Dothan always needs a good BBQ place. And I want to give props to whoever decided that my side of Dothan, the east side needed more choices. They are a genius...the West side and northwest side already has plenty. Dickey's is the largest BBQ chain in the nation. It is inspired by Texas style BBQ as its origin is from Dallas. I have ate at a few Dickey's over the years, but not the Dothan location. Dickey's claims all meats are cooked on site. I went with the brisket platter, potato salad, and barbeque beans. If you want to know how good a BBQ joint is, try the brisket. It seems to be the most difficult meat to get right. Dickey's did my brisket right. The brisket was moist, smoky, tender, and mixed well with the sauces. There are 3 sauces, all tomato based, and all are served warm. My favorite is the spicy. It just has the most flavor to it. The heat on it is subtle but after a few bites, you will notice the heat. It is not the most spicy BBQ sauce I have ever had...maybe a 5 on my heat scale. The original has a Smokey, mild taste to it. The sweet to me is not all that good because it seems to be watered down with some sugar thrown in. The potato salad is a creamy, mustard base with some pimento or chopped red bell pepper mixed in. I really like it. The beans had a Sweet taste to them. They were ok. You receive a Roll with your plate and my sweet tea was freshly brewed and sweet. There is a loyalty club you can enroll in and Dickey's will send you a coupon for a free one meat plate the next day if you buy a drink from their distinctive yellow cups. The coupon expires the next day so you might want to enroll the day before you plan on making a visit to Dickey's. I want to thank the young lady that made my order as I showed her my coupon. The coupon says one free meat plate. One of the gentlemen, maybe a manager, tried to tell her it was just for pork, which I didn't think was right because if that was true, the coupon should specify. I was ready to argue for some brisket. I might be mistaken, but I believe all meat plates are the same price. The young lady still made my brisket plate and followed the coupon, which I greatly appreciated. Another lady came by and checked on me to see if there was anything I needed. Besides the incident with the man trying to give me a pork plate instead of a brisket plate, I enjoyed my visit to Dickey's and will be back. read more

We doordash the order and nothing on the order was correct other than the okra. Got no updates if they were out of things and the bread that had the chilli cheese ( which it didn't have) was moldy! When I called up there the woman that answered the phone was rude and uncouth! I have eaten all over US and other countries this was by far the worst food ever! read more

My wife and I have been customers for 8 years. We stopped in and ordered lunch today and were floored by the lack portions in or orders. Our order came to 28.00 and both our plates had less meat than a kids meal. I guess in the times we live in with everything getting more expensive it kind of makes sense but we will find somewhere else. read more

That was the worst bbq I've been forced to eat. Rubber brisket cooked into submission. Undercooked, unrendered ribs never been exposed to smoke. Soggy fries. I can't comment on the coleslaw because they left it out of the bag. I'm willing to bet it was underwhelming. I'm should have eaten the hospital cafeteria instead. I ordered a 3 meat plate and a 2 meat plate and drinks that totaled to 40$. All of the food was old and meat was smelly and grey. All of the meats had an odor seeping out of the box. The brisket was hard and old. The turkey was sour. The ribs were flavorless and looked incredibly unappetizing. There was no one in the building and the parking lot was empty. Service was ok but most of the dining room looked dilapidated. This establishment on the east dothan side needs to be reevaluated. read more

Not bad, but not great. If you are looking for some really good BBQ or anything special, look elsewhere. The meat is a bit bland on its own but the sauces made it better. Fried okra was nice and crispy but had no seasoning and the Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy but not much better than KFC mac n cheese. My boyfriend said the Kielbasa was the only thing that was really good. The potato casserole was decent too but was basically just mashed potatoes with bacon and cheese on top. There are apparently much better and local BBQ places in Dothan but unfortunately they were all closed the day we drove through (Sunday). read more

First the good. Okra is very good hot fresh well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Now the bad the Brisket was so dry it was not eatable it also had a bad burnt taste. The greens I ordered were very dry and old tasting. I f I ever go back it would be for the okra. read more

Coming to Dickey's was a good choice. I liked their brisket and baked potato. Those were just so good even a brisket and cheese sandwich is good. I was however disappointed by the mac and cheese, potato salad, and defiantly the turkey and cheese sandwich. The turkey resembled glazed ham (i don't eat ham) and just felt rubbery and slimey. The potatoes in the salad were tough and the mac and cheese was mushy and lacked authenticity. I'd go back but only for the baked potato and the brisket. Thanks ! read more

Horrible. Apparently, after they sell out of "sliced brisket" they just give you the pig slop leftovers without even notifying you. The food was "frozen cold" without a single sauce delivered. Apparently the business is struggling and its emminent by the food quality and presentation. They need to close this establishement asap read more

I've only had this food via Take Out Star - the food is always hot and tasty! I've had the pulled pork and the ribs, both are very flavorful, tender and juicy. I've tried several of the sides also, the fried okra was fried crispy (the only) way I like it. read more

The initial greeting was horrible and every interaction after that was just the same. The cashier made it obvious that she did not want to be there and rushed us though our order the entire time. Ordered a brisket plate and a brisket burnt ends plate for lunch. What came out was neither...the brisket plate was dry and flavorless. The brisket wasn't sliced...just scraps reheated. The brisket burnt ends were even worse...reheated, dry and dull. Burnt ends are often called "meat candy" because they are flavorful and tender...this was nowhere near candy. This was just scraps of beef jerky and no sauce could rehydrate this dry, chipped beef. Came in for lunch and has been a couple of years since I've had access to a Dickey's BBQ. The brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage were great. I always mix my sweet & spicy sauces for a good balance of both. Mike, the co-owner and I began talking shop and he asked us to try his new onion rings (not sure he calls them that), which are much smaller and tastier. Food was fair, but staff looked very unhappy. We were really excited to find a Dickey's here in Dothan, but doubt we will be back. The location is on the opposite end of town, they didn't have an ice cream machine as other locations do, the ice machine that is combined with their fountain drinks isn't in use, so there is a big machine next to it. First time at a Dickeys. Staff not real helpful about explaining anything, asked a question and just got stared at in return. Food was not real hot. Ribs fatty. Brisket was dry as well as the pulled pork. The roll was cold would have been better if warm maybe. Side items were ok... beans good, macaroni and cheese decent. Coselaw not great and the ceasar salad lettuce was brown and soggy. Walked here to eat from hotel after 14 hour drive, lots of other options where our $47 would have been a much better meal. Dickey's is a "go to" spot for me for meetings both business and personal. The staff and manager are kind and helpful. The food is always great. The ribs and pulled pork are good, but I'd most recommend the Westerner Sandwich, which is exceptional. They have good daily specials and all food is fresh. I highly recommend it! read more

Best BBQ on the way home from the beach. There weren't a lot of choices for eating within a restaurant on the way home but Dickey's was open and welcoming. We had the ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and brisket. All were juicy and tender and their sides were great too. The fried okra was the bomb!! Well worth the money. Recently visited Dickey's, visiting from New England. Had the chicken meal w/ green beans and Mac n cheese. Meal was ok, chicken was pretty dried out. Green Beans were slated to the max. The staff was extremely nice and the ultimate reason for raising the score to 2/5. What really bothered me was the fact that the restaurant was out of pulled pork. That shouldn't fly at a southern BBQ restaurant. Next time in Dothan, I will have to look for another option to satisfy my pulled pork craving. read more

We will never eat at another Dickey's again after the experience we had in October 2021 on Veteran's Day. My husband and I went in for a free pulled pork sandwich and I asked the man who was making our sandwiches if we could also order some sides. (We knew they were not included in the free sandwich deal for Veteran's Day, but wanted some anyway) He said he didn't know, but to ask the ladies at the cashier kiosk. I then asked the woman in front of where the sides were behind the counter if I could order some sides and she very overly-enthusiastically looked at me, smiled an obviously sarcastic smile, and said, "What's your sides?!" It took me off guard and even my husband commented on how rude she was. My husband and I both ordered sides and proceeded to give the cashier our military ID's. It took her a minute to figure out what we were doing and didn't understand that my "military ID" was a DD-214 since I was discharged from the Army in March 2013 even though I explained that to her. Because of this, my sandwich was not free. We didn't raise issue about that because I really just wanted to eat and get out of there after this experience. A few days later, I emailed corporate about the poor experience we had and they never responded. If this is the poor standard of customer service Dickey's values, we will never return to any Dickey's ever again. Very disappointing and disgraceful. read more

We walked I, the tables were dirty with dried meat etc. They had the wrong daily special sign up with no intention of changing it nor care. We ordered our food and it was done quickly. Coleslaw was delicious, the meat was cold. My green beans were far warmer than our meat was. The lady next to us had her daughter accidentally knock over her plate of food, they made her buy a new plate of food. When I think of a barbecue pit, my mind always pictures the smoke pit and having the meat that come's out having the proof of the cooking show in the meat itself. The meat was tender, not dried out, but no smoke rings. Smoke rings mean FLAVOR. The baked beans were from a can with some stuff added into it at the last minute. Some people might like Dickey's food, make's me think that they are used to living the city life and have never really spent a weekend enjoying the fun of cooking over a real barbecue pit and enjoying the family and friends and conversations; watching kids run around playing and tossing a ball for their dog to fetch. Our first time in this or any other Dickie's BBQ. I had no problem with service or cleanliness like some others have complained about. If you want table cloths and candle, this is not the place. Our barbecue sandwiches were good and very reasonably priced. Liked the sauce but could have been in containers on table but getting it in little cups from heated sauce containers was ok. Very poor performance. Limited seating. Local menu is different from all other Dickie's that we've been to and they don't offer all of the good sides (fried okra, waffle fries, ice cream, etc.).
