Karen did a wonderful job, and explained everything to me as she was doing it. I came in for a deva cut for my weird, kind of wavy kind of straight hair. Instead of charging me for the more expensive cut, she talked to me about doing a normal cut instead for now, and told me about how to actually take care of my waves so that if I wanted a deva cut next time, I would be ready for it. She easily could have made herself an extra $40, and she went out of her way to put that back in my pocket. She explained to me the ingredients to look for in shampoos and conditioners, never pushing salon products. I forget the name of it, but she discussed my hairs health and highly recommended an in-salon treatment to help with my hairs dryness, I went for it and will NEVER look back! Since moving to a home with very hard water, my hair has been so dry. I cannot believe that treatment was all it took for my hair to be healthy and again, it has an actual SHINE to it! And it's still going weeks later, not the sort of thing where 4 days later the treatment effects are gone and it was all a smoke show. My hair is truly just healthier now. I will definitely be getting that treatment again when the hard water wrecks my hair with more time. None of that even touches on the cut itself, which is wonderful. She let me talk about what I was thinking, show photos, and confirmed what I said afterwards so I wasn't worried she missed anything. She checked in with me on length and style as she was cutting layers. In this process she even, once again, continued to mention things that were for my benefit and not her own. For example, we discussed bangs/going short, as I was thinking about it but not sure (i have long hair), and she mentioned that I seemed like the kind of person that gets a cut every year or so (accurate, lol) and that I should think about how if I get bangs &/or go short, I would likely be in need of much more frequent cuts, especially with bangs, and to add the cost of those visits or the effort of learning how to trim bangs myself into my styler consideration. She easily could have hyped me up for bangs, given me what I'm sure would have been an excellent cut, and been excited with her new every 3 month client instead of an annual one. She seems like the type of person who is very passionate about her work and just can't help but do a great job and really lay out all your options for you. An excellent communicator. Caroline and her group of chosen hair specialist are very good at what they do as can be attested to by the sheer volume of customers it has, and the length of its waiting list. Service at Shear Dezigns is by appointment only. The environment is pleasant, well lit and clean. It has a very welcoming feel to it. Upon entering you are greeted by a smiling receptionist. The waiting area consist of two comfortable couches which are surrounded by daily periodicals and magazines. It is a very lively place and everyone is happy. The prices are reasonable.

I have been to this salon before and Kelly always did a good job but I travel for work and have been in and out of the area so I decided to book online with Natasha for partial highlight/dimensional color + tone, gloss, treat w/cut and style the price online was 250.00 and I had to pay 125.00 when I booked the appointment. I went into the salon and Natasha was very nice but she did an awful job on my color. My natural color is light brown but I have been doing blonde highlights especially around my face. I told her that I wanted my base color lighter and golden blonde highlights. I even showed her a photo because I was very definite about what I wanted. Well she did my base color dark, dark brown (darker then my actual real hair color) and blonde highlights around my face but they are so even I have a big clump of blonde on the right side of my band (she cut curtain bangs, which I had and like) that it looks ridiculous. I look like a skunk with this clump of blonde and then dark brown everywhere else. I wanted to be more golden blonde for summer and my hair is darker than it's ever been. When she showed me my before and after pictures, I didn't want to tell her but I liked the before much better then the after. The other thing was she told me that she would have to charge me extra because she had to use more color and when I got the bill she charged $110.00 extra and it's says for Root to End????? Isn't all color root to end???? Really disappointing! I ended up paying 360.00 plus a tip for her for dark brown hair with a clump of blonde in the front?! I hate it so much can't wait to go somewhere else and try to get it fixed. Natasha told me not to worry that next time I'd book "full highlights" and it would look better. When I told her that it was really dark she told me; "don't worry, it will lighten up when you wash it a few times." This isn't my 1st color and I'm quite sure that no matter how much I wash it, it will never be the blonde color I asked for. Unfortunately I will NEVER go back to there.

On my first visit, Jenny started to plan my hair journey by asking me about both my hair goals AND my hair history. I really value the time Jenny takes to communicate and explain what I can expect and what my options are based on my history and goals. I have always wanted lighter hair but was always afraid of the potential damage of this process. Thankfully, Jenny always prioritized my hair health! It took us 3 sessions to get to my current goal of VERY light blonde and through it all, Jenny did what was needed to keep my hair long and strong. It felt easy to trust Jenny with my hair as she explained everything to me along the way. She's also very open to feedback so I was very comfortable letting her know when my color goals changed. She was very flexible and got me to my new goals. I absolutely love my new hair; there's so much depth and the colors of my hair blend so smoothly. I also really appreciate how seriously the salon takes COVID-19 protocols. They do not permit walk-ins and do not double book so there is never anyone waiting for a session in the salon. The chairs are well spaced out and they seem to plan it so that not all the chairs are occupied to maintain more than adequate social distancing. At arrival, customer temps are taken and we're instructed to wash our hands before taking a seat. Each chair is immediately wiped down after each service and masks are required while in the salon. I think it's great that they do everything they can to make the customers feel safe.
