As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained. We were seated in the coffee shop area, which was about half full. Our server greeted us immediately with a warm smile and welcoming personality. She promptly took our drink orders and returned shortly after to take our meal selections. We started with an order of chicken livers. There was a bit of confusion because on a previous visit I had ordered a half portion of the appetizer. I asked for that again, but the server seemed unsure. When the bill arrived, we were charged the full $16 appetizer price. After checking with the manager, she informed us that half portions are no longer offered. Had that been clearly explained upfront, I likely would not have ordered them. That said, the livers were outstanding -- possibly the best I've ever had. I requested the onions well done, and they came out perfect. The livers were tender, buttery, and beautifully seasoned. Honestly, they were hearty enough to be a meal on their own. My wife ordered the boned breaded perch lunch portion. We've had it several times before and it has always been excellent. The light breading allows the tender, flaky perch to shine. One small disappointment: there is now a $2 charge (noted on the menu) for melted butter to accompany the perch. I ordered the breaded frog legs, which we've also enjoyed in the past. They were delicious again. The same $2 charge applies if you want melted butter with the frog legs. Lunch portions include a side -- mashed potatoes with gravy, the daily vegetable (green beans), and a choice of four slices of marinated beets or coleslaw. Unfortunately, the green beans were served at room temperature. Aside from the misunderstanding regarding the appetizer portion, the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

We had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and then the perch and fried shrimp for dinner. The food was good but was nothing spectacular. They give you a scoop of ice cream for dessert too which is nice.

While the food was delightful, and most of my choices as a CHW newbie were influenced by her suggestions, her kindness and personality were the star of the experience. She has the style and grace of a professional server in Chicago or LA. NWI is lucky to have someone as talented and warm as her. I thoroughly enjoyed my drunken shrimp, salad, seafood bisque, and chicken madeira. I really loved the option to have a smaller lunch portion because with all of these appetizers I was unable to finish my meal and had a delightful box of leftovers to enjoy later for dinner. There is also a great variety of NA drinks and cocktails that are fantastic. The ambience at lunch was lovely and once you actually enter the dining room, the din of the tasting area is dampened. Thank you again, Elesha. You made a special day out with my mom even more special.

The chicken was small pieces and the sausage was tasty but cut up small. I ordered a Peach house made lemonade. The beverage was described as having a peach purée in their house made lemonade. It could not see the peach purée but, the lemonade did have a slight hint of peach flavor. Restaurant has beautiful decor and has a definite mood/vibe. It would be good for a date night. I recommend requesting a section with no children since the table two tables over had a small child screaming and throwing a temper tantrum on the floor. Or request to sit outside on the patio. The patio looked great. Our server was polite and prompt. She was able to answer any questions we had intelligently and concisely.
