I brought my business here expecting a high level of care, but instead faced physical boundary crossings, deceptive billing, and failed dental work. A dental assistant named Nicole was completely out of line. I had to deal with her twice giving the benefit of the doubt the first time. She emotionally dumped all over me with personal and professional complaints both times. She insulted my teeth, asking about stains (most people ask how I get my teeth so white) and making me feel bad on purpose. She constantly crossed physical boundaries, leaning directly over my body and pressing up against my chest during a procedure, which was entirely unnecessary. Furthermore, she spent the appointment complaining and trying to gaslight me into thinking I was the problem, when I was simply trying to relax and get my teeth cleaned. I actually had to sit up in the chair and tell her to please stop talking and focus on cleaning my teeth just to get through the service. She passive aggressively scraped the plague in a forceful manner so I could hear all her hard work. When I complained to management about Nicole's unprofessional behavior, nothing was done. No apology or anything. The billing practices are also dishonest. I was told twice by the office staff that bringing my daughter in would incur zero out-of-pocket costs. Instead, I was hit with surprise bills totaling over $300 each time. When I brought this up, the office manager offered nothing but excuses and attempted to guilt-trip me for holding a basic boundary regarding their staff's lies. To top it off, the actual dental work was sub-par. A crown put in by the owner fell out multiple times shortly after completion, forcing me to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket at a new practice to have his mistake entirely redone. They constantly pester patients for 5-star reviews, but this practice does not deserve them. Go somewhere else. read more

After over 40 years as a patient Eric Dickerson dropped my wife and me as a patient. Never had the decency to call and explain why. He just sent a letter saying we were dropped. On another note one of the staff dentist filled my wife's tooth. The filling lasted 2 days. Not a good practice! If your looking for a dentist look else were. read more

I am an extremely nervous patient. When my old dentist stopped taking my insurance I had a lot of people recommend Dickerson. Let me just say, they don't care about the patient experience in the least. As a new patient I felt rushed, dismissed and totally unsure of their abilities. At my initial cleaning and consult they told me I should move a tooth (that I didn't think should be moved in my own opinion) because it would be "fun" for the dentists to "try out." When I waited three months for have a consult with the oral surgeon, dentist and ortho all together to maybe move that "fun" tooth, only one of them showed up...then when I was told by the oral surgeon it wouldn't be in my best interest to move it then made me see the ortho to convince me otherwise. This is all while I waited 3 hours....while they passed me from exam room to billing to the waiting room back to the exam room...with zero communication between the professionals who are supposed to know what's going on. I told them I was uncomfortable about how this was all being handled, the billing woman laughed it off "we're not usually like this!!" Then...even after that I was going to go to my root canal appointment I booked three months in advance since that was their first opening...they call me 9 days before my appointment (that I already scheduled myself off work for) to tell me the dentist was no longer available that day..... Completely unprofessional, unorganized and no care for how the patients view them. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I just got back from the dentist. I told him that I did not like the high pressure water for cleaning because my gums are sensitive. The dentist, "Dr. Mayo," then replied that the high pressure water cleaning was the "gold standard" and I should go to a dentist whose "values" aligned with my values. This Dr. Mayo is clearly indifferent to patient care and comfort, and I am definitely not going back to Dickerson Dental. read more

Incredibly nice/clean office. I was long overdue for a visit and ended up having to get all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, my nerves were quickly eased by how compassionate and helpful the whole staff was. I remember one nurse helping me throughout my initial consult and during sedation, she was very sweet. A procedure that had me fraught with anxiety and worry was instead made painless and easy :) My appointment was scheduled right after the first consultation, and the actual surgery took barely an hour. As someone who has a tendency to avoid the dentist, this office offers a welcoming atmosphere that I don't mind walking into. read more

They charge you a $100 "fee" if you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice. I personally think that amount is excessive and things do come up in people's lives where they might not be able to cancel with more then 48 hours of notice. What happens if you get a flat tire on the way to your dentist appointment? I now have to pay you a $100 fee? What if someone has some kind of a medical emergency and cannot show up for their appointment? You are going to get charged a $100 fee for not making the appointment? People don't know if they are going to have a heart attack, stroke or end up in the emergency room. I am giving serious consideration to finding another dentist. read more

I have had them do weird things to me when it comes to money. One time they made me pay in advance for my next dentist appointment that was several weeks away. The person behind the counter basically would not let me leave until I paid in advance for my next dentist appointment. They have someone walk you after your procedure to the front desk to talk to the person behind the counter before you leave. I wondered whether they are allowed to charge you for a service that had actually not been provided since I was paying in advance of my next appointment. Now I have no idea each time I go into this office whether they are going to try and do the same thing to me again and ask me to pay in advance of my next appointment. This was not a deposit for a crown or anything like that. They had me pay in advance of my next appointment that was several weeks away. I found that to be bizarre. The other thing they now do at this office is that they charge you a 3% fee if you pay by credit card. In all the years that I have been going to the dentist, I have never had to pay in advance of an appointment or pay a 3% fee if I paid by credit card. If you don't believe me, call their office and ask them if you have to pay a 3% fee if you pay by credit card. read more

I've moved to this area with my family and had the hardest time finding a dentist. When they started construction on the building, I was skeptical. My youngest son needed help with his broken molar and the dental practice we scheduled a visit with neglected to mention that they were in Orange, NJ. I came directly to this new office and they saw him right away. Now, after having visits for my youngest son, my husband and myself, I'm going to have the rest of family come here. Dr. Eric Dickerson is knowledge and will work with you to find the right solution for your smile. The entire staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. I highly recommend this dental practice. I highly recommend this practice!!! Dr Dickerson is very kind and caring. He was able to figure out a solution to help my daughter, who suffers from anxiety, get her wisdom teeth removed and get her cavities filled by collaborating with the oral surgeon directly.
