This salon is easily $100-$125 more expensive just because of the area it's in, keep that in mind. Overall, I would give my hair a 6 out of 10 and my experience a 4 out of 10. I got a partial "balayage" and hair cut, and at this point I know that some salons don't do actual hair painting, it's basically sporadically placed color, and while the color itself is fine, I don't anticipate this growing out as well as it has other times I've gotten my hair done - I can tell because I've been getting my hair done for 20+ years at this point so that's a little unfortunate. But aside from this, I would have appreciated if she let me know she was charging me for more color - other salons haven't done this as often, but they do let me know when they do. Even with full "balayage" at other places, I haven't always been charged for more color so this was unexpected. Even if she just gave me a heads up though, I would have appreciated it. The haircut was very basic and simple even though I asked for long layers. The blow dry was also "okay" - I ended up going home and adding more volume into it myself. Most importantly though - the stylist was not engaging at all. I'm a new customer, she didn't ask anything about me. Made no effort to put in conversation with me. It is so unlike any experience I've had at a hair salon. I even asked her questions to get the ball rolling and there was barely anything back. 3-4 hours in a salon chair is a long time for such lack of conversation, it's very disappointing. Like I said - my experience wasn't "bad" or "horrible" but I am not going back and I would not recommend the salon.

This was my first visit and it will definitely not be my last. Ashley's years of color expertise and careful listening skills left me with the most gorgeous hair I have had in years. The salon is small and private and looks out upon a beautiful courtyard with orchids and other lovely plants. Because it is a small salon there is no noise or chitter chatter going on in the background from other stylists or customers which led to a very calm and relaxing experience. When I arrived, I was the only customer there. It was strange, as Saturdays are usually busy for hair salons. I was warmly greeted and seated for my consultation with Ginger, an older lady/master colorist/stylist. We decided on a shoulder length cut with layers, and I trusted her to do a good job, as I had heard nothing but good things. She had her assistant shampoo me. The assistant was rough with the shampooing and conditioning, the water temperature varied between too hot and too cold (never asked me how it felt) and the whole time she was talking to Ginger about her schedule/life. She also had these bangle bracelets that were jingling very loudly during my lathering. Not a pleasant experience. The cut was alright, but Ginger had to go back and snip several pieces that she left behind at the end. The cut was not what I had asked for (I wanted a piecey lob that hit at the collarbone with bangs, and I got a shoulder length cut with minimal layers and no bangs), and I felt that she was too sick (with allergies-tissues everywhere!) to try. So sad, I wish I could get it fixed, as i'ts my birthday weekend. :(
