying almost $300 a night. She had to call her manager to get authorization to have someone bring us a heater. Are you kidding me?! Speaking of heat, the downstairs heat had two modes. Burning inferno or nothing. The house could not regulate heat at all. Same goes for the hot water. You either had cold or burning hot(if you were lucky to get hot). The showers felt like you would fall through the floor if you stepped in the wrong spot. Needless to say, we were extremely underwhelmed by our stay. Repairs need to happen on this property before it's rented again. read more

The worst customer service I have ever encountered. The house we rented was not fit for living conditions and multiple wild animals entered the house during our stay. When we called the property management company they told us to "figure it out" as it was a Saturday and the property manager was busy. On the second occasion of an animal entering they asked me and my wife to enter the room with the animal and try to force it out of the home. Finally, after asking me and my wife to endanger ourselves the property manager moved us to a new home, which although was a nice gesture still inconvenienced us as we were told to exit the property immediately which impacted our dinner plans. On top of this the property manager STILL did not resolve the animal problem and left the two captured animals in the home! The purpose of this vacation was to be relaxing, but thanks to Village Properties it was the exact opposite. I would never stay with this company again. read more

Each year my family & I take an extended weekend to enjoy each other's company and the surrounding area of where we stay. We were quite pleased with Acacia 2. The staff was pleasant to work with & very personable. The house is set up so early risers won't wake the night owls, or vice-versa & the littles who aren't the best at keeping their voices ddownwont disturb either. The living area is set up so you can prep a meal and still stay in the conversation. The showers are a little different but all of them work. At the end of rhe facet where the water comes out pull directly down & this will activate the shower head. Hint: if you want to enjoy SHARC contact them directly to get their hours of operation. Overall we had a wonderful stay & it's definitely on our list to stay again. read more

We rented 13 Loon Lane from 8/14 to 8/21. I found this house on Village Properties website but I failed to use the filter which allows one to select homes with air conditioning. Also the list of "Amenities" is jumbled up with "Things to do" that have nothing to do with the house. itself. There is no indication listed that there is no air conditioning. This house has a good location and may be great in cool or winter weather, but its like an oven in the hot weather we experienced. There were a number of fans but they just circulated the hot air which could not get out. At the same time there was smoke from the forest fires and the parents of my 2 grandsons aged 14 and 18 months did not want them exposed to the smoke so we kept the windows closed. Because of the 2 infants we requested early check in so they could take their afternoon nap. We were charged $75 for early check in.Most hotels that I have stayed in do not charge for early check in or late check out, if available. Because of the really hot house we left after only 3 days. The next day we got a call from Village Properties saying we had taken 2 of the SHARC passes from the house. My wife who took the call was very upset as we never used the passes as the pool was closed on the days we were there. Turns out they found the passes. I think they should have checked before calling us. All in all a very unpleasant stay ! read more

We enjoyed our week at 2 Acacia. The woodwork and log furniture was beautiful. I would fix a couple things though. The lighting is really dark in the living area even with all the lights on which makes it challenging for reading or painting, I'm sure it could be remedied with some higher wattage bulbs. The couches are a little worse for wear, one had a big seam split in the side but my handy sister sewed it up. The most upsetting for us was the broken hide a bed. We were really counting on using that and it was completely useless plus the mattress pad on it had a huge stain that looked like blood. It was a shame to have such a beautiful house with something seemingly simple to replace detracting from our stay. Overall I would recommend but not if they needed the extra hide a bed, like we did. read more

The WORST vacation my family and I have ever been on- Honestly, I don't even know where to start with this review- WORST experience ever... We booked this vacation well in advance, my family and I which consisted of two infants & five adults. We rented awbrey #7, directly from this rental company in Sunriver listed above. We called weeks in advance to ask for an early check in (we knew there was a $75 charge for this which we didn't mind) no one got back to us. We arrived promptly at 4pm, check in was at 4:30. Here's the kicker- we arrive after traveling 6 hours with two babies, to the house NOT even cleaned. Dirty beds, dead bugs, dirty dishes (blenders, etc) ice machine not working.. now, here's the kicker- The ENTIRE home full of carpet was soaking wet. There were many fans going throughout the home, when I mean wet... we initially thought someone flooded the home... we immediately called the help line for the rental agency- they informed us they had the carpets cleaned today. OH, so you expect us to stay in a home ($3,000) weekend trip, with soaking wet carpets. It gets worse. She says word for word "would you have liked to check in with yucky carpets, there's nothing I can do for you, we don't have any other rentals available, SORRY!" (In the most sarcastic voice ever? Was absolutely zero help- sounded very young and inexperienced in customer service. Why would you get carpets cleaned the day of a check in? It gets WORSE. The housekeeper arrived (1 gal) we gave her a $20 tip, and she said we could go in the house while she cleaned, word for word. Not long after that management calls us and says: you can't be in the home while it's being cleaned? They expected this poor housekeeper to clean this entirely disgusting home on her own in 30 minutes? Our infants had travelled all day, we just wanted them to stretch their legs. We didn't mind waiting outside. Complete disregard for any human decency. IT GETS WORSE- the manager for "housekeeping" shows up and walks directly in the home (very unprofessional) and starts yelling at my family and I. I have a video I'll attach. Saying she doesn't feel comfortable and they will NOT be cleaning our home. YELLING, almost directly at my 81 year old grandmother. Bottom line is: we left and will not be returning. In all of my years of traveling around the world and staying at various places: I've never encountered such unprofessionalism, lack of courtesy and human decency, and every other word in the book. It's a rip off. Below is a list of things that were also broken in the home- Fan didn't work in bathroom, bugs everywhere including nests of them in living room, disgusting shower filled with trash and old toiletries from prior guests, bees nest outside, broken window latches (you couldn't fully lock one of the bedroom windows which our infants were placed in) Dishwasher full of dishes, ice maker wasn't working and fridge was probably at 50% in terms of how cold it got. We had to strip beds of prior guests. Wash everything... basically NO clean linens. No one showered while we were here. It was utterly the worst experience of my life that they couldn't even provide basic essentials. This review doesn't even cover every inch of what's wrong with this place because quite frankly- i don't have the time to keep going on and on, it would never end. Loved the house- perfect for our family of 10 vacation. Super comfortable with lots of spaces to spread out. Comfortable beds. Access to park right across the street. Very clean. Kitchen great for cooking for a crowd. Washer and dryer handy. Bring your fans if it's over 90 (they provided two). This wasn't a huge problem as the air wafting in cooled at night. Issues: very soft tub shower floor upstairs. Deck out back needs replacing. Make sure you wears shoes out there. We got locked out of the main part of the house- no key for that front vestibule door. Waited an hour in the heat for maintenance and they came after the second call. Overall we loved the house and would definitely return. read more

I was told via email that there would be a large kettle for cooking for ten people. (Needed for boiling spaghetti, making soup, chili, etc.) There wasn't one, and we had to use the two largest saucepans to make chili. My family lives all over the country, and we were meeting here for Thanksgiving. (Atlanta, Seattle, Southern Calif., San Francisco, Montana, and Ashland, OR) We needed an early check-in because the first arrival would be flying into Redmond at noon, and my husband and I would be driving up from Ashland with all the food, and I needed to start making the desserts and other dishes for our Thanksgiving dinner. Since no-one had stayed in this house the previous week, this should not have been a problem. However, I only got a phone call at 2:00 that the house was ready! The oven is not calibrated correctly, and it took longer to cook everything: The pumpkin pie took almost double the time. The apples in the apple pie did not get done. Most importantly, the turkey was in the oven for 6 hours and was still not done! The last two hours of roasting, I changed the temperature to 350º then to 450º. We were able to cut enough off the breast to serve everyone, but I had to finish cooking the bird in a crock pot the next day. Needless to say, dinner was delayed. We were really surprised that a house that sleeps ten does not have a double oven. What a challenge it was to create a Thanksgiving dinner for ten people with only one oven (which doesn't heat correctly). Three of our family left the night before check-out. Of the seven who were left, three of us were driving back to Ashland, but four of my family had a 7:00pm flight home from Redmond. We called your office at 9:45am the day of check-out to see if we could have a late check-out, but no-one responded to my call until the next day. Therefore we had to leave at 11:00am, and the four flying home to Seattle had to kill time in Bend until their flight. read more

Very easy to use system that is Covid free. Instead of checking in at a desk, you go straight to your rental and open the front door with a code they send you. The place was very clean and we found out that they give the house 24 hours minimum sit time prior to allowing their cleaners in. Check out was the same- shut the door and enter a code and they know you left. Will definitely use again. read more

I can't possible say anything positive. We were in Jackpine #6. The entire house is in much much need of work. It was probably nice in 1970! But nothing updated, repaired, etc. even the insta-hot was broken. The blinds were dismantled. It looked like a huge dog tackled them. When I called, the response was "yes, we know about it"! Then told maintenance would be by. That never happened. We only had 2 towels per bathroom for a 3 night stay? The dishes were dirty. We had to wash them prior to using. The kitchen was not stocked. Even the basics. Wine cork, whisk, full set of measuring cups, again, I could go on. I'm so glad I brought my own beaters, waffle maker, blender! I'd suggest vrbo. I will never ever use this property management, if that's what you want to call it, again. read more

Stayed at Tan Oak Lane 37 and our stay here was just alright. The main reason we rented here was for the indoor jacuzzi and it was not working when we arrived. Village properties did give us a slight monetary credit and sent a repair person the night before we left. The heated master bath floors were wonderful. There was a keurig coffee machine even though they told me there wouldn't be before I arrived. The master bed comforter was not soft and comfortable and there were cobwebs everywhere through the house. The master bathtub/shower unit was outdated and not nice or clean. The living room and dining room windows were large adding nice panoramic views. Not sure if we would book here again. read more

We have purchased and owned many properties in Sunriver and have had some real estate transactions through Village Properties and had one of our rentals through them as well. We terminated our rental with them after all our condo personal items were stolen and they determined it was one of their maids. We received no compensation for the stolen items. We just had a real estate transaction involving Jonathan Ball where we were the seller and he represented the buyer. Every aspect of the transaction was fraught with lies and deception by the buyer who made a full price offer accepting it as "as-is" condition. We had multiple offers and we regret accepting this one as the buyer and Village Properties have pulled multiple stunts to terminate the deal after we pulled it from the market and turned the other offers away. There was zero compromise but plenty of misrepresentations. One of the worst transaction experiences we have had and we have done over 40 of them. We will never do business with them again. The property management team was friendly, helpful and responsive. The home was even nicer than I expected. It looked like the kitchen and bathroom had been recently renovated. The furniture was all in good repair and extremely comfortable. Surprisingly, the pillows were even comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better stocked kitchen. They provided everything you could reasonably need for cooking and preparing meals. The home was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Great location, centrally located across from the large field to play in the snow with the kiddos. I would definitely stay here again I would definitely recommend it to others. There were a couple of small glitches along the way but nothing worth really mentioning and definitely not a dealbreaker. read more

We rented the Snowgoose Court home which was perfect for our family of 10. There were 6 adults and 4 kids. The home was ready for us at 4:30 pm and was spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with every appliance and utensil we could use. Plenty of plates, cups, etc., etc. The beds were very comfortable. The home overlooks the river, which was perfect and we spent a lot of time sitting by the river with the kids swimming and using floats. There is a large deck with a big BBQ, lots of adirondack chairs and a table and chairs for outdoor dining. The only con was that there is no A/C in this house and it was 80-95° during the day. The upstairs bedrooms did not have blackout drapes, which made the rooms even hotter. Fortunately, we brought fans and a portable A/C unit which helped somewhat. Anyone coming to this house only needs to bring food and clothes. And maybe fans? read more

When we arrived the hot tub did not work, the jacuzzi tub was broken, the fireplace did not work, large sliding door had no blinds, broken chairs, some big windows not very clean. It just seems like someone didn't care that much. After 1 message and a call the next day the office was very nice and sent for repairs of the hot tub and fireplace but not the tub. Nice house but feels neglected. 2 days of our 3 day vacation wasn't that bad. read more

The impression they gave on this offer was deceptive and misleading as the property was only available a short window of the period of time they offered. Clearly a company more concerned about profit instead or the experience of the customer. Won't be booking with them again. read more

Bedrooms are all on 2nd floor so you can imagine how hot they get. Do NOT use there site as they are not accurate and/or mislead potential renters. This was our first time to rent from Village Properties and to stay at their house on Crane Dr. Our family of 9 had a fabulous reunion due in part to the wonderful house and follow up from VP. We just had one minor glitch and they followed up immediately. The house itself was extremely well equipped. They had a canoe, kayaks, bicycles and all other sorts of fun toys. The amenities in the kitchen were over the top (plenty of dishes for our entire group, seasonings, paper products, etc). The beds and bathrooms had very nice amenities as well. We loved our week long visit at the Lassen Lane property. Check in and out was super simple with the coded entry (even after a glitch at the beginning due to conflicting emails). Because of covid, there's no home book, and the welcome placard was reversed and hidden so we didn't see it, which resulted in several phone calls to the office. But Jenna was extremely helpful and patient and professional which o really appreciated! And she answered all my questions without hesitation. I do wish there had been notification of some of the amenities in the listing--usually there are dvds but this one didn't have any movies (not a big deal, but had I known I would have brought a few for our littles). The company has been quick with taking care of a billing error and making sure our stay went well and I really appreciated it. We have rented with Village Properties 3 times and have secured 4 more rentals for the upcoming months due to their a amazing customer service and willingness to go the extra mile, Jenna is amazing if she is available to help you. All of the properties have been exactly what was described and photos look like and they have always been super clean. The best part about calling them is that they will go out of their way to help you find what you want and tell you the pros and cons of all the properties. Resort was absolutely beautiful! Stayed at Lost Lane 8. I have 1 year old twins and arrived to the most disgusting place I have ever stayed at. Leftovers left in fridge, garbage on counters, eye contacts stuck to the nightstand by the bed, towels everywhere, all the beds were unmade. Used tampon in trash and toilet. Foul! Nothing like arriving and not being able to go to bed because you have to sit and wash all the bedding. The bathtubs wouldn't hold water for baths, that wasn't convenient for me with twin babies. When you aren't staying somewhere ghetto and this place isn't cheap I was baffled how this could even happen. read more
